No interim management team update disappointing

Steven L

4 hours for that. Fuck sake

David S.

It was the right decision, but I feel for him.

Marc Patterson

Thank god this board are at end of days. If this is all they can come up with 4hrs after the story broke. It is becoming embarrassing how it's being run. Local bowling club stuff.

Neil 55

At last.

Alan Cowan

Maybe he'll buy £1.2m of shares with his dunny money. Thank goodness he's gone.

Thomas scroggie

I do like the man and I hope he goes on and has a good career but he just didn’t have it to be rangers manager and I don’t think he properly got the club

Robert Lawless

I think they were agreeing a reduced payoff. So fair play to them if they have managed that. If the rumours are true Clement has agreed to walk away with 50% of the agreed sum.

Doogz

Glad it’s done, let’s hope takeover gets done and new guys working hard behind the scenes, we need a top class manager to head Rangers, no more project bullshit, someone that demands the highest standards, and dosent suffer fools lightly.

Marc Patterson

Fair play. He should have walked. Also our CEO said money wasn't the reason so why would a reduced pay off be needed. 😔

Rose Mcloughlin

Once again we are at this stage...I wanted him gone but feel terrible this constant sacking is against our Rangers traditions...so please choose the new Manager wisely...we cant keep destroying peoples lifes like this.

Graeme Smith

At last finally but the lack of confirmation of who is taking the team in the short term is very interesting

Peter Hosie

Good luck Phil but your arrogance was your downfall. From not having characters having bigger profiles than you to your insistence there was no assistance needed for our set pieces.

kenny ianson

Fed up with this endless cycle of sacking managers a year or so after hiring them. It was the correct decision to sack him, aswell as the previous ones, but the club need to look at the recruitment process as it's clearly flawd if we keep appointing the wrong managers.

Graham johnston

It had gone to far and had to go but his sacking can't deflect from how badly the club as a whole is being run. He didn't really have a chance with the fuck up over the stadium at the start of this season and dreadful recruitment policy over the last few years. I've read online by some people that he was a worse manager than Pedro and Beale but he 💯 wasn't . Still he didn't really get us and played to safely to much. So he was never going to turn it around. With regards to the new manager I'm happy for the to have a temporary manager in place until the summer. There's nothing to play for an at least a caretaker can blood some of the youth without the risk of the sack. Also the new manager needs to be attack minded and get the team to play faster. In some games recently and for years really the team r so slow at getting the ball back in play. Some corners take us over a 1 or 2 to just swing it in badly. It's ridiculous and benefits inferior teams.

Bryan Watson

Similar to Gio, dealt a terrible hand, reading between the lines it seems he was blatantly lied to / mislead during the recruitment process and had to deal with utter nonsense earlier in season re CEO etc. However, no style of play, we have looked worse with each passing week, his comments at times have been genuinely embarrassing and some of the worst results in our recent history with arguably the worst result in our entire history chucked in there. I wanted him to succeed but its not worked out and this is long overdue. Wish him well for the future and hope the 49ers can give us a platform to reach unseen heights, starting with the appointment of a manager who can dominate, and I stress this specifically, THE LEAGUE WE PLAY IN EVERY WEEK.

Graeme McLeod

Not really getting where this "he's a nice guy" sentiment is coming from. None of us know him as a person, but in press conferences he came across as increasingly arrogant and dismissive. Guy came here thinking he was above Scottish football and paid the price. It's about time we stopped appointing managers like Beale and Clement with no real understanding of Scottish football. A Rangers team needs a strong domestic core if it's going to be successful, and if the people in charge of coaching the team, in charge of recruitment etc don't understand Rangers or Scottish football, that's never going to happen. I'm not saying the next manager needs to be Scottish, but there should be someone like Kevin Thomson in the management team. And that manager has to be willing to listen. A key difference between Gerrard's time and Beale's was that Stevie G had Gary McAllister - someone who definitely understood Rangers.

KennyY

We are supposed to be a big club. The board should be hanging their heads. What ever happened to best in class. They appointed all these managers. Does anyone have any confidence that we won’t be back in this position next season.

Bryan Watson

That should be caveated with that person also needs to know a thing or 2 about coaching. Alex Rae being there on the basis of being staunch hasn't saved Clement. Just want a playing squad and managerial team full of winners, who are ruthless, quick and want to dominate games.

Stephen

Who? Genuinely can’t think of any Scottish managers who would capable of doing any better.

Graeme McLeod

Yeah, 100%. I think Thomson would work as he was a winner as a player, has been at the club as a coach and has had a brief stint as a manager. Just can't see him coming in to be a yes man either.

Jamie W

With this takeover imminent you'd like to think the mistakes of this board are a thing of the past.

Rod

If this Barry Ferguson story in the record is accurate Patrick Stewart should follow Clement out the door.

David P

Dreadful manager, casts serious doubt on the quality of the Belgian league if he can win 3 titles. You can talk about his lack of tactical adaptability but I'm not sure he had any tactics to adapt from.

Stephen

Can’t buy into this ‘needs to understand the Scottish game’ requirement. On day one someone will explain to the manager what is expected of them and the fact that a draw is as bad as a defeat. A good manager will listen and work accordingly. A good manager will have researched this before accepting the job. The problem we have is the ones we employ don’t listen. Bringing in a Scottish manager who has finished 6th with Kilmarnock etc is not going to be a better option just because he knows what Scottish football is like.

Mark Boyd

What a badly run, classless club we have turned into the last few years. The custodians really should hang their heads

Craig

I can relate to that too. Personally I would’ve kept him until the Europa games had been played. For all his faults (much like Geo - he seemed to be able to setup the team for Europe). Someone I know heard Dio and Raskin out at dinner the other night talking abut him and said the they weren’t saying anything negative - but could see he was losing focus. He got dealt a seriously shit hand at the start of the season; no home games, multiple injuries, being put in the firing line with no structure around him. However, he stumbled on a formula and when it was successful - decided to revert back to the setup that didn’t work previously. ‘Man is nothing but that which he makes himself’ Riddles, baffling subs and hallucinations of synergy and dare I say - coming across as aloof - will never ever be accepted by our supporters. Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you can start rising again. Let’s get behind the team, stick together and remember we are about to start a new journey that even that lot are jealous about. The period of inertia is over and a new sun is coming.

David Johnson

I'm not sure what Alex Rae brought to the table. I very much doubt it was for his tactical expertise, so it's likely that he was there as he knew the club and was seen as the person to be able to provide motivation. Aye Clement should have had us coached better but Rae should have knocked the shitebaggery out of them at the very first sign, and he failed miserably.

Simon Botterill

PC had to go but he sums up the challenge we find ourselves in. Being the Rangers manager now in this league under this board is as challenging role as you will find. What we can't do is recruit another manager who is not willing to adapt to the environment we are in. PC and Gio before him (Beale was not fully qualified regardless) could or would not adapt or did not accept what was required. I struggle to come up with who the right candidate for this unique challenge but they must fully accept what the actual challenge is and outline what they will do but the board must create a new platform and change their way of acting and working. Being nice is not a option at board level, managerial level, player or captain selection anymore. We must be very calculated and intense in all areas of the club.

Graeme McLeod

I agree with this entirely. Ideally we could find a manager within this league, but there is no Alex McLeish waiting in the wings. So we are going to be looking out with Scotland. The key is appointing someone who doesn't think Scottish football is beneath him, and having people at the club who can help them adapt to what's expected at Rangers. Michael Beale got far too much credit under Steven Gerrard, in my opinion, because he was hyped up as the tactical mastermind. Gary McAllister was just as important as he understood the institution that Rangers are and could get that across. That's been lacking under Beale and Clement. The next manager needs someone like that, as well as being willing to listen to others.

QB_72

Moving on and hopefully up now as I'm tired of feeling down watching the Rangers at the moment ❤️🤍💙

Billy Forrester

What has Kevin Thompson ever done to have this faith in him? Listening to him in Rangers Tv doesn’t store me with confidence

Stephen

Yeah, I could understand if there was a guy who has been in Scotland before and gone on to better things but there is no one like that. Bringing in a McInnes or Naismith etc just because they have managed in Scotland is mental. Especially because they have never managed in the style that Rangers have to play. Definitely need to strong Scottish assistant as you say.

Billy Forrester

Snakes in the current dressing room would love Barry, be a snake cesspit. Barry loves nothing more than himself and would fall out with himself in an empty room, great player but a very difficult individual

Craig

Unable to beat jobbers away which resulted in them beating us at home too! This terrible hand he was dealt is nonsense, we have a squad able to beat everyone bar them consistently. We needed consistency from our manager and players and we got “special moments” which fell back to the norm soon after. We needed to stand up and be strong at the back and he chose to sign Proper a CB not up for the physical challenge of Scottish football, unable to brake teams down time an again, he did not understand our game nor did he learn in his time. I’d like us to get a manager with vastly more experience than the previous 6 have! There’s the lesson the board are not learning, bring in experience! Albeit Phil did have the most, it was not enough.

Tommy

Ferguson? Jesus fucking wept. Whole Board needs booted out.
