And folks said AGAIN after the win against them “maybe there’s something there” It’s insanity. This ain’t changing with this manager

John Smith

We make Tottenham look normal

SDF

We went into the Xmas period 9 points behind and aiming to be six behind Celtic by the end of it. Despite scudding them 3-0 we're going to come out of that period 4 points worse off than we went in if they beat St Mirren at home today 7 points and 7 goals conceded at St Mirren, Motherwell and Hibs. 5 of our 7 goals scored by one player. We're not exactly talking Parkhead, Pittodrie or Tynecastle here. I honestly don't know how anyone can defend it. This isn't about today's game. This is a pattern and it's becoming pretty big one under Clement. How many more wasted away games before it dawns on people it's not going to change under him ?

Ross Monro

We hear that libertines song far too much and its really starting to irritate me.

KennyY

Here we go with more manager out nonsense. What other manager changes that defensive performance today with the players available. As soon as you saw Leon King marking that Bushiri at the corner you feared the worse. No harm to the boy but he wouldn’t be anywhere near our first team except for injuries. That defensive marking at corners is for the defense to sort out on the pitch. Seriously. Our first 11 defence doesn’t allow that header. It’s very small margins and with some proper recruitment Clement has shown that he is getting a tune out of his best players.

Stace1ofthePeople

Absolutely sick of this. It's beyond tiring and now just come to expect we won't win or see games over the line. I didnt actually cebrate much at 3-2 as the game had a draw written all over it. Same 11 as against celtic so can't complain about team choice. As always nobody strong enough on the bench to come on and impact the game in any way shape or form even if the manager did take too long to make a change. We are relying on 11 players to play out their skins every 3 days. Board need to invest and get some experienced quality in the team to help with tricky away fixtures as this squad doesn't have the mentality. The quality is there to see but we don't have the brains and the know how to manage and see games out . If we get another manager in we need to sign decent players. It's the 5th of January and we haven't got any CBs in. Tinpot.

Barry Drysdale

Gutted for Igamane today. Really shouldn’t be scoring a hat trick away from home and not getting the 3 points. If only every other player in that side had the same desire and determination as him we’d be ok

Kirk Guthrie

As the late Anthony Bourdain quoted whilst in Glasgow, "the more things change, the more things stay the same." We finally beat Celtic convincingly, then once again only one or two players show up to the next game. What a frustrating watch

Gordon Smith

I actually put today down to the players but happy to listen to the pod and take other opinions. No one would argue with our approach when we're 2-0 up and had played well. Then the players relax, let the other team get back into the game and it just takes one ball into the box, no one being assertive and attacking it and it changes the whole complexion of the tie. Sorry but unlike Celtic we're not in a position to relax at 2-0. We need to keep the foot on the throat and frankly, your paid enough to manage that expectation as a rangers player and it's our mistakes that led to all of their goals. Jefte, raskin and hagi (assist aside) were particularly abysmal today. I'm not just saying this because he conceded the penalty but should have brought more legs on in the second half as hagi was having no impact on the game. If I were Clement I would just play Igamane and Danilo moving forward for these away games and save hagi for the ten over bajrami. I'm only saying that with hindsight now though we have commented on the issues with hagi and bajrami in the same team (outside Celtic) before. Desperately need reinforcements in defence for my mental health more than long term planning.

Gordon Smith

Just realised I haven't put it on the manager but have questioned the team selection. Ugh I'm just annoyed once again, I don't have to make a coherent argument when I'm annoyed.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks guys, Clement he has to go imo 🫤

Graham Roy

I’m not defending the manager in any way as he has brought this on him. However the lack of options in the squad does worry me that replacing the manager doesn’t fix the problem.

David P

I decided against sharing my thoughts after the Old Firm cause no one wanted to hear it. That win in the Old Firm is probably the worst result we could have got because it means we're now stuck with a whole season of this. I really don't know what's worse the fact that we have a manager that by the looks of if thought that it was alright to draw the 2 games leading up to the Old Firm as long as we beat them (to go 11 pts behind in January btw) or that afterwards we had a large number of fans agreeing with him. I feel like there are now fans that have decided in an effort to push back against the "negativity" have just decided arbitrarily that Clement is the man and that they're going to back him regardless. I'm not sure how that helps the club either tbh. I'm so disillusioned with where we are as a club, team, manager and fan base atm I'm not sure where we go from here. I'm now sensing a lowering of expectations amongst the fan base and for me that's terrifying. I'm scunnered by it all. I'm at the point where results don't matter win, lose or draw. We're going nowhere here.

Glyn Davies

We desperately need CBs for sure.....why is Koppen not been dealing with this since Soapy got injured? We know how vulnerable Balogun & Sterling are.....the window has been open for 5 days FFS! Should of been a CB in as soon as window opened! NOW, I can't believe I'm about to suggest these two players as a short term solution as I've done nothing but give them pelters when they played for Scotland! Hanley & Portious! Both out of favour at there clubs! But they could offer that physical type of defending we are sorely missing! Hanley also out of contract in summer

Luke

Why not just compact the midfield and see the game out. The team is absolutely spent. Cerny at right wing comes off only to stick a very tired diomande out there wtf was that. Maybe even big Cyril to get back for corners as height was so lacking. Ifs buts and maybes but when it isn't working, doing nothing won't help.

Ryan Stewart

Fair play to yous for coming on and continually talking about these games. I’ve absolutely no idea what to even say anymore. There’s nothing I can add that hasn’t been said multiple times over the last few months The board chucked this season before a ball was even kicked and the new contract for Clement made it clear he is going nowhere, regardless of how bad it gets

Ben

Clement will take a lot of blame for today but the players need to take responsibility, the manager can only do so much. Kelly flapping around and King can’t even header a ball in the right direction. We should have had defenders lined up the second the window opened

Andrew Meldrum

We started the season looking like a shambles, improved defensively largely due to Souttar and Kasanwirjo but couldn't score, largely due to Dessers. Dessers drops out the team, we improve then Kasanwirjo, then Souttar then the rest get injured. Now it seems we can score but not defend, especially highballs and crosses. Clement will eventually lose his job, and it's primarily down to two players - starting the season with Dessers up top and signing Pröpper to improve the defence. On the penalty I thought it was a pen at first, but haven't watched it back it's soft and wouldn't be given at the other end..

Graham Miller

Interestingly none of you mentioned the midfield. Raskin and Diomande fell off it after 30 minutes. We looked tired after Thursday all over. Hagi was poor and yet again we have a big number of attempts on target but only score twice in first half. They scored with only attempt same at St Mirren. Yes defensively we’re awful but we just don’t score enough goals

Douglas Innes

Very few takes on the penalty ?? , think Hagi is on wrong side and if he commits he has to make contact on the ball to take away any doubt from Referee, I initially thought it harsh viewing the 3 second clip but on a longer video?? I'd be wanting a penalty up the other end

IAN OGILVY

Does Morocco have any centre backs?

Gordon Millar

I appreciate that you put the car pod directly after the game and respect your opinions....but, .this is not a penalty, this was a major decision and I agree we threw the game away but this and the hand ball not given as a penalty were major game changing decisions........our disappointment should not get in the way calling out yet another couple of game changes with Beaton being a coward and Clancy being Clancy!

David

We are 13 points behind and have won 4 out of 15 away games, how has clement shown he is getting a tune out of the players, any other manager would have been sacked by this point

Arran Anders

The Celtic game changed nothing on my opinion on the manager. Our away record is horrific and I’d hate to imagine just how bad we would be of it weren’t for Igamane in the last few months. He has to go.

BlueJay

The issue, for me, is that the team cannot handle any sort of pressure. We mostly seem to show up in games where theres little to no expectations of us getting a result.

David Innes

Agree today isn’t necessarily on the manager but we have to look at the long term trend which is our away form is killing us

David Dunlop

Dare I say it, is our manager is a bit like Dessers? You know what you’re going to get, meaning you don’t know what you’re going to get. Might play a blinder one week and then completely fuck it up the next. Just can’t trust him. I really want to trust him, as I’m sure we all do. Then another part of me thinks, defensively, the injuries are off the charts. Has he ever had his own team, a starting 11 without injury and his players? I’m not sure he has yet.

That UFO Podcast

Do we move him on now tho? Or is it aswell sticking with him till out of Europe, see out season and then appoint a new manager fresh for summer?

Billy Forrester

Back the manager or sack him, personally I think he can get it right if backed. He has had terrible luck with injuries and hasn’t ever had his strongest 11 plus a strong bench available to him. Let down badly today by defence and thought Hagi was abysmal, can’t choose when to turn it on then give a shite performance like that today. That’s Hagi in a nutshell for u though

David P

I'd rather see a new manager in the summer but I'm beyond bored of Clement now. Caretaker for me. No idea who though. No not you Murty, sit back down pls 😅 and take that zip out of your mouth.

Craig Brown

Surprised at some of the opinions on Cerny. Would say he brings far more to the table than we lose from him. Which was shown in the game against Motherwell. Yeah he loses the ball but he actively tries to make things happen and even when he isn't having his best game keeps going and tends to come up with something. Very good at coming inside and getting a shot away aswell. Definitely don't think we are losing anything at all by playing him especially when we are lacking for options in that area of the park.

Martin Sutherland

Diomande has an easy pass to Raskin as well. Completely preventable goal

Douglas Innes

A mate who is a dons fan rates him , says he's always actively looking to make things happen

stefan strzelecki

Why didn’t clement alter his tactical approach , when Gray ‘s amendments , started to bear fruit? The players need micro management, the fans at Ibrox act as performance driver to them , more than the manager does. We need change , I think everybody knows this. Agree about Koppen, if we are so skint , we can’t sign defenders , when we have none. Is there any point in the post designation of technical director? Is it a mere facade ? His salary would best placed , within the transfer budget.

Craig

Thought after our second goal Hibs just sat in their shape for 10 minutes and didn't let us up the park in any meaningful way, then we conceded a shit goal and it turned into a basketball game.

Andy Barnett

Thursday was the outlier and a short term reprieve from fans in bad need of some joy in that fixture. But the reality since March has shown Clement to be incompetent. I for one think he’s a fraud, well-meaning perhaps, but out of his depth. 1 win in our last 6 matches is beyond sacking form, Nevermind on the back of the previous 25 matches.

james whyte

Board appear all in on Clement and its worrying. The must believe his constant excuses over what we are seeing. Performances are miles off it and the results simply not acceptable. Just sack him FFS.

Jim Milne

Think the board are going to give him the season, summer window and next season they'd pull the trigger if it was like this. Seems to me listening to Patrick Stewart's comments that they're allowing the mess of Bennett's tenure, excuse the mess Clement is overseeing.

Alastair Thomson Mills

Records broken by Phillipe Clement: - Ross County had never beaten Rangers in their entire 96 year existence, until they met Phillipe Clement. - Motherwell had not won a league game at Ibrox since 1997, until they met Phillipe Clement. - Motherwell had not won a league game full stop against Rangers since 2002, until they met Phillipe Clement. - Rangers had never lost to Portuguese opposition in their entire history, until Benfica met Phillipe Clement. - Dynamo Kyiv had not won a competitive game on British soil since 1967, routine 2-0 win when they met Phillipe Clement. - Rangers had NEVER conceded 4 goals at Ibrox in the UEFA Cup/Europa League. A 54 year record. 1-4 trouncing from Lyon when they met Phillipe Clement. - No Rangers manager since 1914 had failed to win six Old Firm games in a row, that was until Phillipe Clement. - No Rangers manager in 152 years failed to win any of their FIRST six Old Firm games, until Phillipe Clement. - Rangers have taken 12 points from a possible 30 away from home this season, our worst away start to a season in 19 years. Overseen of course by Phillipe Clement. - Rangers were the most successful club in the country since 1975, that was until they met Phillipe Clement.

james whyte

You're likely correct. Unfortunately. Regardless of issues and mistakes made by keeping him and allowing these results to continue we are accepting being 2nd best and by some way. It's just so frustrating!

Jim Milne

I am not sure he knows how to tactically change it. Away from home at least. There was a 10 minute spell in the 2nd half that we passed the horseshoe passes that much I thought we were watching GVBs team. Which there is the issue. We have a manager who knows how to play European football with little effort but doesn't have the brains, and I'd go as far as saying or support from guys like Alex Rae to support that when it comes to SPFL.

Alan Weir

Annoyingly, David, you and Caroline are both correct regarding the shitshow before the penalty. Cerny gives the ball away, Diomande wins it back with a good tackle…only to immediately give it away. Two lazy, careless passes, topped off with Hagi’s lazy, careless challenge.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We need wingers that wing All 3 goals come from high advanced Rangers players cutting the ball into our striker This inverted shite does ma head in . The amount eh times Cerny could face up his opponent and gives the guy an easy ride . Go at them they hate it Wingers that don’t wing

Jim Milne

What does Alex Rae say behind the scenes? Surely at some point he'd say something. Otherwise what's the point in having him in the management squad?

Jim Milne

That's been Clement's entire tenure Chris. Sets his team up to play with winger ls when we don't have them. He needs to adapt his tactics until he has the players that allow him to play his 1st choice tactics.

Neil Wilson

Broken record, but we are in transition. We have a squad still needing a dozen in and out. There's some good players in the team, but we need more quality and depth with non contributors moved on. Until that gets done, we are going to be consistently inconsistent.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It honestly gives me toothache Jim mate Cerny gets overblown imo … can only speak for myself and what I see he doesn’t punish fullbacks and gives them a free pass most games Stats seem to be everything for everyone now More to worry about today but the amount of times am screaming at the pitch or the telly for him to go down the line get after the fullback drives me mental mate Our goals today were all crackers as it’s advanced attacking knocking the ball back the way to your on coming striker between the posts But let’s face it it’s ok having a footballing blether about wingers or lack of Our back 4 destroy all this attacking debate 🫣

Alastair McGeoch

Tactically, this game showed Clements limitation/stubborness. Hibs get their initial setup wrong, giving us the sort of space we get in Europe and recently against Celtic and we look great. Then, Hibs change the positions of their fullbacks and get a foothold in the game (similar to what St Mirren did when we equalised) and Clement just keeps going with the formation and personel despite his eyes surely telling him it was going the same way as 90% of his away games. How can we expect the players to learn game to game when the manager and his staff clearly don’t!

Hendi

Your right Colin, this manager isn't Steven Gerrard. This manager has a track record of success in management. He's also averaging the same points total (2 per game) as Gerrard did in his first season. I'd rather face the problem of trying to find a way to beat poorer teams; than teams that are better. But he's already proven he can organise us to beat the better sides. We will work out how to beat the rest as he's able to build depth in the squad. It's a longer term project. This season was always a write off. We kept faith with Gerrard and it paid off. We've more chance of getting to where we want if we stick with it; rather than ripping it up and starting all over again...again.

Stephen

It’s not as easy as that. Panic buying centre backs might fix our problem over the next few weeks ( if they are fit to play straight away) but in a month’s time we will end up having 5/6 centre backs in the squad . You are talking about rushing into signing players who are not playing well enough to get a game for their clubs and we will end up stuck with more mediocre players for next season. This season is over. We will finish 2nd. We are better making sure we bring in the right players for next season for once instead of throwing money at a lost cause.

Glyn Davies

Hi Stephen I totaly agree & understand what your saying.....but do you want to risk the run of games we are facing (Dundee away, Aberdeen at home, Man Utd away, Dundee until away to name a few for january) with Leon King & Nsiala as our CBs? We need a short term fix in or we could find ourselves in free fall & on the end of some more embarrassing results.....YES, league campaign is over but if it wasn't for Aberdeen being as much of a bin fire as us over the past month or so, we'd be no where near 2nd place & both Aberdeen & Dundee utd are not too far behind us points wise! Obviously the names I mentioned are just a couple of examples, but fit the profile of what we need in the short term until we can fi d a long term solution to this catastrophic lack of basic defending in the majority of domestic games! There isn't a sea of contenders we could sign from local clubs so we need to look at the championship or lower end of the premiership for 6 month loans or something! We have no cash to throw about so until we of load the likes of Desssers, Matondo, Dowel & Lawrence we have to box clever & use loans & or free transfer market.....Balogun & Sterling may be available in a few weeks but let's be realistic both can't play more than a handful of games without picking up knocks, hopefuly Soapy is fine when he gets back but again he has a horrendous history of injuries too

Stephen

I do agree but we are probably needed 2 centre backs who are ahead of the level of John Souttar to compete in the long term and it’s unlikely we will get them in a January window. Might be worth getting 1 loan Centre Back in to help for the rest of the season though. Clement doesn’t even tend to put new signings in straight away and any new signing wouldn’t be able to play in the January European games ( I think) I honestly think Aberdeen and Dundee United will fall away even further as time goes on. Their squad depth just isn’t enough to be consistent in the later part of a season. As you say, the lack of options from B team level is worrying.

Graeme Homer

I’m sorry but can we stop referencing Gerrard and especially that win in 18/19 as we lost to Killie the next game and he allowed teams to collapse season in season out. Said in the summer and all throughout the season we are badly stocked in defence. Balogun should have been moved on, Sterling & Propper needs sold, Souttar shouldn’t be seen as first choice either.

Glyn Davies

It's deeply concerning when we spend money to bring Nsiala from AC Milan & let's face it they won't of been coaching for siege defending & I think that's why he has struggled to move up from the B team, as for Leon King he just isn't very good at defending in general.....very composed on the ball but again lacks rhe ability to deal with the hammer throwers & clearly why he hasn't broken through in the 3 years he has been in & around the senior squad.......good point on getting in CBs who are better than what we have but as we know there is no money to splash out & hence why we need to get a stop gap in & someone like a Portious or Hanley who would put there bodies on the line

Andrew Orr

Can talk about our failings in the game today but can't believe the comments about the penalty. Hagi and the Hibs player go shoulder to shoulder then the Hibs player kicks the back of Hagi's legs. If anything it's a foul for us.

David Kiltie

Our away form has been a constant issue but the main reason for the poor results has shifted. In our first 5 away games we scored 2 goals, which I think was the worst record in the Premiership. In the last 5 we have scored 10. It is the defence which is the issue. It seems that so many of the goals we score are crackers, and so many of those we concede are howlers, in a way that defies the laws of probabilities. Do other people share this perception?

Jim Milne

You definitely have a point David. When you break it down into 2 halves of away games I have to admit I do look at it differently when put like that.

Colin Gardner

Exactly what is it you want from Clement. He has a Left back playing right back, a right back playing center half who then goes off injured and a guy who hasn't played for almost a year! It seems you are looking for any excuse to blame the manager for goings outwith his control.

Simon H&H

One performance closer to the trigger finally being pulled. Disgraceful in game decision making from Clement today

Allan Campbell

This Rangers job is becoming a poison chalise, who in their right mind would touch us ,no transfer budget and a team loaded with over payed shitebags ,back the manager until the end of the season

GlasgowBear

Spot on. Could see the change in the Hibs shape after the second. We slowed right down and it let them back into the game. I felt we started to overplay in midfield, too many touches and inevitably leading to loose passes and mistakes. Such a poor show.

David Innes

My gut feeling is if the board were going to sack him it would have happened by now. Barring a total collapse that sees us dragged into a fight for 2nd I think he’s here until at least the end of the season

Jude W

Agree. It was a lot like the disallowed Roofe goal in the old firm which cost Beale his job. You will get one game-changing decision against you with this cohort of refs in each match, so it is a hells of a handicap the league outwith Celtic work from.

John Palmer

Rangers did exactly what I thought they were gonna do snd that was disappoint. Now the Win v Them on Thursday means less

Jimmy Price

They absolutely fkn sicken me sometimes! Another Sunday fkt! Thankfully we’ve got Igamane, but for how much longer. Lad will be gone at the first opportunity, and I can’t blame him.

Craig

Second time this season (also Tannadice) where we've started really brightly and not counteradjusted when the opposition have changed tactics to slow us down. Always try to back the manager when possible, but this kind of this is so discouraging.

Jim Milne

I don't think that'll happen Simon. I say that as someone who respects your opinion and especially the roundtable pod. One of my favorites mate. I expect Patrick Stewart to say sell before we can buy, but will not sell assets on the cheap and no immediate need to sell Raskin, Igamane, etc I've been calling for Clement's head since earlier in the season but the comment above from Allan Campbell is accurate IMO. We need to give him the season and the summer window. I didn't expect the league this season. I didn't expect the away form to be this bad, but I didn't expect almost 100% from home either. My fear now is if we pull the trigger we will end up in Pedro/Murty cycles just like they were in the 90s with John Barnes, Tommy Burns and Dr. Jo before they found Wim and Martin O'Neil. I get we shouldn't keep managers that are bad either. Look at Arteta when he had arsenal in the relegation form before he turned them around. This time last year Clement was our saviour, if he can almost beat Rogers with Barasic, Lundstram, etc we need to let him get rid of Dessers, Dowell, Lawrence, Matondo and move on Balogun, possibly Pröpper and definitely Tavernier too. That's got to be £7m in wages alone, maybe more. If Koppen can find Igamane he can find others IMO. I don't know if it'll work out but if it doesn't we will end up with John Barnes' & Dr Jo's because no one will want to touch it.

Alan Baxter

I think everyone knew this is how it would go. Not good enough as a whole. Or maybe this is just the level now. Over 10 years now since the team was competitive over more than one season. Does anyone really see it ever changing

Gordon Smith

Clement needs to go now. My fear is that this is our lot for the foreseeable. We will finish second with a run at the cup. The result last week will keep “happy clappers” satisfied and there will be no managerial change going into next season. Then this pattern will continue.

Ronnie Gallacher

As much as I agree we once again performed poorly away from home, especially from a winning position, I disagree on one point, that was not a penalty, for me it’s a foul on Hagi. Poor from ref & VAR and expect Willie Collum will be apologising again later this month on his VAR show.

Ronnie Gallacher

Not happening, you need to give up on that narrative as the manager, who we need to get behind, is here till at least the end of this season.

Ronnie Gallacher

Nothing wrong with Hagi challenge, he was fouled by the Hibs player in making up for his teammates sloppiness.
