John Smith

Not a chance he’ll resign

Greg

Im not surprised he's fucking frustrated, he has to go but my god the players we have and the absolute rot in our club is depressing.

Ryan Fairfield

Well done on being direct and to the point. He needs to know we are Rangers and this is not acceptable in the slightest

8luenose1872

If a manager cant get them to come out in the 2nd half up for it then hes not good enough for Rangers

Christopher Doak

Must be hard listening to the utter nonsense he is coming out with.

Craig Cation

They need to sack him. This downsizing of the club is frightening from standards, expectations, and success.

Jim McCutcheon

Clement isn't the manager we need he's who we are stuck with it seems , he says it's a two year rebuild 🤦‍♂️

Craig

We have moments without consistency, we’re not a club making any kind of progress. An absolute embarrassment today, can’t get past lower league opposition in a bread and butter game!

Alan Weir

Clement’s treatment of the “past their sell by date” players - and letting one continue as captain - added to the complete mismanagement of youngsters with some potential - ridiculous/wrong minutes almost every game - together with the promotion of players who barely want to be here, suggests he has lost the plot and has to go.

SC81

I will go as far to say that if the board do not sack Clement then we officially support a diddy club.

Linda Mackay

Omg we are in an awful state as a club. How do we get out of this position. Really fear for us as a club and whether we can ever get back to seriously challenging in Scotland. PS. The Europa League run, whilst bringing in much needed revenue, gives us no consolation at all.

LMcGrath

A way back with good results? What exactly are good results going to achieve? The trophies are all gine, on the 9th of Feb no less.

Calum Downham

Club comms were a disgrace before the game. You had the manager and Dessers both saying we’re aiming to win the Cup First of all, that goes without saying, you need to get to the final first. Judging by Clement’s presser on Friday they thought that today a win was a given We do not have the right to assume we’ll win any game domestically, mindset of the players so, so wrong to assume we’ll get to the final never mind win this game FFS It’s a cliche but, Walter Smith and even Gerrard were good at taking one game at a time, don’t say anything stupid that could bite us on the arse. Does Clement think we’re good enough because we’ve won at Tannadice and nearly drew at Old Trafford? Useless

Ryan Stewart

It’s not on Clement to resign and it’s completely unfair to expect him to imo Whoever signed off on the extension in the summer should be finding the money to end this This is the clubs mess to fix, not Clement’s

Craig Guthrie

It is very 1983. Couldn’t agree more

John leitch

We shortened our options by giving Phil a contract extension This now seems to be a questionable decision

John leitch

He won’t resign He was given a lifeline by being given a contract extension Over the last few years the board have made bad decision after bad decision

Fraser T8

A generationally bad result. Better managers have not survived this. The manager must go.

Roderick Boyle

David , That was 100% the players who were at fault , the starting eleven should have been well able to win that by half time . They were incipid , pedestrian , couldn't pass , nor shoot at goal . On this occasion the manager isn't to blame .

Stuart Sheils

On the upside, David will need to wheel out Martyn and Andy on the flagship… In case of emergency break glass for those two, just don’t ask any of our strikers to do so as they’d miss.

KMS

The most rangers thing in the world, extend the contract of a manager who had done nothing and achieved nothing, and now we have the shitshow on top of the sideshow that is the utter laughing stock we have become

Graeme Smith

Lumping crosses into the box against a championship side, seemingly being the tactic is absolutely garbage and sums him up.

Andrew Meldrum

On the way back from Dens, I decided to view Clement as akin to a caretaker manager. I could get that sacking him then involved spending money we don't necessarily have, and waiting until the summer when the uefa prize money and season ticket money comes in might be the best option. I could also see that Patrick Stewart was just in the door and probably would want to hold fire. I felt that Clement had built a cup team, capable of one off good performances but incapable of consistency. I still don't think they will sack him this week, because it's more affordable come June. BUT. Patrick Stewart will lose credibility if he doesn't act. He, like every one else, only gets so many let offs. It's obvious now (surely) we will need a new manager come the summer, and we probably want the new name announced ahead of season ticket renewals. It's all about timing now, and who we get in.

Andrew Meldrum

That's the biggest reason I think he has to go. His tactics seem to involve (being kind) quick counter attacks or (being harsh) kick and rush. There's no plan for a team that sits in. The players don't seem to know what to do and that's on the coaching staff including the manager.

Andrew Meldrum

The manager's job involves motivating the team, and picking players who will be up for it. How many chances does Bajrami?

Brian Rae

We couldn't even afford to bring in a 1st team loan in January. (Fernandes isn't 1st or 2nd pick) How is this shit show of a board going to afford to sack an entire management team with 3 1/2 years left on their deal and bring in an interim or permanent appointment? Mr Best in class really has done a number on our club. The way we've been ran for the last 3 seasons or so has brought us here and those clowns who booed and threw objects at those who protested a few weeks ago must feel vindicated now, eh? Some of those players are not fit to wear the shirt and the manager shouldn't be the only person blamed here. They clearly thought they would cruise it and just needed to turn up. I was at the Hamilton defeat all those years ago and despite only being 9, I don't remember the same apathy and hopelessness that's going around now.

Robert Bryers

I agree and disagree. It was crap first half then got WORSE after the manager had 15 mins to reset them. That's on him

Andrew Meldrum

The only comparable result this century came when Caley Thistle went ballistic. Barnes went. Dalglish was appointed caretaker, and O'Neill came in in the summer. I only say this to point out that if we plan and appoint correctly, the gap right now isn't insurmountable.

Scott Dickson

Might as well let him carry on until the summer. Make a clear statement saying his position will be considered after the last game of the season and that barring anything short of a miracle in Europe, he’s on borrowed time. Use the next 4 months to find the replacement and get all the transfer business for the summer sorted. Look at Muscat or an equivalent. We need a manager who makes us a coherent attacking side specialised in breaking down low blocks. None of this constant state of “putting out 11 high paid players and hope we get an individual moment”, that we’ve relied upon since Gerrard.

David Abercrombie

If the Board forgives this result (by doing nothing) it will continue to happen.

David Innes

It shouldn’t have mattered what team we put out today but why the hell didn’t we start with 2 strikers?

Jim Milne

I had been yo-yo-ing until before Christmas, then I settled I'd seen enough in some big games that I backed Clement long-term. I've debated on here for longer than I should have defending him, limited funds, rebuild, injuries, etc. This result changes everything and I won't be changing my mind. At 46 this is the worst result in my lifetime, I'd even say our history. He has to go, and go tonight. No Rangers Manager should EVER survive this result.

Nikky Cairney

Have avoided commenting on pods for a months or so now as I reached a stage where my views on Clement were pretty scathing. I’ve been calling for Clement to go since Aberdeen away and could see proper concerns in pre season. I’ve mentioned the standards in our support being lowered to accepting 2 or 3 wins in a row as progress. Even though performances have been bang average. Picture any of our previous managers of any standard coming out with the tripe he did after the result today. Gerrard for example would own any defeat and take responsibility. This clown tells us we should’ve scored 5 goals when in reality we created nothing till the last 5-10 minutes. Today wasn’t a shock for me. This type of result is always possible under Clement because of how we play. It’s just a matter of a team scoring first against us. Could’ve happened more at ibrox this season in certain games but he got away with it. Hibs at home the best example when they were the better side. I just want him gone. I need him gone to feel like I have something to look forward to with another manager. An utter imposter who shouldn’t set foot in Ibrox again. And see for the fans who have tried to defend him whilst being 13 points behind in the league and losing two of form cup finals. Hopefully you wake up now and realise what Clement is. If this result doesn’t then nothing will.

Linda Mackay

I'll never forgive this manager and these players for what they have put us through today. They simply do not deserve the support. Humiliating and shameful.

JimGLW

David, I'm glad you said this in the interview. It is essential the manager understands this is an end of days thing. Horrifying if you are the only one telling him this.

David Innes

I’ve been deluding myself for a while into thinking he’s been making progress, it’s a transitional season, we’ve been unlucky with injuries/decisions etc etc but you are spot on. He is never going to be a successful Rangers manager

Andrew Hind

It's done but unfortunately Clement and board are the only ones who can't see it

Bryan Watson

I was a literal baby during that time so have no recollection of it but my dad has been telling me his feelings from that period to process what we are going through now. Winning the double (after winning the treble the year before), going the season unbeaten vs Celtic and finishing 25 points ahead of them - his exact words are "You just thought those days would last forever and ever". Then they appoint Martin O'Neil, scud us 6-2 at Parkhead and win the treble. It goes to show that as much as we are behind them at the end of the day, its Scottish football. If we get our ducks in a row, appoint the right people, buy the right players, play the right way, we can overcome that gap no matter how big it seems. I fear the Rangers board are so paralysed by the possibilities of what could go wrong that they are willing to stick with the certainty of what they have right now - which is terrible

Graham Leatherbarrow

Board will wake up at season ticket renewals time, many currently have paid for league games and not going, will they pay again?

Scott Stewart

It’s Simple …. We are in Some Mess for the one mess. The overspending and resulting cost cutting has come home to roost. The players lack self motivation , desire and the few good ones have there eye on there next move. A utter shambles. Furthermore over the last year clement has made some crazy statements, excuses , team selection and subs! All which has added to our demise ! What a f..king mess! The club needs major investment and a new manager !

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Guys we pretend to each other that a number of our players are off the standard that it takes to grind out results weekly. We need to stop pretending about several of a lot starting 11 across a season. They will get nowhere near the Celtic site So why are they good enough for us?

Keir Maginess

David, have u or any other media guys ever asked why clement goes straight down the tunnel after dropping points but will happily come out and take the plaudits when we win? If not, is it something u can ask? As someone who goes all over Scotland & Europe following the team, it’s something I hate. He will send the team over to fans to take the flack but not him.

David Kiltie

The revenue from Europe is vital. As I understand it the revenue from reaching the EL top 8 is equivalent to winning about 10 Scottish Cups/ League Cups. Please correct me if my figures are wrong. Also if player trading is going to take off then we need players to impress on the European stage.

David Kiltie

Yesterday follows a familiar pattern - a stinker of a result follows some good ones, then another stinker. This pattern makes it clear we need a change at the end of the season.

Scott Watson

"Why are we playing a team nicknamed the spiders?.... what is this?" Martyn's gallows humour is probably the highlight of this season

Keir Maginess

I’m not sure what that’s meant to mean. Has the question already been asked & I’ve missed it? Is it a silly question?
