Simon is joined by James for this weeks pod as the boys discuss the latest goings on from Ibrox over the past week on their way back from Easter Road. They discuss the win over Celtic and the draw with Hibs, as well as looking ahead cautiously to the next few weeks in the Transfer Window.

CB issues.....why do t we try get Hanley or Portious till the end of the season? Both out of favour at there clubs & would give us that no nonsense approach we are struggling with......potentially going into the next run of games with King & Nsiala at CB is more than concerning

Glyn Davies

🤣 aye probably but be nice to see a defender who isn't shy on getting physical whilst Soapy & Co are crocked

Dougie

Is this the transfer pod? Sell sell sell! If we sell Igamane this window you may as well write off 10k season ticket renewals in April.

Scott Dickson

Think 8 figures for Raskin is very optimistic. We’d be lucky to get anything north of £5million for him… Realistically we need to refresh a large part of this squad (again), which requires a lot of funds in and wages off the books. We need to stop mucking around trying to get £4million for a nearly 30 year old Cyriel Dessers, cut your losses and make him available for nearer half that if a deals done this week. Similar approach needed with Matondo and the likes.

James McSween

If this is a so called rebuild season, does anyone really think things are going to get any better next season under Clement ? I don’t have any confidence in him making things better.

Kev Armstrong

Why? If we want a player trading model we need to sell. Obvs the price has to be right but part of the reason we are here is because we didn’t sell players when we should have. It’s rangers he could break both legs tomorrow

Hendi

We've moaned for years about a lack of communication from the hierarchy at the club. Plans for communication are announced and now that's something to moan about... The manager isn't commenting on the financial situation because that NOT HIS JOB. But again it's used as another stick to beat him with.

Ryan McMillan

A passing comment isn’t an announcement, it’s a vacuum until Patrick Stewart comes out & fills it. If it were an announcement, we would have an idea on when it would happen.

KennyY

I think it’s pretty clear to see that our first 11 can beat anyone on their day and the players brought in by Koppen are much better than previous years. We need quality in depth in our squad. I know I’m in a minority but fully trust that Clement will get us back where we belong given the funds and patience from the support

Scott Tolmie

Cannot agree on diomande, id be happy to get our money back and your talking about doubling it, I really hope your right.

Craig Fryatt

You won’t get that level of write offs and the bigger issue is that even if you do it will be filled by the extensive waiting list

Glyn Davies

A lot of people said the same thing about DVie Weir at 37 years old! I think that worked out OK eh? Look I'm saying Hanley I'd the answer, but we desperately need someone in who can just do the physical defending that we need vs the rest of the SPFL teams.....& he would be a cheap option in the short term......he would t be shy of heading & tackling that's that's sure

Graeme McLeod

There's zero comparison though. Weir was a top defender who we thought was going to be a good stopgap and it turned out he was a cornerstone for years. Hanley's age isn't the main issue - he's just rank rotten. He's the Russell Martin level dross we were signing years ago before Gerrard came in.

Glyn Davies

I understand what your saying. I'm basing my logic or argument I suppose on the fact that we are skint & need someone who can come in on a short term deal whilst Soapy & Leon are injured & who could defend against the likes of Dundee United & Hibs etc etc.....wouldn't consider him as part of a rebuild or to ever be a cornerstone to build around. But with our scarce resources & desperation I just think a player of Hanleys physicality would do as stop gap until the summer, it's the basic fundamentals of the our defensive game that's killing us, we don't have anyone available right now who you can rely on to throw a last ditch tackle or just stick the head through the ball at a corner vs the 6 foot 5 WWE built SPFL strikers........what I'd give for Niko Katic right about now

Billy Forrester

I am of the same opinion, give him the tools and back him or else it’s just a waste of time

Billy Forrester

I said at the time he left hibs that porteous was exactly what we needed, it take him as he is a hard no nonsense defender

Spoon

Enjoyed the chat gents. Minor thing, think we need tos too pretending guys at 20+ are kids or need protected it’s quite the opposite they need games, battle and tempered as players. It’s where we are totally backward. Igamane is a potential talent but as always with Rangers after a dozen games a player becomes a hero or villain among the support. IF Igamane is as good as some have him already he will thrive on being the main man. I suspect he is and barring us doing what we have done recently and going back to solo striker set up he will absolutely kick on. We must get tuned in to younger players getting games and either proving themselves or being moved on asap. The way we have ruined young guys careers in recent years is criminal and I think will hurt us moving forward. If we have guys who are good enough they are old enough this 6 months to settle and years to develop nonsense needs binned.

John leitch

We have to be realistic we are not in a position to do much in this window If players go out we may get a couple of loans at most

Mark Fyfe

If that is the case and we can’t get anyone in this window, then for me it’s the best time to play players from the B team and see what they can do from now till the end of the season! Give Lovelace, Curtis, McKinnon and that a run in the team never know might find an unexpected gem in there that could get us money in.

David Kiltie

Good pod, gents. If I can maybe disagree with James on a couple of points. I can see the argument for Danilo ahead of Bajrami on Sunday- different game, different role - but if Clement had tinkered with the winning Old Firm lineup he would have been slaughtered. Bringing on Barron for Cerny is slated by James for being ultra defensive. A different angle would be that since the game for the last hour was like a basketball game, some solidity was cried out for. My perception of the main problem on Sunday was constantly turning over possession, rather than sitting back.

Simon H&H

Good point. I still think we lack that genuine 6 who can win, retain and recycle the ball consistently. Our passing from midfield is poor
