Cheers David have a great day. I've had enough of this team. New season fresh start please and a memory wipe would be the icing on the 🍰

Stace1ofthePeople

David what is your gut instinct on the takeover? What do you think they will change /implement? Will rangers or the new owners let us in on what they are going to do? Change? Do they share any plans etc or is it all kept quiet ?

Andrew Rennie

Can I ask what is your take on fans moaning about the club captain role. People for years have said tav isn't "captain material" if you go back a year people wanted butland as captain as he is a leader. Now people want raskin as captain and butland sold. I feel like our fans put to much emphasis on it. If fans had there way we wpuld be changing club captains as often as managers imo.

james whyte

Hopefully they come in and bin anyone who has been in a decision making position which has led us to where we are at present. Which is a bloody disaster.

Heart and Hand

They’ll say vaguely but anyone expecting details will probably be disappointed. They’ll run it like a major business. Have a vision and a plan to enact it.

Stuart Finlay

Seems like only 5 people at the club get what it means. The four new coaches and big Leon.

KennyY

Another Monday going to work as a laughing stock. Seriously sick of it. Handed them a treble on a plate once again. We need a massive player turnaround in the summer.

Stuart Finlay

Does matter how good are bad they are theyre still pickup salaries every week that most fans work months to get close to, to help pay there wages and supper their own familes. Charlatans the lot of them. Honestly struggle to find one I'd want to keep on the payroll.

Heart and Hand

It’s more important at some clubs than others, and ours is one of them. The reason being is exactly what you say - people place importance in it so it becomes important. Now, we can debate whether it SHOULD be but we can’t deny that it IS. You’re not just the guy with the band, you’re the focal point for fans and an ambassador for the team in times good and bad. Captain will be revered in successful times and criticised heavily when not. You don’t need to have an armband to be a leader, but at a club which seems directionless on the pitch, if you do have it people will expect it from you. That’s just the reality.

Martin Howden

I’m really excited. I’m not expecting a stupid spending splurge. But I’m hoping their funding takes us to the next level and get the type of deals done that we previously just missed out on - your simas, Tillman, veerman and skov Olsen’s. Just a higher level of player that is not massively unrealistic

Scott Watson

And yet manager after manager, including some fine captains, seem to think he's got something they like

George Higgins

Excited but not getting carried away about the takeover. I see people online talking about years of dominance about to start right away. Let’s get a reality check. First we need to get a properly run club. We have very important executive positions needing filled. We also need a good new manager. Recruitment has to be better. No doubt the review will throw up 101 other things that could be done better. Then there’s the financial impact. The 49ers can’t just come in and start buying a new team of superstars . The financial rules don’t let that happen. It’ll need increased income through stadium expansion, better sponsorship deals, better hospitality packages and probably increased prices. A proper player trading model too. A lot of the changes won’t be popular and won’t happen overnight but will take time. We need to be patient and cross our fingers. Not a thing our support is known for.

Rose Mcloughlin

Have a nice break you all need it after having to come on and describe these games as the rest of us walk away trying to forget about everything Rangers so we keep our sanity...hope you catch some sunshine.

Gordon Millar

Takeover is the chink of light at the end of a long dark tunnel! I know it won't be perfect but this season gave us an insight to what we can achieve under the current regime. Hopefully better times ahead🙏

Graham Roy

When you’re winning no one cares. The reality is the captain takes the brunt more than others right now. When we won the league no one was having a go and saying he wasn’t a leader then!

Stephen

100%. Will take a while and I still think it will take a huge drop off from Celtic for us to win the league any time in the next few years. I assume they will still qualify for champions league more often than not so any extra money we have from this takeover isn’t a guarantee that we will be back on level terms with them.

Revan1872

The Man City play with a small team is an outdated argument anyway. Half their team is usually over 6ft and the rest are either rapid and or physically strong. Koppens decisions in the transfer market have been poor and he seems to have doubled down with signing guys like Cameron who is more of the same

David Innes

I’m not old enough to remember 1986 but certainly feels a lot like 2015 to me which unfortunately means things are likely to get worse before they get better 😐

CJT

Things off the pitch going in the right direction. On it I often wonder what the much vaunted profile for players actually is. Top of my profile for Rangers players would be character then physicality or if not made up for by an attitude and aggression to stand up to the Scottish game. Thereafter I’d look look at age, saleability etc. I’ve seen to many talented footballers here who shrink under the weight of the jersey. If we have half a dozen with the right approach and aggression the others less blessed with those attributes can thrive but we’ve had none for so long now. Hopefully new guys will recognise winning here will be the key to the CL riches. Winning here, Ibrox and Scotland as a whole, takes character and the right attitude to marry with the skill. Can but hope.

Heart and Hand

Scott - he always led by example. Drove the team on. Unfortunately he can’t do that any more. To be honest, the other more vocal style of captaincy doesn’t work when your legs go either because you lose authority if you’re screaming at others when you’re as culpable as they are too.

Stuart cunningham

Tav has to be dropped and the formation needs changed to protect the back 4 or the next two games could be a soar one

John leitch

Hopefully the takeover happens We need a re fresh We won’t be able to spend millions but it will be a fresh outlook on the club We have been stale

Billy Forrester

Finally some good news, hopefully we see some real quality added to the team in June and the vast majority of these useless players gone, I’m done with them and don’t want to see the vast majority next season, they are abysmal and can go and find a smaller club that suits their talent or lack of it

KennyY

We need winners. Those who are unwilling to accept second best.

SC81

The last thing the Parks and other shareholders can do to salvage some kind of goodwill is to let this takeover go through. The players are what they are (not good enough to win trophies at Rangers). This can only be sorted by a change in ownership.

James Stewart

The part about the technical players I understand having big lumps but the issue I have we have technical players that just don’t look coached do you not think if we had a manager/coaching team in that would work with these players and coach them better you will get a more better product

Heart and Hand

Some of them, yes. But a team is like a jigsaw, it's putting people together. You can't have a frontline with four players who aren't quick for example any more than you can have four speed merchants with no technical skills.

Rona Bluebell

To use my professional voice on the progress of the takeover ‘thank fuck for that’.

Blaine Tosh

Who makes up the leadership team now. Would you keep any of them, Or a full change of voice in that dressing room be beneficial

Neil Anderson

Hopefully the 49ers have some great recruiting practises already in place with Leeds and others that can be leveraged urgently and reduce the Russian roulette style Koppens has embraced so far.

Granters

I’m chuckling at the thought of random staff in the 49ers online shop perplexed at the sheer volume of emails they’re getting with handles like HenrikBhoy1888 frantically trying to get someone to listen to their story about Rangers being a masonic cabal that sacrifice children on a pentagram altar 🤣🤣

Neil Anderson

I think outside Balogun we have a leadership group of fragile cowards. Remember Sterling being mentioned as part of the LG, I have seen few players who I believe football is a job for rather than a passion than Sterling.

Jim McCutcheon

Sounds the best news at this point David 🙂, 22mil doon the back o the 🛋 for these guys 🫡😁

Granters

I think one of Clement’s big mistakes was not bringing in a Captain. His Captain. The next manager needs to do that as a matter of priority

Bryan Watson

They do. Was down in Leeds when the news broke so was speaking to one of my colleagues whos a Leeds ST holder about his reflections on their tenureship since they took over in the summer. Biggest takeaway was the use of data analytics in recruitment. Leeds have the best squad in the championship but been put together for relative pennies transfer fee wise. Granted they do have the highest wage budget in the league but not by much (think Sheffield Utd and Middlesborough arent a kick in the arse off them)

David P

I can't wait for this takeover to go through because we need to start being run properly. I'm expecting investment into the squad in the summer but I think we need to remember it's Scotland we play in. I little investment done properly can go a long way. The midfield that won us 55 Davis, Kamara and Aribo cost us £50,000 (sort of) Alfie cost us £1 Million.

David P

Koppen should be on the way out. I have no faith in him.

Andrew Meldrum

You won't get a memory wipe. In about 4 years, David and the team will conclude the final installment of the Michael Beale Madness, and the Clement Capitulation Chapter will kick off Episode One.

David Clapperton

I don’t think it can be considered a completely new regime if Koppen is still in place to oversee a rebuild of HIS rebuild. You win the Scottish league with either physicality or huge intensity and the perfect recipe is a team with both. He’s signed neither. Another one that doesn’t understand what’s required here. It might be archaic but it is what is, so you need to deal with it. I would also expect that if these people are of the calibre we’re told they are that they would have their own people already earmarked and lined up ready to go, ideally already getting irons in the fire.

Pete

$$$evco 😄

Ryan Stewart

Promised myself I wouldn’t do it but all my eggs are firmly in the basket of this takeover happening. Honestly doesn’t even bear thinking about it not happening at this point We are long passed the stage of needing refreshes or rebuilds, the club needs a complete reset and start again Appointment of the next manager is absolutely crucial, it needs to be someone who can grab the support by the scruff of the neck and carry us with them. I just re watched the video of Gerrard being unveiled, we need something along those lines. Two words in his press conference and he had the whole support following him

Alastair McGeoch

To be fair to big Balugon, he’s right! I don’t want to hear from 99% of these player again until it’s their heartfelt goodbye message to the fans on social media before the fade of into obscurity. Koppen, I have little faith in - one question I had was, was the formation Clement was wedded to being set by Koppen in terms of the continuity/strategy of the club? Either way, I don’t think he’s shown any grasp of what we’ve needed in the short term nor medium term apart from Igamane and possible Dio. If takeover goes through, I hope it’s a complete clear out with maybe Ferguson providing some sort of input into the types of players needed.

Lee

It's not true about man city either now about them being a small Brilliant side. They have more than their fair share of monsters now as well ( who also happen to be technically brilliant)

Steven L

hiding in plain sight, it bursts my bollocks.

John Palmer

End of this Season can't come quick enough. Tav played his 500th game at the weekend and some factions of the Support couldn't give an F just the same as our Then and Now. A Rangers Captain with that amount of appearances has been let down by so many Boards that failed to do Business the right way, this is where the 49ers will hopefully fix that. Better Business minds = better use of money = Better Players = Trophies

Graham Jones

That debt was run up by the same men spunking away millions of pounds on the wrong players, three managers and their coaching staff, and not mention a facility that has not shown it will earn the club significant funds anytime soon, if ever. I’m yet to be convinced this new lot will do any better. They will need to install a team to run the club, and we have no idea yet who they will be. I’m not at all happy having an association with Leeds United, a club I’ve never liked, and I can only imagine what Tess will be saying about it. I can’t believe you’re having a go at Koppen. He had almost no funding to work with in rebuilding the squad. That’s the sort of thing a tabloid puts out. The root cause of all failure is the board of directors who’ve called the shots for three years or more now. Supporters are forgetting that.

Ross Russell

Be interesting to see if stadium naming rights are up for grabs, and the reaction.

KennyY

Don’t agree. Think he has done pretty well so far with what he had. Jefte, Igumane, Diomande will all turn us a profit. Only Propper and Cortes haven’t been a success for me. How many of the last few years can we say that we’ve brought anyone in who was a success never mind turn a profit.

Niall MacKay

I think every listener would forgive you if you just avoided discussing the first team games until next season. Balogun speaks well and he should probably get our player of the year this year for actually resembling a Rangers player as we know it. The rest barely deserve the contract they have here.

KMS

The majority of these players have already checked out, basically going through the motions till the season is over and they can scurry off to smaller clubs with less demands, less ambitions and smaller fanbases. Absolute oxygen thieves the lot of them, they are ripping the piss out of the support, ripping the heart out of our club, stealing a wage for providing fuck all but cowardice, apathy and an attitude that stinks to high heavens (more than the backcourts of Glasgow's East end)

Greg Wilson

Great update. My dad says it every week how small a team we are, playing in this league we need more physicality. Too many games we are bullied.

David P

They need to turn a profit 1st. The amount of players we've had over recent years that people have said that player will make us an absolute fortune only for them to leave for peanuts is ridiculous. The proof is in the pudding, look at the side he's built and tell me he's done a good job.
