Why does the gaffer keep messing with a winning formula

William Noble

I don’t think the gaffer has a scoobie

James McSween

Don’t trust Clement/Koppen in this January window. They’ll buy more prospect players that aren’t capable for the SPFL. We need to get back to basics and buy players from within the SPFL. Our main focus is to win the league and we will only make the player trading model fruitful if we start winning titles.

Wouldnt touch Sima with a barge pole, over rated when fit and not fit often enough in my own mind. Classic guy with history we should avoid. The fed and wages would be poor value for money in my own opinion. Depending on costs I would have Shankland. A year too late but much rather see Scottish based talent come in and if you want a confidence boost moving to your club must be the biggest you can get. Shankland is limited but he has the key elements of dig, aggression and raw finishing our current attackers lack. Think we would get the numbers others currently can’t provide from him in 9 or 10 role. Tbh I just like him as a player, but I get he can be quite polarising.

James Tavernier looks like he is shitting his shorts on the tunnel in every single OF Match And he probably is He was abysmal vs St Mirren Getting Skint for pace Getting caught out of position Miscontolling passes to him Hoofing Crosses nowhere Hitting the first man at corners

Appreciate you're answer on my Ref accountability. Lots of comments I hadn't considered. Probably through frustration of referee standards and the "accountability" being so poor. Likely have to wait until Connor or Muir's next "human error" to see what Collins response is. As for Clement. I don't want to fire managers EVER, nevermind every 12 months. However he hasn't worked out how to beat teams in Scotland consistently. He can blame funds, but if he dropped certain players and had bought a striker that wasn't Silva he would likely have got a £40m kitty from the UCL. I don't believe he is good enough and giving him another transfer window will make it a longer rebuild when the next guy comes in. A rebuild that's been going on since immediately after Seville. The way we seem to go on highs and lows I can see us losing to them in the 2nd, then beating Man Utd & USG. Then go on a run to the take a hiding at Parkhead. Then grab a "morale victory" in a dead rubber OF game. Apologies if it's negative but it's hard to see this cycle ending anytime soon. Thanks for stepping in Cammy and all the best for 2025, and thanks Hoggy for all the 2024 Hampers.

Great pod, Cammy, albeit with so much gloom and doom. One thing I would take issue with you is your claim that the club put its feet up after securing 55. In the summer of 2021 the club launched a share issue, entered several commercial deals, relaid the Ibrox pitch, upgraded facilities at Auchenhowie, added to the back room staff, signed several contract extensions and loan deals and negotiated the B team’s entry to the Lowland League. The main failing was missing the chance to sell players at peak value and refresh the first team. Neither Gerrard nor the playing staff returned for the new season in top form. The club had pushed the financial limits to secure 55 so we had to be careful in the transfer market, whereas the filth could hand Postecoglou £50m to turn around the binfire he inherited. The club made major missteps in the summer of 2021, but I don’t think complacency was the issue.
