Hoggy is back for a Happy New Year from Ibrox Park.....

That was....surprising, frustrating and incredible in equal measures. A happy new year indeed! Hoggy reviews the game, what it means in real terms and recalls festive days of old...... and yes, you can expect some Heart and Hand favourites!

If you want to come on the show, hoggy@heartandhand.co.uk.

PC is here until at least the summer - this “dead man walking” chat is for the birds.

Happy New Year Hoggy I’m getting Gerrard season 2 vibes with this team that they are far too inconsistent against the dross, but have now laid down a couple of markers against them. Firstly a cup final loss we could and should have won then following that up by beating them. We all know what happened Gerrard season 3 and the question is can Clement with this side plus a few decent additions in the next two windows replicate this? Personally I think we need to roll the dice and let him try. Unless of course we lose at Easter Road 😁

Happy New year to you & the family Hoggy.......its amazing what an Old firm victory does for the soul.......2025 isn't looking so bad now (until the next bad result of course 🤣)

John Davidson

Happy New Year Ian. All the best to you and your family.

Rona Bluebell

That performance was technically flawless. One of our best against them ever. It was astonishing. I’m more confused than ever. The board needs to back financially someone who can get that performance. Surely?

David Baillie

Happy New Year Ian to you and the family. I will forever be of the opinion that Clancy on that particular day was under some kind of influence. There can be no other explanation for the way he managed that game. So many inexplicable decisions. And yet we won.

Andrew Whiteside

Happy new year Hoggy all the best. I think you are wide of the mark on the manager. I think the result is the culmination of work done by the coaching staff. He has not had the squad to delver the consistency required to win the title and the board put him in the firing line by reducing the wage bill at a time when enormous investment was required. I know the rotation in players has caused concern but from his perspective he had to do it. He needs backed by the board and allowed time and patience to deliver the consistency. The same as Gerrard.

Stewart Robertson

Happy New Year Hoggy. I did the same recently - I went to YouTube to see if Georghe Hagi was as good as I remembered. Fuck me - he was.

Mark Goldberg

Ah Hoggy! I had no idea you’d be at the Bierkellar for the match! I’m sure I mentioned it on the podcast when I came on. Let me know when you’re next down and headed there. Will get you and the boys a drink!

Happy New Year Hoggy & all! League's done & as magnificent a display that was, Phil's tea's still oot AFAIC. He's made far too many glaring mistakes (Dowell) to think he's going to go on a big run, which is what he needs to recapture faith He's bought himself some time with that win though.

As a Bo’ness lad, your boy is a hero Hoggy. Fuck the Rose

My biggest concern for the dead man walking comment is that there is no guarantee that the next manager or the next manager after that will have any better success. I can only assume that some of these wild player selections is a surrender of the league and the need to put faces in the shop window.

I'm fed up yo-yo-ing with Clement. Irregardless of anyone's opinion I'd guess he's getting at least the season. I still have reservations, but if he were to walk I don't see anyone in the manager market that improves us. Muscat would want financial assurance that we likely can't give him and has spoken via Craig Moore that it's a non-starter, and Moyes did well in Europe but at "home" was terrible to watch so that isn't any different than now IMO. All I want from Clement is to learn and learn fast how to play away against jobber teams and say the bare minimum in interviews moving forward. Surely someone at Rangers needs to support him with communication and I'm always left wondering what impact Alex Rae actually has. As per Hoggy, this 11 has to start against Hibs no matter who is fit. I also want to see Zak Lovelace more involved, otherwise we will likely lose him in the summer. The kid has more than potential and he needs a chance.

Happy New Year Hoggy I was at the January 1978 game and it was as entertaining an experience as you describe. And almost 50 years later there is still only one Scottish team suffering injustice at the hands of Scottish referees

Lightweight! I flew in from Wellington NZ for the game Hoggy! A sunny 26° when I left the house for the 50 odd hour journey. Well worth it though. I'd like to acknowledge the sincere thanks and appreciation that I owe to Billy and Scott from the Sunshine Coast RSC, ORSA and Graeme Clark from 5Stars for the raffle tickets for the all expenses trip from Australasia to ibrox for the amazing hospitality OF tickets in the Cooper suite and stay at the Gleddoch Hotel (and VIP tickets to the evening with Steven Davis on the 3rd)! Kiwi True Blues, Wellington Loyal RSC were well represented against the C**tic!

London Bierkeller is superb.
