Rangers survive going two down in a shocking first 30 minutes to get Barry Ferguson a comeback win in his first match in charge.

That game was fuckin mental. 😂

Jamie Bell

I, for one, welcome Barry Ferguson as our new head coach

Ross Monro

Not a chance we come back from that under clement

Gareth Williams

We showed fight David. If that had been Clement it was 4-0+. They aren’t bad players, they just had a manager that was clueless in Scottish football. After 1 game, I’m from going WTF- Barry Ferguson!?!? To, could wee Barry actually be the guy that instills that Rangersism back into the club? I fucking hope so! Onwards and upwards!🇬🇧😀

That UFO Podcast

McInnes blaming the phantom corner, but what about that offside flag when we had a 3v1

Rona Bluebell

I’m calling it now. Barry will be grey come June. 😄

Andrew Meldrum

I realised something in the second half. At 3-2, Killie getting a couple of half chances, we needed to just keep the ball for a bit. Under Gerrard, Gio, even Beale, we could just take the ball and keep it for 5 minutes, make the opposition chase shadows while we got our breath back. And we've lost that. Unless we are playing at 100 miles an hour, we struggle.

Scott Stewart

Magnificent. Oh Barry Barry …. Superb , perfect substitution at the right times. Very brave. Good character ,desire and quality. Enjoyed that! Well done. Great start. And eating my words on dessers. Long May it continue.

Derek Stevenson

Reminiscent of Advocaat v Shelbourne. First game. Wild then suddenly it clicked and it went from utter rage to “ok, this is a Rangers I like!” Well done Barry & McCann for the change early enough. Also reminiscent of Advocaat who hooked Johansson, Vidmar, Ricksen & Moore within 35 minutes!!!

Tony Houston

When they went up 2-0, I was thinking we wer done. But fair play they stood up got the result.

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks David I had the fear but we did steady and put in a fight dare I say 😀👏, work to do for baz an the team

Scott Stewart

Tav was epic at Cb and lead the line well. Our Cb are soft as shite . Good football and grit , a very difficult place to recover from being two nil down. Buzzing

Iain McKay

Nice to see some passion and proactive decision making from the management team. Whatever else Barry and his staff do in their time they'll be able to teach these players what it takes to be successful in this league. Hard work, fight, digging in, winning battles are just as important as ability. Tonight could hopefully be a useful lesson for some players.

Sandy Fraser

There’s something so right about a Ferguson being involved and us winning. Still think we made a massive error not signing Lewis but it is what it is. Let’s hope Barry goes from strength to strength 💙

Norm

Connor saw an offside that didn't exist and Sky didn't think the handball in build up to there 2nd was worth a 2nd look. Phantom corner did need a deep dive though.

John Smith

A fucking love Barry Ferguson

Derek Stevenson

6-0 Saturday. Rest easy David, the ticker will be fine 💙🤞🏻

Rod

I've given this appointment a mountain of criticism and TBF it looked justified for half an hour but credit where it's due. That sub sparked the team and we never looked back.

Vanb bryceter

As expected a rollercoaster of a first game. Good call with the change early doors. Loved the passion of Mcann and Ferguson celebrating together. Dessers the original enigma wrapped in a conundrum ,but I can't help liking him

Steffen McAndrew

We need 2 central defenders, 2 midfielders and 2 strikers.

Norm

There are better centre backs than Propper in the Scottish Championship

Ross Monro

Right man, right time. We've lost our identity this season and a lot of fans have became disconnected. We chuck the " he gets it" tag around probably more than we should but whether you like barry or not he undeniably does get it. Although there's nothing physically left to play for domestically this season there is pride. Onwards and upwards.

8luenose1872

Yea that offside he gave on dessers was fkn nuts considering he was looking straight at it. I just wished we scored so he could have been shown up even more.

Jamiedfa

2nd half much much better and a Dessers special

8luenose1872

And surely var can't look at a corner to see if it was one after a goal comes from one. Tbh I think they were looking to see ( i mean praying) if propper was fouling at it

8luenose1872

Barry's not changed much has he, he was moaning like fk on that sideline all game 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Loved it!!!!

Andy MacArthur

I know it might sound ridiculous… but there was something Gerrardesque about how Ferguson carried herself in the dugout. It was a breath of fresh air On another note, I don’t think my blood pressure can handle one more game with Propper at CB!

8luenose1872

That's twice now he's strolled it at CB. Wonder if that's what they will do until we get players back. Fk I would be playing him there instead of propper too tbh.

8luenose1872

That offside was ridiculous considering he was looking straight at it. He seen Dessers and just assumed, tin pot officiating.

Simon Botterill

Propper is a coward. Left Nsiala to drown when he should be guiding him as a senior pro. Scream at him to not let balls bounce etc. No leadership

Scott Tolmie

Dessers superb tonight and delighted for him, another season with a great return. Not much else was great bar the results.

Scott Stewart

We were crying out to get our true identity and tradition back. Long time overdue and delighted for Barry and his back room team. Great start . WATP .

KMc

Couldn’t help but smile listening to Barry talk in the post match discussing character and identity. Basically everything that’s been missing from Rangers for a while now. Absolutely delighted for him and his team. That’s what winners do - win.

Scott Stewart

Agree on proper but also the lad got to learn that from academy fitbaw the basic from an amateur Cb don’t let the ball bounce attack everything! Plus Raskin pissy pass back aswell sometimes you just need to hook it to fuk, a Cb job is to change the direction of the ball and attack the thing don’t let it bounce. Have it!! Boom up the park .

Heart and Hand

I get slightly annoyed by the sneering dismissal of ‘he gets it’. No, it’s not the sole requirement - but if you look at Clement you see what happens when they don’t.

Martin Sutherland

Was born in 1990 so Barry was very much the Captain of my youth. That was a special night seeing him back with us again. Surreal

Graham Jones

Really pleased we won, but we got away with one tonight. Still, we don’t go back there now this season. The pitch looked really difficult tonight, more than usual. We could’ve been three or four down and not had anything to complain about, but the Cerny goal comes at the right time, and it was a good advantage by the referee. Dessers first was a lucky one, because the ball never touched anyone after Hagi shot, but we’ll take the breaks as we;’ve had fuck all this season from them. His second was a mess by Killie at the back. They got caught ball watching and didn’t pick up Dessers. The fourth was a peach of a goal, and one that gives me confidence for the tie against Fenerbahce next week. If we go there and remember to defend then we’ve always got a chance if we break like that. Nsiala looked out of sorts tonight, but that is youth for you. They can lose themselves a bit at times, but he’s probably played too many games recently. You have to take young players out from time to time. Good win and three points. That’s all that counts for tonight.

Heart and Hand

I also think a young CB should have an experienced partner to talk him through the game - David Weir was the master of it - and what he had next to him was Propper.

QB_72

Couldn't disagree or dispute anything about that game David, spot on my good man ✌️

Scott Stewart

Btw to score four goals in any game is fantastic , to score four away from home after being two nil down is incredible,,,no mean feat !

Fraser Black

I think when this staff was announced everyone concentrated on each of their own individual achievements. However, could it be that as a team, merged together, this could be quite useful. Ferguson does give you that aura of the figure head, wee McCann certainly looks like the tactics nous, and Dodds will be the voice in training and driving those standards and helping build up some confidence. It could actually work this . . .

John Palmer

I nearly turned the game off at 2 nil down and by God Am I glad I did not. Ferguson's inspirational substitution and rejig at the back was superb. I thought at 2 - 1, the best we could hope for was a draw. But when the 2nd half started and we hit back early to even the score, the belief emerged and Rangers just went at them with some solid fast paced passing, hard tackling and quick to retain the ball after losing. Coming away with a 4 - 2 win was beyond expectation and to see Barry show his fire after every foul, goal and at the end of the match is totally what we've been missing. We go again v Motherwell this weekend, then take on Fenerbache back to back and then, a huge game v Them at their Midden with OOOOOOOOH Barry, Barry. Barry, Barry, Barry FER GU SON, at the Helm. There'll be fire come the day 😁

8luenose1872

I know Dutch football isn't as rough but how the fk did he do well in that league? When it comes to defending he is so bad and its not just the rough and tumble, everything about his defending at times is pathetic!! Confidence will be playing a big part but at his age, if u crap ur pants as much as him then there is no hope at Rangers.

8luenose1872

Yea u would think after the St mirren game where that exact situation cost him he would have learned but it was every single time he was doing it, madness tbh.

Norm

I think everyone is baffled by his performances, he was Twente captain after all 🤷‍♂️

Vanb bryceter

Me too but after digesting where we are at this distinct moment I can kinda see the thinking behind it. For me I was buzzing with the passion on the touchline moreso than what was happening on the park. Our last 3 managers seemed souless and I loved Gio before any smash.

John Palmer

I like at when 2 nil down he was calm and in assessment mode. He consulted his team and acres fast. Clement would've waited til half time to do anything to change it but by then we would've been 3 maybe 4 nil down as Nsiala and Propper were having a total nightmare. I feel sorry for Nsiala but you could see he knew he was having a Mare
