John Smith

Gutted when I woke up to no seagulls

Alan Weir

A minor point from last night, but it’s been comedy gold to watch Aberdeen go from “the future of Scottish football” to the pile of shite that that hoofed about Ibrox last night. Horrible team and grotesque fans sent back north to their imagined wee rivalry with the Rangers.

Russell McGhee

Easier said than done re Matondo and Dowell, both of whom have been a colossal waste of money.

Derek MacMillan

Dowell is David's Bete Noire. You'll be sad when he's gone 😂

Craig

How does Matondo go from coming off the bench to change the game at half time to no future at the club in the space of two matches?

Martin Boyd

Nowt wrong with a bit of Tom Petty. Dowell the beige player to end all beige players. Matondo was bought because Wilson was dazzled by the £’s he once cost and thought he was a bargain. Neither will be missed , young players could do what they have done. Could do with a couple more going.

Alan Weir

Dowell is one of those players where it has simply been impossible to work out what football talents he is supposed to have: passing? scoring? tackling? “good engine”? dribbling? covering back? inspiring others? Maybe he just lives local and brings the ball to training?

Graham Roy

I can’t be bothered listening to the manager anymore it’s just the same every week! Always seems to somehow bring the situation he inherited with injuries over a year ago! Was glad we won last night but let’s not pretend it changes our season as we all know unless he changes something then we will struggle against Dundee Utd next week!

Colin Mathie

Matondo, scored a belter to make it 3 each against that lot, to now being told to do one.

Heart and Hand

I actually feel genuinely, really bad because he seems a good lad and it’s not his fault we offered him the deal but I just cannot understand what a manager saw in him.

Graeme McLeod

I don't feel bad at all, but I'm a nasty bigot and "Kieran O'Neill Dowell" just won't do for me.

Stephen

No way we are getting any money for any of these guys. Will be loans I would imagine . I notice the Greek team that took Cifuentes have decided against signing him too.

James McSween

Agree, manager needs to be judged on Away games now. We need to start winning away games convincingly.

David Innes

We could get some money for Matondo - I actually think he’d do quite well in the English Championship with his pace, probably his level tbh

Stephen

Wouldn’t bother with the press conferences. He won’t believe what he is saying either. He is just saying what he needs to say to keep his job. We would all do the same if we were close to getting the sack and had the chance to stretch it out as long as possible.

Stephen

But they all know none of the fans here rate him and we are desperate to get him off the wage bill. Will be another Todd Cantwell situation at best.

Graham Roy

Not sure where you got giving him stick?! He beat a poor Aberdeen side at home so it’s not as if that’s an achievement. Would you bet your mortgage on us beating Utd a week on Sunday with the current manager?

David

Will we replace the ones that leave considering we already need a centre half

Graham Roy

Don’t disagree to a point but let’s be honest he has been saying the exact same things from day 1! Blaming previous managers and injuries isn’t why our away record is awful under his tenure.

Mark Harvey

The booing of Dessers last night was a disgrace. Thankfully he was able to block out the idiots, score a goal and keep his value up.

David_Davy_Dave

A few tests coming up regarding our ability to sell Firstly no repeat of the summer ensuring we recover some value for Dessers, Matondo etc that leave this January Secondly holding our nerve and keeping Igamane for all of next season before we sell Finally the hardest one which is looking at Bajrami, acknowledging there is a decent player but not good enough, then moving him at the end of one season and at a minimum getting our fee back. On age, international profile etc that should be possible. It’s a really essential bit of player trading that rarely features in our discussions

Neil 55

Crazy money we've paid out on run of the mill players. It's no wonder we're in debt.

David_Davy_Dave

He did Generally though he is injured 80% of the time The other 20% when he features he dribbles into people and hits shots to row z invariably having a right good chuckle to himself along the way He’s not reliable, he’s not good, he’s not professional… he is though emblematic of our terrible recruitment

William Noble

Hagi and Clinton passes were excellent last night

John Davidson

2 million a year for Matondo and Dowell. The biggest waste of money since the last Commonwealth Games.

William Noble

As always David excellent podcast

Kev

Is Tom Lawrence not out of contract end of season?

Chris Scott

What I’d like to know Davie, is what are our centre back options next Thursday? Because if Pröpper is out for any length of time, I make it no fit centre backs in the Euro squad. Man Utd might have a chance of beating us after all.

Kevin Nicholson

Cheers for a bit of Tom Petty David - love it. Great update too. Thanks 👍

Chris Scott

I didn’t think Balogun was in the squad, but thanks! Hopefully Sterling can make it, or maybe we’ll see a back three

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks again David, thought hadgi had a really impressive game along with most of the team , we go forward with an optimistic view👏

John Johnston

If we get shot of Dowell and Mantando, can we use the money saved to get shot of Clement. Win win if you ask me.

That UFO Podcast

Shameful treatment of Dowell on the update where Davey. He scored early against Motherwell Dec ‘23. A huge goal. 👀😂

That UFO Podcast

In all seriousness though, £2m a year wages on Dowell and Matondo just sums up why we are where we are

Graham Leatherbarrow

Good to hear we are getting rid of the milk men who have been getting paid plenty for delivering so litttle, no more prem/ champ clowns better get young hungry under 21s, playing to establish their careers. Find a few more like we brought in last summer the way ahead.

Billy Forrester

Cause he is uber shite. Scoring a goal against that lot doesn’t make up for the fact he is an awful awful footballer. Fast and useless

Tommy

Why are we deciding + announcing about Dowell and Matondo now? Should we not have informed players and let other clubs know about this in late December ahead of window opening? This to me suggests we yet again are not organised, planned and continue to do things in a reactionary way. I’m disappointed as to how we’ve approached this window. There’s a feeling we are not prepared. Yes the DOF may well have his hands tied but his job is to do the wheeling and dealing - getting people out is just as important at getting people in. Yet again it looks like it’ll come down to a Jan 31st panic and it’s not good enough.

Billy Forrester

When did he come off the bench and change a game, he came off the bench at ht and was his usual awful self

Craig

Well, changing the game was the plan, obviously it didn't work haha

G Calder

Celtc were very much advantaged by both your examples of wasting money !

G Calder

I had to laugh at the UB’s booing the subway loyal leaving at their usual 70 mins 😂 Then singing ‘we can see you sneaking out’ As well as that indignity , the subway loyal missed 2 good goals 😂
