Might help the union bears if they came on shows like this and put their points over. By not engaging with the rest of the fanbase they will be ignored by both the club and support at large.

Stuart McNiven

Heard a lot of talk about apathy. Apathy would be no-one turning up, no-one protesting, no podcasts etc. Fans are down and there's an overall sadness at the fact that we're constantly misfiring and not being competitive in the league. The fact that folk are arguing with one another shows that the passion is there. We've lacked leadership. Bisgrove was a marketing executive who spoke fluent LinkedIn. I think Stewart is different. He has to take a holistic view of things but he has also said that the current trajectory can't continue. It would be easier for him to jettison the manager and get a quick win but he referenced the managerial merry-go-round at us and his former club and that there are deeper lying issues. We have to let him get on with the job.

Jamiedinho

I left at 55 minutes and i'm at the stage now where it's an actual chore watching Rangers. For me the main issues are: - A board that has no idea how to run a football club and this has been evident over a number of years that has led us to this point where vast amounts of money has been wasted. - A manager who shouldn't still be at the club. He has been given money and time yet the team has no style of football and routinely dropping points to the dross of the SPFL. - A team full of overpaid players offering little, crocks who are never fit and players playing worse due to the system. We very rarely get a chance to show our unhappiness and that is why i took my chance to show my unhappiness. Now this root and branch review may produce something but i won't hold my breath considering we have had a number of reviews of the years that have produced very little. I really hope that Patrick Stewart has some power to help run this club and sacking the manager towards the end of the season would help with this however if Clement leads us into next season we might aswell give up now, the man is clueless against domestic opposition and with a potentially worse team we could easily finish 3rd. If Aberdeen hadn't utterly collapsed we would be 3rd right now. I hope that the UB continue some sort of protest in the upcoming games, if we drop points during a protest the pressure will ramp up significantly.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks guys, i agree we all have the right to peaceful protest some fans may think it wasn't the best way but I don't agree with booing off the people who decided it was the correct way 🤷‍♂️, a negative result and the same situation continues imo

Here's the thing re the union bears, last seen running about Argyle St being chased by the Tim ultras, putting innocent Christmas shoppers , including women and kids, in fear, they have assaulted females to steal drums, then lauded the culprit with a banner of support (after he had been arrested a further time for trying to gain entry to a game carrying what was deemed as an offensive weapon) the pyro delaying games, defiantly continuing to use it after being asked not to, therefore risking further sanctions for the club, blocking staircases and exits, intimidation of other supporters around them physically and verbally, goading the folk in the cantilever who were relocated to accommodate them, rolling out the banned naughty songs, they seek no middle ground, no compromise, the don't look to engage with anyone, they see no other opinions other than their own, they look down upon other fans as inferior, the list is fucking endless, they then go seek support in their actions and are surprised when it falls flat on its arse. They are not as popular as they think they are, they are not as powerful as they think they are, the club (in particular Bisgrove and the SLO) have pandered to them, even though it was well documented what would come to pass, and surprise surprise......it's coming to pass. If they want the support of their fellow supporters then don't treat them like they are an inconvenience and relics, don't intimidate and abuse them by taking their seats and telling them to fuck off and sit elsewhere, treat people with respect and they will listen, act like entitled little brats and you will get ignored and end up looking as foolish as you did yesterday , and when the footage went viral of you running away seeking protection from the oncoming police presence (even though you claim they are all bastard's 🙄) Btw I'm in the cantilever and was looking down and nothing whizzed by this head on its way down to those below.

Graham Roy

I would hope they would try to engage with the support in general. If they want to be taken seriously then they need to have a conversation with those that don’t agree with them. In the end we all want a successful rangers but demanding change when we are in the middle of change is what confuses me. The club have made some serious appointments and only time will tell if these are good or bad. But JG stuck to his word and did what he promised he would do!

David Innes

💯 agree. They do good tifo displays. That’s about the only positive thing I could honestly say about them

Graeme Glennie

What direction are they going in? Please elaborate on that because I would love to know that. You can talk about the direction of the protest that has no money or figurehead behind it, but we are trying to start something. And you can flip that on its head and say if we are to do nothing then where are we going? How many more years do we wait for this "plan" to come to fruition?

Christopher woods

It was nice not having to listen to that drum so one positive to come out of this cluster fuck of a season

William Alston

The club are keeping a manager employed after taking 13 points out of 33 away from home. That alone was a good reason for people to protest the next day.

Kristian

Couldn’t agree more with the podders. The timing of the protest wasn’t great, being one month after significant change in rhetoric boardroom and executive leadership, and 24 hours after the new CEO acknowledged that things have been abysmal and started to outline his plan to fix it. Equally, people absolutely have a right to express their dissatisfaction… but the demand wasn’t at all clear - aside from “we want our team to be better”. I’ve read people say the aim was to get the manager fired, others want to “sack the board” (half of which have only been relatively recently appointed) and I’ve even read people saying it was to demand that “Douglas Park should resign” (something he did in April 2023…). It is undoubtably true that some opposed the protest simply because they don’t like the Union Bears. One question though, there were reports that fans in hospitality were threatened on Saturday with having tickets for future games cancelled if they joined the protest. Has anyone at Heart and Hand asked the club to comment on that? To reiterate, I don’t think the protest was the right thing to do yesterday, however I would be furious if the club had threatened fans who did.

James Murdoch

Lads. Apologies if this is out there and well established. Is Patrick Stewart running the club. IE could he walk into Ibrox tomorrow and sack Clement (not saying he should) or would he have to run that by the board? If he would then surely there's no real change and he's just a figurehead. If he does have carte blanche to make decisions fans need to give him time to get on with it.

Colin Carstairs

Totally agree re the protests… To the point about selling Igamane etc.. If we as a club are serious about the fabled ‘Player trading model’ this is to me where we fall down by not having the next Igamane lined up & in the building ready to go.Get we have to get rid of a lot of dross who are contributing absolutely nothing while getting handsomely paid which btw isn’t their fault, they got offered a contract which they accepted willingly. This Season has made all the other seasons come to a head (55 apart) where we as a club have got bye & fans have rightly or wrongly had enough. Massive changes required going forward & my trust isn’t in this current board/management to get it correct. Gerrards point after winning 55 is coming back to bite these incumbents hard.. To many backslapping & thinking that’s it we’ve cracked it. 4yrs since then & we’ve regressed at a rate no one can be proud of.

Dougie

Real divide in support between those who want revolution-tear it all down,it's a shambles- versus those who want evolution-sort the bad, build on that which is good. I don't see a way to reconcile those 2 sets of supporters.

Kristian

We don’t know, without seeing the details of his delegated authority. He has said he’s very much in control of day-to-day decisions but it’s hugely unlikely that any one individual will have authority to hire or fire the manager. It was the same under Dave King’s chairmanship (and most clubs without a single majority owner). It is likely that Stewart would make a recommendation to the board and it would vote to approve or reject. What I would say is that, as someone who answers to a board myself, if he continually had significant recommendations rejected then it’s unlikely he’d last long in role.

Heart and Hand

No problem mate. What are the stated specific aims of the protest? How is it to be achieved? What measures do you want introduced. ‘Change’ is too vague. What sort of change?

Heart and Hand

With regards to no money or figurehead, these are issues that will need addressed. For better or worse I was that guy for the RST. Any protest group needs assigned representatives to go out and get them publicity to convert people to the cause and to fundraise.

Kristian

Thanks David, I’m relieved to hear the denial (if only because it indicates they know it would be disgraceful).

James Cameron

With regard to Dowell and Dessers coming on instead of youngsters... Definitely the shop window and showing they're fit.

Vanb bryceter

The Union bears do an utterly amazing job with their support and tifos. Walking out was absolutely unnecessary and the antithesis of what we as a support are quite rightly renowned for. The banners got the point across and if they really feel the need to protest do it at the front door before and after the game. I get we are all scunnered with the board the manager and certain elements of the team but it's not going to change overnight. The cup has to be won and Clement needs to show us a clear indication of bleeding youth into the team he has the rest of the season to tinker with tactics and shape etc

Hendi

Club Desk hospitality boxes were told that if they left their seats on 55 minutes they'd be escorted back to their seats. Some balls whoever made that call, considering they pay around 90k+ per year for a box

Hendi

No manager living on a game by game basis is going to be thinking about using that match for youth development. He's going to go with those he felt he could trust and have experience. Imagine how poisonous that atmosphere could have been if we'd went 1 down, then someone gets injured and he's relying on Baily Rice to rescue his job? Never going to happen.

Greg

Items did come down because 2 cups landed Infront of me. Well done on your essay all about the union bears, you clearly give them plenty of attention.

KMS

And therein lies the attitude that has brought you and the bairns to this point, unsupported, disrespected and ridiculed across Ultra pages for your viral running away antics. You are basically like domestic abusers who then expect their victims to stand up in court and defend them, and that's towards the fellow fans of the team you claim to support. There is no 'union' with you and any bears other than yourselves.

Rona Bluebell

Most of the Union Bears are young I think, so they have my sympathy as what have they got to draw on from the last 12 years domestic wise? The effort they put in is amazing. I don’t agree with walking out but can see why they did it.

Stewart Robertson

Maybe I’m just getting old. My idea of protesting back in the day, was refusing to give Ashley my money for a top, and instead buying the black and red striped RST top (which is still amongst my most cherished). ❤️🖤

Tommy

Good listen lads Do you not feel that a lot of the tension + anguish in the support could at least have been partially avoided if the club had addressed the support with honesty at the start of the season? If they said upfront that money is tight, the manager has inherited a real challenge, we’re going through a reset process and it’ll take time until we are the finished model. We are backing the manager to get there and want the support to show patience. If they had done that then I think they’d at least have secured some level of understanding from the support. I recall saying as much to you David near the start of the season. The club has never been honest with the support in my time following the club so I appreciate it’s unrealistic to expect that to change now. I’m no comms expert but the current model clearly hasn’t worked in the last 40 years

Heart and Hand

Yes yes yes yes yes yes 😀 I said on here that they needed to go with ‘this season will be bumpy, we really need you sticking with us’ etc.

Graham Jones

Some people are stuck in a rut, and just want to keep doing the same thing over and over agin, which we all know is the first sign of insanity. That is what is happening when some are calling for the managers head. If we sack him and the new guy sucks we will her told you so. And if he wins the first game we will hear the same thing from the other side. We have sacked the last two at a similar period of the year, and it just never works out because the powerbrokers are the issue. The decison makers are not doing their jobs well, and those people are circling the wagons around themselves with executives, possible new proxy board members and the manager, who is the first person they plan to sacrifice to save themselves. Until other people come forward wanting to buy the club who are suitable owners, then we are not going to get rid of them. They wont allow Dave King to return, despite his track record in raising investment, and also his leadership skills that steered us through a tough rebuild of the club and squad and he left us within touching distance of winning the league title. It should by rights have been him celebrating on the park that day, and not the Park’s of Hamilton.

Craig

I believe Patrick Stewart is going down the right road with the root and branch review of our club. The club leadership has been disfunctional since before 2012. We haven't yet put in place a stable executive / leadership group with the ability to run a club the size of Rangers. From the outside looking in it has felt like a squabbling bowling club committee at times . In my opinion we are broken from the inside. We need the organisational structure of both the business and football operations fixed before we sack another manager. I have no choice but put faith in Patrick Stewart to get this right and that will in time include a decision on whether Clement remains. But now is not the right tone to sack our manager in my opinion.

Michael Thomson

Not sure I understand why your saying there isn’t any stated aims from the protesters guys. They were pretty clear in their statements before the games. The want the current failed ownership to sell up. They want the manager sacked.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

One of our biggest issues is a serious lack of threat wide on the flanks Everything is into traffic We have to get natural pace that go down the line and add a threat and a bit of chaos in the wide areas

Stuart Black

Protesting is petulant? Tell me you’re out of touch..

Ross Baird

I agree with Gary that the timing wasn’t great, but not for the same reasons that he stated. I know the RSA were involved too, but I feel the UB’s street cred is at an all time low because of the Santa hat/Argyle street nonsense that has come in same season as the incident with female St J fan. My niggling doubt with the recent appointments is that they are still there as place men for the previously failed owners who have stepped down from their roles. Everything our owners touch seems to turn to sh*t now and if new CEO & Chairman have been brought into their roles, but still have to run everything past the Parks, for example -then it’s pointless and we’ll continue down same path. I hope Stewart in particular is given the freedom and authority to do his job properly.

No time for hooligans who rampage up and down Glasgow bringing the club into disrepute. No time for any ultras groups and the fact they might amongst their numerous other illegal activities have a message doesn’t interest me in the slightest. They are an embarrassment to the club much like other clubs ultra groups are. Each fan decides their own engagement or non engagement with the club, it’s an ecumenical matter as someone once said. Genuinely don’t get the sympathy for a manager who has had vast resources placed at his disposal and squandered how he used them through a combo of bad player management, poor tactics and inability to coach. The idea he has been dealt a bad hand doesn’t have any real basis and while I understand the executive of the club has been a shambles I’m not convinced that impacts him daily. In fact having little scrutiny or oversight has probably kept him in the job longer than he should have been. Are we suggesting he has had to do the jobs of others ? If not what is the impact ? While I was delighted to see the young CB get his chance this should be the norm and not a seismic event. Too many prospects come here and rot on the vine. We should be committing to developing of talent as our pathway back to success and I am bored beyond belief hearing a guy 20 plus being labelled a kid. The younger you can get solid game time the better, and only through playing someone and seeing how they develop so you know if they can be a player. The amount of potential we have squandered is only eclipsed by the wages we have wasted on players either not up to standard, sitting on the bench unused or constantly injured. There is little beyond a few bright lights in terms of young players to keep interest in this team with the current management set up. This is meant to be entertainment, there is meant to be hope or at least movement in a club to provide fans something to get behind. Unfortunately what we are being served is far from acceptable and the concept of ‘we can’t change it as we have changed it before regardless of it failing’ not only doesn’t work it’s starkly depressing. Only my opinion, appreciate others will see it differently.

Andrew Whiteside

On the game, quality drops when the changes were made. Dowell, Dessers, McAusland are not adequate replacements.

Neil Anderson

Great pod lads, with regards to the Narsa challenges, I wonder how much is genuinely Rangers being shite fatigue vs cost of living pressures and tough decisions needing to be made as money is tight for many.

Revan1872

It is sadly ironic that so many of the points made during the "we deserve better" campaign are still extremely relevant to fans protesting in 2025

Steven Robertson

RSA- The RSA calls on the club to take decisive action and relieve the current manager of his duties UBs- the dismissal of Clement is necessary Everyone else saying for months clement needs to go then when there's a protest where 1 of the aims was to get rid of him- booooo who do u want rid of. Jesus wept

Fraser Wells

This might be a bit of a stretch, but hear me out - we conceded right before the 55th minute protest and and our performance really dipped in the second half. I didn’t think it at the time but the protest was almost a lightning rod for a poor goal to lose and a rough start to the second half. I’m not saying if we’re 3-0 folk wouldn’t of booed but maybe not the volume and not as toxic.

james foster

I dont think Dowell was even coming on until Danilo got cramp. Seemed to be a hastily arranged change. Danilo has only completed one full match since his return from injury, seeing him down with cramp in a game like that might explain why he's not played so much, especially in the away games where it's generally higher intensity etc. Just a thought on why the managers changed the team from one that was a winning formula, hes possibly struggling to get up to required fitness levels.

Stuart Mowat

I don't think we can blame the protest but there is no doubt a fully charged support behind the team at 3-0 gives St Johnstone a much harder mountain to climb and we see a more energised team. That is my main reason for thinking that the choice of protest was misguided. Protest by all means, but don't have it impact the success of our team.

Heart and Hand

It doesn’t say that in the UBs statement mate. The RSA have called in their statement for that and that is a clearly stated aim but it was a bit unclear that’s what the protest was aimed at and none of the banners called for it.

Heart and Hand

Imo - and it’s just that - issue a joint list of actions to work towards ie: The removal of the manager. A commitment from the following shareholders to acknowledge their failures and look to sell their shares. The appointment of x,y and z. Clear and unequivocal.

Tom McDavid

Re NARSA. Personally we were thinking about it but didn’t fancy the set up. Would prefer to be in a city rather than a complex well away from bars etc

James Cameron

😭 I didn't want to go that high - shameful that this was signed off at the time - hopefully this new exec board fully stop such silliness

Steven Robertson

Given how universally it's wanted & that both groups called for it in statements literally a day before the protest statement, I took it as given that was part of it. No doubt message could be clearer but I was very much of the opinion that the protest was against the manager as well as board. I think reasons for not sacking him given by PS are the exact ones we've all said aren't acceptable 1. can't keep sacking & 2. hope it turns around with time. Felt it was an open goal for PS to prove he's not a yes man & willing to make tough calls. I hope I'm wrong but I took no confidence from his interview & felt more concerned after it.

Ross Keenan

We have seasonal hospitality tickets in the club deck and, in my experience, this was definitely not the case

Heart and Hand

Well my views on the manager are pretty clear so it’s not something I would disagree with. Personally I think it’s highly unlikely he’s our manager next season.

Barry Kerr

David and Gary both spot on in regards to the protest. No issue with people protesting but the lack of detail about what they want to change isn't helping their cause at all. More detail then they may get more support but I do think the UB made it all about them on Sunday by standing in silence and not celebrating the goals. Don't bother turning up if that's the way it's going to be might even be a better message to the club who went out their way to help them move to where they are now.

Alastair McGeoch

This feels like Big Ecks last season where his Champions League run essentially kept him in place. Clement is likely making it to last 32 (with straight to last 16 possible) in Europa league. Even if it looks like we might not get 2nd I expect Clement will not go (Big Eck finished 3rd in has last season). My main worry is we replaced Eck with Le Guen and I don’t think I could handle us repeating that cycle again!

Hendi

I wasn't in a box on Sunday, one of my best mates was though, and is every match. He told me that when i asked about the threat to tickets. I trust his word, but obviously I wasn't there myself. He said the box next door were told the same thing and were fuming.

Andy MacArthur

No issue with protesting, but don’t do it during the game. You can’t complain about the teams performance then pull away your support. Luckily we were in a comfortable lead, imagine it was 0-0 and the protest had a negative impact on the result.

Luke

If you can’t predict Rangers will be the dominant team at home against bottom of the league, what kind of football manager are you? 🤣

Craig Fryatt

Thanks Gary, still hoping to make it to NARSA but waiting for rotation confirmation. Is there a planned itinerary yet?
