Rangers away day problems continue with yet more dropped points in Edinburgh.

This result doesn't change anything does it status quo as it were, Clement seems to like to play back to front no control of a game. I don't think that will change as long as he's here.

John Smith

I really think our team are a bunch of sick bastards. I don’t think even George Michael’s girlfriend played with his heart this much

Jordan McKay

“Away déjà vu”, some might say

Glyn Davies

It was nice while it lasted......but any team that starts a game so well & then proceeds to sit back like we did vs a team who in fairness are in a good run of form, add in our defensive woes & there was only ever going to be one outcome....& the manager has made himself look foolish once again with his post match waffle

Scott Tolmie

So so poor, forget any other position just sign 2 centre halfs who can head a ball and kick the ball the way they are facing

John Lindsay

12 points from 30 on the road, embarrassing, time to go Clement

Duncan McKnight

Cerny is a real concern right now as there really isn't anyone else in the squad who can play that right hand side without a massive drop in quality. He looked knackered today and we will eventually run him into the ground. Cortes right footed but maybe worth giving him a go in that position?

Bryan Watson

We've hired a manager who plays counter attacking football in a league we are going to dominate the ball most games. We'll go to Old Trafford and play Man Utd off the park then get beat at Tannadice the following Sunday. As I said on Thursday, beating Celtic doesn't change the overall situation, I don't think Clement will make us title winners again. 50/50 on the Hibs pen and we should've had one at the end but that's what happenes when you take the dignified silence approach. Crying out for a Muscat-esque manager whos style can dominate in Scotland. Move the ball forward and quickly, move off the ball, get the ball wide, 4 or 5 runners into box, low cross, goal and when you don't have it press relentlessly until you get it back. This league is as poor as its ever been and we make teams look like Real Madrid away from home.

David Hanlon

Sorry time for the Manager to go. You can't win a league losing all our away games. One hit wonders.

Gary Shaw

Same old story…we just revert to type…Hibs only ever looked like scoring from set pieces and all we do is constantly give away cheap fouls….Again, the final pass continues to let us down and I know Hagi sets up the first but I struggle to remember such a clunky, clumsy footballer who is so highly thought of…constantly making the wrong decisions, gets too over excited and there is just no power whatsoever in his running….a centre half, another att midfielder is needed at the very least.

Darren Stewart

Every team knows that if they can dig in for a spell it’s inevitable we will collapse at set pieces and direct play.

Adam Copeland

Surely this run counts as a dreadful run? 2 wins in a month? Granted Spurs game is in there. But one of the wins was shoddy 1 nil against Dundee. 2 wins and a positive Euro night since the run of 3 league wins End Nov / Dec. That's a horrendous run for Rangers.

Alan Weir

We have players who, regardless of talent levels, just don’t put 100% effort in every time they play for Rangers. Just watch the passes by Cerny, then Diomande in the build up to the Hibs penalty: lazy, careless and little attempt to redeem their errors. Chuck in Hagi’s lazy, clumsy, stupid barge and we have a gift wrapped goal for the opposition.

Martin Boyd

When 2 up we took the foot off. Central defence is the problem although today midfield also was a problem , Raskin was rank, Hagi was awful only one who showed up was Dio. We all know from Gios time that King will never be a Rangers centerback. Hibs had 1 shot on target and scored first half we are so soft , there is a lack of desire to go on and score more when we are on top that’s down to the players thinking it’s all over.

David Mackie

Manager needs to go. He has demonstrated he can't build a consistent winning team. Plus some of the stuff he says in interviews like again after the game today is gobbledegook excuses for this squads obvious failings. However his biggest failing is he doesn't get and therefore doesn't install in the team a strong winning mentality. He needs replaced unfortunately probably down to finance Board won't remove him now which is what is required.

Jimmy Ribshite

For hibs first dio and propper just back off and leave a free header in the middle of the box. IMO that’s not a penalty, it’s a free kick to rangers.

Doogz

The manager is just never going to get it, 2 nil up and Hibs were all over the shop, there for the taking, instead of driving them on to go for a 3rd and kill the game, he is happy to slow things down and invite Hibs on, 12 points from a possible 30 is quite horrific. Feel for Igamane what a talent the young man is, new CEO should be getting him tied down on a new long term deal pronto.

Marcus Black

Well, at least they collapsed straight away & spared us 3 months of hope again

Colin Wieland

We just don't have a defence. There is not one centre half at the club that we can rely on. We need at least three. None of the full backs are convincing either. We need a set of those as well. Until this is addressed we will continue not winning this type of game. Fuck knows who the centre halves will be on Wednesday.

Andrew Whiteside

Sorry David, every time a result does not go our way it’s the managers fault. I think given the turnover in players and the lack of money available he has done a good job with what he has at his disposal. The club need to find the money to bring in the players he needs to get the level of consistency required. I don’t hear any nuance in any of the pods it’s bad result it’s all the managers fault when it is far from it from my perspective.

Lee Branki

Fair assessment Davie, the defending is shocking and has been for most of the season. The away form under PC is a sackable offence alone, he mentioned Patrick Stewart will speak to the media about January and future plans is he due to talk this week?

Gary Shaw

Terrible footballer mate…People romanticise over the surname…I genuinely can’t remember a Rangers player who was so overrated.

Andy

Clements has to go. He has proven he cannot manage domestic away games. We say we will learn from this but never do. It's so depressing.

KennyY

Thank goodness for someone with a bit of common sense. This isn’t on the manager for me because he’s shown what he can do with a decent first 11. It’s the squad depth and quality that’s letting him down. A lot of our support are making a judgement call match to match which in my opinion is blinkered and unfair.

KAD87

I’d have taken 4 pts from Celtic & Hibs. It’s all about context. If you want the manager to go, you use this as an example of why. If you don’t want him to go, you see the positives.

Scott Wright (Not That One)

Genuinely exhausted with this shit show of a team/manager🤦‍♂️ don’t think I’ve got much left in me to keep going through this every week. Really takes it out you! It’s like that thing/person you know is bad for you, but you keep on going back even though you know it’s no good and it will only end really really badly!

KAD87

Thank god someone else sees it this way. Really good points and people need to get off the managers back. Look at all the positives. Diomande has improved. Raskin has improved. Igamane has improved. Hagi has improved. Ridvan has improved. Cerny has improved. People are just desperate for the manager to go and will not give up on it. For what it’s worth, I think every podder at some point has said that the manager has to go. I love the content here and everyone’s effort but it seems so imbalanced at times and not many people balancing the discussion with positives. Just my opinion.

Dougie

I suspect we’ve no money for players this window if the CEO wants to personally tell us! Sack Clement or not! (Yes for me) Try to offload players on massive contracts that we or others don’t want! Looks like Januarys going to be a fun window 🤷🏼‍♂️😬🤷🏼‍♂️

Andy

We've been consistently inconsistent. That's not good enough for a Rangers team. David called us a cup team just now but we don't even win those (thanks SFA). We are into January still dropping points to dross. Blew a 2-0 lead and barely held on. It's not good enough.

Jonny McGuffin

This is how the season will go, ups and downs until we get fully fit and get the heads in/out we want. There were positives today at least. Would rather that today, than some of the more dreadful and toothless away days we’ve had this season

KAD87

What were your expectations of the season? And please don’t say “to beat hibs, Motherwell and St Mirren”. By that logic we should beat everyone all the time (which has never happened). I mean in terms of league position, cups and Europe.

KAD87

Do you think a new manager fixes the issues with the squad when we have no money?

Ross Thomson

It is unacceptable and looking at the comments most are in agreement, time for him to go. We would be in a better position if we had lost the games we were expecting to be up against it and actually won the supposed easier matches. A total basket case of a team. And apologies if this makes no sense a bit like Rangers performances 🤪

David P

Idk the answer to that but I feel pretty confident in saying that the manager we have now isn't the man for the job.

David P

The context is we're 11 potentially 14 pts behind in the league at the start of January.

Jonny McGuffin

I think it’s been a positive week. In isolation it’s a hammering of Celtic and a tough won point away to in form Hibs with a thread bare squad. I’m not saying it’s ideal or perfect, but we can’t call for the managers head every time we drop a point.

Ian Colquhoun

Not the managers fault , same players got a result against the other lot. Played really well in spells today especially first half. We lack quality on the bench because of injuries. First pick fully fit squad and we are up there. Changing manager will not change anything but cost loads

KAD87

So it’s all the managers fault and it gets fixed with a new one?

KAD87

Glad you mentioned context, The context is we have no money, had no CEO, no Chairman, no DoF, had to reduce wage bill, had to sign about 12 players. Oh and contextually we are 2nd and will qualify from Europa League despite all of that.

Andrew Whiteside

Brought in Jefte, Bajrami, Cerny, Hamza. Got Raskin fit and playing the best football since he signed. Done well in Europe, got to three cup finals and only losing 2 by small margins. Took a team that was on its arsenal with players who were either injured, not fit enough to play 90mins and one fit striker close to a title from 8 points back. You can see a clear way he wants to play and he has been outspent by his closest rival 3 to 1 in the past 2 seasons. Need I go on?

Heart and Hand

Yeah but rather than subjective arguments football has a pretty good way of illustrating reality: results. And Rangers away form this season is dismal. And how does Celtic outspending him have any relevance on his inability to beat St Mirren, Motherwell or Hibs?

David P

No but this manager doesn't have what it takes to be Rangers manager. Let me just flip your argument back on you. Do you put no criticism Clements way? Why did we sack Gio and Beale, surely your logic means you felt the same about those 2.

Stewart Fenwick

Best thing about today: David’s video title.

Ross Thomson

I get it mate probably just a bit angry again after another tragic away performance, I just don't see where he turns this round, it not just another point dropped though its been too many this season. I hope I am wrong and he does start to get the results but the evidence suggest it ain't happening anytime soon.

John leitch

Inconsistent Up and down Should put teams away when we are on top Frailties

KAD87

In hindsight we shouldn’t have sacked Gio. Or at least we shouldn’t have replaced him with Beale. Of course the manager deserves a bit of stick but this doesn’t meant he needs to go. The club has been a total riot. I know if I work in a shit workplace then my work is likely to be shit.

Baz

2 points out of 9 away from home in the last 3 games regardless of the old firm win just not good enough

David P

That's not context though, that is excuses. Do you believe the situation is worse than the one Walter had to work under in 2008-2011 when he got us to a European final and delivered 3 league titles in a row? It's interesting that you talk about context because you only seem to include the things that suit your narrative. You mention about being 2nd and qualifying from the league stage of the Europa League. That's nowhere near good enough for Rangers and never will be. Not when your apply the context that you're presenting that as an achievement for this season.....in January.

Andrew Whiteside

Squad depth and the ability to rotate and not lose quality. Celtic have that and have rotated players in every game over this period. Was pretty clear from the beginning of the season this was going to be a year for patience from the support. We are not used to rebuilding as we have been brought up on buying our way out of trouble. This team and manager will come good long term.

Colin Mathie

I agree about today not being Clements fault, but overall we still need to make the change.

KAD87

To be honest I’m glad there is a debate about it. Better than it all being one way and means we are improving.

Billy Forrester

Today was not on the manager, that’s on the players. If we back Clement with some quality additions, central defender x2 being the start point I think he can get it right, I’ve been on the fence and off it with the manager but what’s the alternative, a new manager, rebuild again, I can’t be arsed with going through it all again, back Clement or sack him, personally I’d keep him as I do think if properly backed we have a chance. I’d also say Hagi was rotten today and cannot choose when to show up, he was abysmal

David P

Sorry no, losing cup finals by a small margin will never be an achievement for Rangers, not in my mind anyway. I also don't know why you stop at getting us back into a league race. Why not go on to mention the fact that once he got us into a position where we really could have kicked on and won the league? Now he has us 14 pts behind at the start of January. Clement got a lot of credit for getting us into a good position last year but I think he's more than used that up now.

Stace1ofthePeople

I'm thinking similar and sacking the manager is just an easy way out for the boards lack of funding and decent recruitment. New manager still has to deal with half a squad and just as players start to pick up form, end up out injured again. Can't believe we haven't signed anyone and it's not the 5th Jan when we are crying out for 2 CBs. I remember Gerard first or second season we were flying and collapsed after the winter break. But we were playing with the same 11 every 3 days so we were due to fall off at some point. Similar to what we are asking clement to do now. Wasn't until when we won 55 our bench was almost a like for like swap and our squad was at it strongest. As much as I have my doubts over clement as I said, no point sacking him to face the exact same issues. Mind bending stuff 🤯

Andrew Whiteside

Second is never good enough for us ever but this is where the nuance of the debate comes in and I wish we had a bit more of it on the platform.

Daniel Ward

We are potless, so we can’t strengthen with anything meaningful, we make the same mistakes, we will get a few good performances along the way but we will also be embarrassed a fair few times.

David P

Sadly I think you're right David but here's a hypothetical one for you. We're currently on a run of 1 win in our last 4 league games. If that win came in any of the other games and not the Old Firm in your opinion would he have gone?

Doogz

The manager stood at 2-0 when Hibs were all over the shop, instead of driving the team to kill them off he was happy to slow pace down and let Hibs back in. He is the reason we have taken 12 points away from home from a possible 30. Get him gone.

Rona Bluebell

I’ve gone back and forth on the manager but the result against Celtic swung it for me. If he can strengthen the defence and have a fuller squad to draw from I think he will deliver. Unless we’ve Moyles lined up with a 50m budget, I say we stick with him but he must be given funds.

Jim Milne

Clement already said at a press conference over the holidays that we don't have money to sign anyone this window. Then consider this summer starts at -£4.5m for Cortes.

Jim Milne

Sky said Pröpper is suspended but I don't think he misses Dundee away, I'm sure it takes 7bdsys just like Raskin and will miss the St. Johnstone at home game.

Spoon

This manager doesn’t have what it takes to motivate and sect up a team to win domestically. This squad is individually the best we have had in sometime and he is not brining out the best in them. Inexcusable to constantly go with 1 striker up. Feel sorry for whoever plays 9 in this set up.

Jim Milne

We can't beat average teams away from home, because away from home we are one of the average teams. SPFL away form Celtic - 25pts Dundee Utd - 16pts Rangers - 12pts Hibs - 12pts Aberdeen - 12pts Dundee - 12pts Motherwell - 12pts Ross County - 12pts Kilmarnock - 10pts St. Johnstone - 8pts Hearts - 6pts

Alastair Thomson Mills

Records broken by Phillipe Clement: - Ross County had never beaten Rangers in their entire 96 year existence, until they met Phillipe Clement. - Motherwell had not won a league game at Ibrox since 1997, until they met Phillipe Clement. - Motherwell had not won a league game full stop against Rangers since 2002, until they met Phillipe Clement. - Rangers had never lost to Portuguese opposition in their entire history, until Benfica met Phillipe Clement. - Dynamo Kyiv had not won a competitive game on British soil since 1967, routine 2-0 win when they met Phillipe Clement. - Rangers had NEVER conceded 4 goals at Ibrox in the UEFA Cup/Europa League. A 54 year record. 1-4 trouncing from Lyon when they met Phillipe Clement. - No Rangers manager since 1914 had failed to win six Old Firm games in a row, that was until Phillipe Clement. - No Rangers manager in 152 years failed to win any of their FIRST six Old Firm games, until Phillipe Clement. - Rangers have taken 12 points from a possible 30 away from home this season, our worst away start to a season in 19 years. Overseen of course by Phillipe Clement. - Rangers were the most successful club in the country since 1975, that was until they met Phillipe Clement.

Billy Forrester

Harsh spoon as normally scoring 3 goals wins u any game. Manager has 1 hard tied behind his back by the board and any new manager will be exactly the same, yea we may get a bounce for a month or 2 but without backing we will be back to exactly the same place as now, Clement will get this right if we give him the tools and have some patience. He set us up perfectly to beat the tims, he set us sane again today, that’s not on the manager mate

Spoon

Totally disagree, people have taken recent anomalies and used it to justify a guy who’s been an abject failure in my opinion. I think he got lucky with player performance levels vs them, it wasnt the tactical masterclass some have it in my opinion. St Mirrien abject, Motherwell abject, today Igamane clinical but the rest of the game? Pretty poor. If your satisfied with being a hard luck story that’s great, if you genuinely don’t believe that compared to every other team in this league we have resources that out strip them by miles and should be far far better then that’s your call, absolutely think we should be getting far more intensity, quality and progression from a guy who’s been here over a year. All the critique he had for previous regimes and we are no fitter, sharper or focused than before. 3 meaningless points vs them changes nothing. For me, and it’s purely my opinion, he is not improving us as a squad or as a team and I don’t buy that he does much in terms of coaching. Sorry bud, guys a fraud for me and this is simply the norm for how his spells in charge peter out. The board don’t pick the team he does, the board stuff and off field challenges are there for him very manager, it is absolutely smoke and mirrors to deflect from a guy who can’t set up to beat dross away from home.

Andrew Whiteside

I’m asking if you think all of the dropped points are the fault of the manager? Does the previous decisions of managers and board members play any part in those dropped points or the financial mismanagement of the club play any part in those dropped points? To place the blame on me man’s head just feels wrong.

Jim Milne

Jonny you're right. I'm fed up yo-yo-ing and he has to get the season and summer window. If we hire someone else we'd be saying they need 2 to 3 windows to turn this round. If after 5 games next season he hasn't fixed the away form then change it. I'm positive it's my apathy after anger that's got me thinking more like this. 🙄

Jim Milne

With players like Souttar, Sterling, Balogun, Lawrence & Matondo we will never have a fully fit squad. Need to clear out some of the injury room FC. I'd rather have average SPFL players in the squad that are available than the players we have that are collecting money for nothing.

Doogz

Anyone happy at taking a point against a bang average Hibs side is part of the problem.

Gary Shaw

15 months and no significant improvement…Blame board,CEO etc all you like but we are still financially miles ahead of everyone apart from them and should be getting much more from both the players/manager….1 win in 7 OF games ,the away record in the league,13 points behind at the start of January and pretty much blowing the title last year when we only had to beat absolute dross is unacceptable in anyone’s language and an OF win and a few decent results in Europe shouldn’t mask all those deficiencies.

Spoon

Couldn’t agree more, expectations have crashed. It shouldn’t be beyond a manager to be improving players we have and setting us up far more effectively. I think the bounce we see at times comes from having better players available. Not seeing tactical tweaks, creative use of players or development of youth, which is the managers remit, improving at all. He makes the same excuses weekly and we should expect far better from our club. People talk about the board and CEO like he is being left to pay bills, fix infrastructure or negotiate contracts …. He isn’t he is being asked to improve a team and has had investment.

Gary Shaw

David, can we bring Davies back in January (don’t laugh, that’s where I’m at with big Roy Propper)?

Gary Shaw

Exactly mate…he’s got an embarrassment of riches compared to the rest of the league and it shouldn’t be asking much to expect more than we have been served up the last 15 months…

Spoon

Cerny must be the most over rated loan signing since the last one, Sima without the injury, but he has time. Raskin hasn’t improved he has been available, we need to stop getting caught up in a few games where a players hits their level after months out injured as being a momentous event. Hagi is what Hagi was previously, a player with 40w legs and a 100w brain. Not good enough and offers little cover. In fact the remeegence of Hagi has simultaneously left Igamane very isolated as play goes wide now more than central or Hagi takes his space. Ridvan is just a terrible footballer. Energetic but zero quality in terms of crossing or shots consistent enough. If you are pulling these guys out as the positives and making out this is somehow something Clement has done I am genuine on confused as to what you think it is ? The guy has improved nobody and Igamane is scoring for fun despite having an absolute cluster around him, the boy crafted three goals almost himself. Yet again we watched him playing up front while other players around him for huge parts of the game. For Clement to still go away domestically with a single striker or no plan B is criminal. The guy has had almost as much backing as Beale got in raw players in yet is going back to guys that have been here (mostly injured) for years. The quicker he is gone the better.

Nick Reilly

I’ve thought that was really disappointing for a while. Firstly the boy is an injury croc & not worth it. Secondly it’s a massive chunk of our summer budget which is a waste. Hope to be proved wrong if he turns out to be a great player - don’t see if

Jim Milne

Do Birmingham have an option to buy or was it just a straight loan? I thought when he played last season in Europe and towards the end of the season he played the best he had with us. Must purely be wages because I agree, he's an improvement on Roy Cropper, sorry Robin Pröpper.

Gary Shaw

I’m not sure Jim but he’s a better option than Propper ,he’s also left sided so gives us that balance plus I think he would be fine beside Souttar…..he’s not a world beater by any stretch but Propper just gives me anxiety

Jim Milne

Surely there have to be some SPFL level players we can bring in cheaply that would improve this team on the road in the short term until we get players out and others in. Just someone that knows what it's like to play away and let us rotate some players especially in defence. Advocaat aside purely because of the money he spent, we are always successful when we have a spine of Scottish players young and experienced.

Jim Milne

That's exactly where I'm at Rona. I'll still get frustrated and expect better, but this is a season where I'll the only increase when we play away from home will be my blood pressure.

Jim Milne

If he wanted him it should have been season loan with OPTION to buy. 90% of wingers are never the same after a bad injury like he had last season, and spending 20- 30% of your potential budget is insanity IMO. We could've got 5 or 6 average Scottish players we could rotate when playing away from home that would get better results than we are getting right now.

Sandy Riach

Hands up. Who expected us to drop points today. ✋️

Sandy Riach

I'm normally in your camp on this but the poor performances are now the norm rather than the exception. Something is wrong - I have no idea what - and needs sorting.

Sandy Riach

To be fair to big Balogun he was only expected to have to play an odd game or an odd 20 minutes here and there.

Jim Milne

You're not wrong Sandy. That was the same last year when Beale signed him and Clement played him more initially than Souttar until the red card at Parkhead. Our injuries of late are Cortes, Matondo, Lawrence, Sterling, Souttar & Ridvan who all have injury issues regularly. Balogun as cover was never enough. Kasanwirjo was definitely a freak injury but we have no depth with quality in defence when the cover is made of glass.

Allan

I give up✋🏻

Hendi

Just because they can do it in Scotland doesn't mean they'll automatically do it for us: Floran Kamberi, Greg Docherty, Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker, Greig Stewart...

Jim Milne

None of them cost even 10% of what Pröpper cost. Could have added Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield & Glen Kamara that cost us £55k in transfer fees. There are players out there we could buy in SPFL for significantly less than Pröpper fees that aren't any worse and can head the ball. We are buying foreigners for millions who are struggling in our league, so what are our choices with limited funds in the short term?

KAD87

Yeah but we can’t have gone through everything and expect to win the league. Just my opinion obviously but saying “we are rangers” doesn’t actually mean anything if “we are rangers with no money, a new squad and no board to give us direction”. It’s just the facts of the circumstance.
