"In the first half we conceded two goals we can never concede it that way. We put ourselves backwards and we made it difficult for ourselves. If you need to score three or four goals every time to win games, then it's something that has to be much better. We can't do that every game." This was a direct quote from Clement. He has basically described our away form since the Ross County & Dundee games last season. Outwith a "decent month" that included a Spurs draw we should have won and a final we lost, what Clement has said isn't good enough is what we've watched for the last 8 months. So Phil, you're right. It's not good enough and it's time to go.

Zander Staff

Sports scientists run Rangers. No need for managers.

Stace1ofthePeople

Not sure if it's covered on pod yet as not listened yet but could someone help me understand. People keep saying we need investment and new takeover, how would that help us exactly? I genuinely think as a team we are under performing and with the right manager and attitude we can complete for the leauge but I've been thinking that for over a year now.. so maybe I'm wrong and we do need investment. We still need another 7 or 8 out the door and replaced with better. Massive job at hand but who has the capability. That's the question. I just think of the glory smith days so I think someone Scottish and a bit more old school but at this point it feels like nobody can

Hendi

No they don't and yes there is. If you're going to take a position of influence on a podcast then deal in facts. Not hysterical nonsense.

Zander Staff

A position of influence? 🤣🤣 that’s the funniest comment you’ve made so far!

Hendi

You appear on podcast shows on here do you not? If so you have a position of influence over however many subscribers there are on here.

Where is this nonsense coming from about the supposed dilemma the board have over giving the manager money to spend in January? We have no money.

Scott Tolmie

McInnes would empty the stadium, people wouldnt sit and watch hoof hoof every week

SDF

Ryan is spot on. We don't need a manager who is going to make us hard to beat and break down. We need someone who is going to play the attacking style of football that has won this league the last 5 years. Lennon outscored us by 25 goals in 19/20, Gerrard did likewise to them by 14 a year later. Since Postecoglou walked in their door Celtic have outscored us by 353 goals to our 291 and won 33 points more. McInnes isn't the answer for me. He'll get us a comfortable second without question but I can't see his football style ever winning this league.

Latimer

It was only a week or two ago the manager said he didn't want to hear anyone moaning about playing every 3 days 🤷‍♂️

Hendi

Fair enough, I was at the game, no idea what Boyd's latest burst of outrage was aimed at this week.

To all those that were claiming that Motherwell were hard done by in terms of VAR decisions, I would point out that just because we are shoite doesnt mean to say that we shouldnt have the laws of the game fairly implemented in our matches. 1/ the offside goal WAS offside 2/ it WAS a foul on Butland 3/ Millar SHOULD have seen red 4/ we SHOULD have had a pen for handball in the 10th min 5/ Motherwell’s first goal was - by the current rules - a goal BUT does anybody really believe that if we had scored it that it would have stood (we had an identical goal ruled out this season) or that if Motherwell had been playing Celtic instead of us that the goal would have stood?

Linda Mackay

Time for a break from Rangers I think, as they seriously damage one's health!

David Innes

They would if we were winning and challenging for the title. Some (arguably most) of the football in Walter’s 2nd spell was awful

David Whyte

We all know that we are being officiated to a different standard, that is clear and we shouldn’t gloss over it. But the manager has been here a year and his record in the league is abysmal, he hasn’t learned anything from when he took over, unfortunately his time is up. Beyond scunnered

Scott Tolmie

I wouldn't want to return to watching that type of football, it's not for me and neither is McInnes.

KennyY

Fairly clear that our first 11 can compete with anyone on their day but it’s the lack of quality in the rest of the squad that’s killing us. Our first 11 can’t play 90 minutes of every game. That lack of quality has been inherited and is not on the manager. The majority of his signings have been decent. It’s hard to take but until he has been given another 2 or 3 windows to get rid of the dross and build his own squad we are going to have results like the last 2. I know Im going to get hate from the usual suspects but that’s my opinion

Douglas Innes

would McInnes get us results in Europe ? given 1st in Scotland looks out of our reach we need the revenue that a run in Europe brings

Rona Bluebell

Will be interesting to see what the boards next move is. Could they go all in and tempt Moyes for two years with a sizeable budget? I do hope so. If I were a millionaire I’d give that plan every last penny, which is probably why I’m not one 😃

Ryan McMillan

They should have a say but Clement has used them as an excuse to hide behind. If he needed to rotate to manage minutes, why did we go with such a strong line-up against Dundee?

chris smith

His signings … 1/ Igamane (success) 2/ Cerny (success but only a loan) 3/ Bajrami (failure) 4/ Propper (huge failure) 5/ Kasa (injured for the season) 6/ Nsiala (not ready, not a current success) 7/ Barron (success, but only a squad player while Raskin is here) 8/ Jefte (success, but this reflect the price paid) 9/ Dio (dont know - do we get enough week to week to justify the price?) 10/ Cortes (unlucky, but massive fail at that price) 11/ Kelly (how can you judge?) looked at in the round, its not a great hit rate really …

Michael

Transfer spending should have very little to do with the manager. Thats why koppen is in place, he should be signing players to suit the style the football department has decided they want us to play. The notion of giving “a manager” funds is nonsense and is exactly why we are in the mess we are in. You sign players to suit a style so that when we inevitably change manager, he will suit the squad. The same way every well run club in the world does it.

Jordan McKay

Feels like there’s a lot of contradiction happening re. Clement and I’m guilty of this too. I don’t think there’s much of a debate that our best starting XI is good enough to at least compete with Celtic. That’s as much down to how the manager sets them up as it is down to the quality of the players. I don’t think there’s much of a debate that our squad depth is abysmal. He has to rotate the team. It’s not his fault that Butland’s form has fell off a cliff, nor is it his fault that Kasanwirjo or Balogun or Souttar are injured. We will sack him and bring in someone else, and when we’re 10 points behind Celtic next winter we’ll be calling for him to be sacked too because he will give us the same results.

Jamiedfa

We cannot afford to sack him irrespective of Thursdays result as our financial results confirm this.

Ryan McMillan

I think the problem is both how he rotates & how he tactically sets up his side. He had 3 games, Dundee (H), St. Mirren (A) & Motherwell (A) & the strongest side got played in the home game, it doesn’t make sense. As for his tactics. He’s far too direct & often leaves are midfield 2 with too much ground to cover.

Jordan McKay

Liverpool is currently the best example of this. Exceptional squad management and seamless managerial transition.

Robert

Steven Davis and Kevin Thomson are not the short term answer. Really wish the H and H team would stop dropping their names.

Jordan McKay

Going after podders personally in these comment threads probably isn’t the wisest decision.

Hendi

So we dropped points because we never played our strongest 11 (even though a weakened side should be good enough). So why did he not play his strongest 11?

Jordan McKay

He made four changes between Dundee and St Mirren and, in theory, two of them should have been upgrades on who started at Ibrox (Butland and Balogun, depending on how you view Propper). Motherwell seems like the real outlier but there’s only four outfield changes in yesterday’s team compared to the team that comfortably beat Dundee and you’d expect that team to still get the job done. if he genuinely feels like his players are in the red zone and they risk getting injured then he’s right to take them out of the team. Again, it speaks to the lack of quality depth in the squad. I don’t necessarily disagree with the point about exposing the midfield 2 (“the quicker the ball goes forward the quicker it comes back”) but that’s not the reason we were 2-0 down at half time yesterday.

Ryan McMillan

Because players played too many minutes, but that argument falls apart when you saw how strong a side he lined up at home to Dundee

KennyY

The proof will be in whether we can sell these guys on for profit. We aren’t doing that with the other members of our squad.

KennyY

It’s not just officiating David. This is a very busy part of the year for our players and the ‘random’ fixture list has given us the majority of our festive games away from home while the scum get to play the majority at the piggery. It’s not right.

KennyY

Our squad has no depth or quality. How many get into another SPFL team.

Douglas Innes

Don't get the intermediate manager type thing as what happens if they are successful when you're lining up the new guy ? Would be the most Rangers thing ever to get an interm manager that gets the players playing only for us to either not be able to secure him or install a new guy on his say

Hendi

And we beat Dundee 1-0, so it was hardly overkill with the team he put out. Physical preparedness fluctuates on a daily basis, based on many factors (sleep, stress, diet, workload etc) depending on the individual. It doesn't just come down to a simplistic calculation of minutes played, although it clearly impacts. We have moaned about injuries for years. We now try to reduce the risk of future injury and that's now a problem. Accused of making excuses as if the manager is deliberately not playing his strongest side for some other ulterior motive (thats never ever explained). It's nonsensical.

Robert Reid

I'd go with McInnes, sad fact is to get a good foreign or English manager you need to either take the risk with inexperienced or someone whose been good but had a bad few seasons, otherwise it costs too much or they won't come. I'd take pragmatic league and Cup winning compared to expensive inconsistent football any day by of the week

Murray

A feeling of here we go again (again!). I'm conflicted as I feel sacking the manager only leaves us in this situation again this time next year, as it seems this happens time and time again. Sack the manager, get a new guy in, get a bounce, almost catch our rivals, fall away, get hope for the following season, start poorly and repeat. We simply cannot do this again! With this being said, Clement is clearly stumbling and has lost the plot. A temporary appointment seems the best solution, a Kevin Thomson, Steven Davis etc. Even if Muscat is available and willing, would the squad suit him? Qurban Qurbanov would be my choice come the summer.

David Whyte

Kenny our fixtures over this festive period are all difficult venues to say the least, does this flip next year? I think the computer used sits in an office in Kerrydale st.

Spoon

I do not want another foreign project guy. I get the perceived flaws in McInnes but He would be my pick, bored to death with the decade long rebuild nonsense as frankly it’s an absolute piss take from the club. Domestic focus, domestic manager, domestic squad core. If we get a new version of Clement but just from a different country i think I genuinely might be done. Wouldn’t bother with an interim it just kicks progress down the line, the right guy is the right guy now or 6 months down the line . Cerny permanently , jeezus another guy we are desperate to sign after a handful of games who’s bang average and drops out of games for 80 minutes. When will we learn with these guys.
