Matondo, Dowell, Cifuentes, Kasanwirjo, Danilo, Davies Cortes should have all be options then you've got Yilmaz, Sterling, Souttar, Balogun who are usually out injured for periods. But Clement was the problem. We've got a team with about 13 options, so player fatigue, style of play and competition is all out the window. Instead of keeping Clement and possibly going through to quarters of Europa and make money we've cost ourselves money and likely get a pumping from Fenerbache.

dotty 84

Yes they're shite but my point is those places need filled. Now Kasanwirjo got injured and the rest of the dross was prior to Clement. If our fans could lay a little sympathy we wouldn't be a laughing stock right now.

Alan Cowan

From that starting 11, I'd keep, Raskin Diomande Jefte and Igamane. Sterling, Cortes, Souttar. Curtis Rice Nsiala and Kelly keep these. The rest should be phased out of the team from now until the end of the season. Rumour is Muscat with Barry as assistant. Not sure if it's valid or not.

Allan Elder

The only way I’d be watching that back would be a la “A Clockwork Orange”. You poor sods!

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks guys 👍,level of hope for our clubs future goes upwards with this news imo

Damien Stubbs

It’s a depressing time to be a rangers fan, so I’ve started taking joy from David using ye olde archaisms, they are present in most pods and if I spot them I both enjoy them and give myself a pat on the back. Todays - odds and sods…a classic that I will use as many times as I can this week 🤣 I can confirm it brings 99% more satisfaction than my other hobby, watching shite being served up each week. Keep them coming David mate

Heart and Hand

Clement wasn’t THE problem but he was A problem. It doesn’t have to be one thing, it’s usually a mix.

james whyte

Bajrami and Propper are mind boggling signings of epic proportions. And the apparent fee for Bajrami is criminal.

dotty 84

So we spend money sacking him and replace him with an amateur? Let's be blunt, we're skint and desperate for money with as it stands a lack of sellable assets right now we at least had a manager who could deliver for us in Europe and bring in a few million and honestly after Seville, who knows we may have gotten just as far this time. It was a short sighted decision, again to appease the ego of our fans because players couldn't score from 28 shots 9 on target from QP. Also weren't we all in agreement we are in transition for this season and maybe next? It's utter mince. Also hasnt our budget dropped like 5m this season that's 3 players worth on 32k a season that's removed on top of all the player pied off on loan because their pish and always injured. Blows my mind when the picture shows the guy doing miracles at the shambolic running of the Club.

Damien Stubbs

I feel a segment coming on 🤣 I don’t know if Todd reads comments of shows he’s not on but it would be fun if you turned up to the next record and just spoke in Victorian English throughout without explanation. Again, probably vastly more enjoyable than watching Rangers

Drew McAllister

Positive thoughts for going forward but the season 24/25 purgatory is a real low point

David P

I think we're in for a real tough time of it these next 3 games. I don't see these players lifting it for Fenerbache who are btw a right decent side. We're really, really bad. We've seen it from Rangers teams in the past lifting themselves for Europe. Not from this depth though. We aren't a good side playing poorly. We're a poor side playing even poorer.

Jim Milne

Actors in the wrong movie? It's more like a nasty porno, only they're fucking over 50,000 in 90 minutes.

David Innes

At least we didn’t pay much for Propper - he’ll go back to the Dutch league in the summer. Bajrami will most likely need to go out on loan

David Innes

I keep hearing people say they think the team will lift themselves for Thursday but I just don’t see it happening this time with the confidence running so low - would bite your hand off for a 1 goal defeat as expecting us to be out of the tie

Jim Milne

Bajrami's scouting report must've been an old folder Ross Wilson left on his desk that Koppen found. So far for me it's a terrible use of funds that we're already severely limited. $14m+ for Bajrami, Cortes & Danilo. 🙄

Jim Milne

Jefté needs to start showing he is learning. His positional sense defensively with the same kind of crosses and passes is alarming for me.

Jim Milne

If the players hadn't downed tools against St Mirren then Clement would still be here for Fenerbahce. After Queen's Park, then that St Mirren performance, and now Motherwell there is zero evidence for me that Clement does anything against Fenerbahce......and I am someone who was preaching patience for months. The players stopped listening to Clement and experienced or amateur interim likely won't make much difference unfortunately. There is transitional seasons and there are disastrous seasons, a transitional season should show progress. I don't see any, in fact I see regression.

dotty 84

Players aren't good enough as a unit but 100% there is player fatigue through fitness and drained mentally as there is no competition or way to change anything up with limited options. Clement for his faults more than delivered in Europe. The only validation to sack him was if we brought a new full time manager in to settle them or bring in an Interim with experience in European competitions to get us through. We chose none of those options.

Graeme Homer

Sorry but Propper was a Clement pick on the back of advice from Ulderink and Koppen has experience as he was assistant DOF to Earnie Stewart. Yes he wasn’t the main man but he was doing the job to a good degree and PSV seen him as a replacement for Stewart. He told us the type of signing is based on what the board have designated to him as what they want from a player trading model, guys that can be punted down south after a while here. If we want to change that then the new owners will need to see that agenda. The issue with the squad is more legacy issue like the shite Beale and Gio brought in Dessers, Butland, Sterling, Ridvan, Lawrence and resigning Balogun and the rest away in loan yet to permanently shifted. On the youths it’s dammed if you, dammed if you don’t tbh. Look at McAusland any time he comes on he’s getting abused despite his lack of game time and I fear the like of Rice and Curtis will be the same as they’ll make a mistake, the boo’s start as it’s miserable all in at the club and it will spiral. However if we can’t play them now when there’s nothing else to lose then we can we!

Ross McDonald

See the academy head of football, Zurab Amirian, is no longer at the club. Another actor who was in the wrong movie

Jason Allan

We need a fresh start with this takeover, professional structure, new ideas, some investment and a direction we can all get behind. In terms of the squad this has to be the last rebuild; let’s buy more athletic and taller players, suited to the domestic game, break up the current leadership team, who fail us so frequently.

Andrew Meldrum

I saw Clement as an interim manager from Dens Park onwards. But it was patently obvious in his final 3 games he had lost the dressing room and the players were no longer listening.

Andrew Meldrum

I was trying to things on Saturday that were positive, or at least interesting developments. It got harder as the game went on, but here is my very short list. 1. After watching McCann talking about our tactical failings for most of the season, it was pretty obvious he had been trying to get us to hit the byline, at least on the left. Jefte got in good positions to cut the ball back a lot, and there was some good options. Dessers had two chances that should have been on target at the very least. Didn't happen on the right flank, for obvious personnel reasons. 2. It was very definitely 442, especially in the first half. Igamane made no attempt to drop deep into midfield. Under Clement when we played 2 strikers either Danilo or Igamane would drop into midfield, but not on Saturday. It didn't work but it was interesting. On physicality, I don't think it's all about size, it's what you do with it. Barry, McCann and Dodds were wee gallus players. Big Bert was built like a shithouse, but easy to knock down. Far too many of this team go crying to the ref when they should be leaning into the challenge and taking the hit.

Jim Milne

Unless you're in one of the top 5 leagues you are not getting an experienced manager in as interim, and if you are see Aberdeen with Neil Warnock. An experienced manager doesn't want to be an interim. Nor are we going to hire a permanent manager when we are in the middle of a takeover. 90% of the time an interim is someone who doesn't have experience or someone that is purely available. It's the nature of going with an interim. The board selected a former player and surrounded him with arguably our best ever goalie, and Teo coaches with managers experience. One of which was in a Scottish Cup final a few years back. Under the circumstances and time Patrick Stewart did the best he could IMO. Clement lost the dressing room and no manager can survive where we found ourselves as a club, he had to go.

James Neil

Completely agree with the pod - there is no fear in playing us anymore . Not sure we should be surprised - Barry has us setup similar to Clement with the same players - we are dominated in midfield because it’s always 2 v 3. Barry says he has watched us every game - if he has I am stunned he hasn’t seen one of the big issues is our midfield being overrun every game. Would love to ask him his thoughts on this.

Graham Jones

I wish Barry the best, and hope he’s successful, but he’s out of his depth. Graeme Souness sidestepped the question about his appointment, but it spoke louder than him saying something. If the new guys have any sense they will ask King to return for a period and help overhaul things again.

Angela Frater

Listening to your description of the way Rangers have been run is exactly the same as the way my Riding for the Disabled group has run... and that's concerning in itself. "The way it's always been done" is such a barrier to progress and I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall trying to modernise so totally get it!. Hopefully with the new owners they will break this down and modernise the way we are run, drag us into the 21st Century. P.s when are we getting McGowan, the financial master's take on all this?

Hendi

Whether Koppen has failed depends on the brief he was given. I'd hazard a guess his brief was to identify those with the potential to generate optimal resale value, rather than sign players to handle the Scottish game.

Andrew Wilson

Is Jack Butland out of form or is he just reverting back to type after a very good start?

Hendi

Fanciful thinking that we are a club/fan base dying to embrace the latest data driven approaches. Half our support has spent the season foaming at the mouth when we have applied basic sports science approaches to manage injuries, that AC Milan were using in the late 80s! Even now we have appointed an interim management team because they "get it", "have passion" and "have watched every game this season". That's not signs of a club desperate to embrace new ways of thinking...

Nikky Cairney

Not going to hammer Barry because he’s in a dog shit situation. However to watch every game we have played this season, then decide to come in and play the same shape and system that hasn’t been working takes some special thinking. Anyone with a brain can see we don’t control games and that’s cause we ask Dio and Raskin to do too much running and they more often than not get overrun. I think sometimes people think 442 is more attacking than 433 when the fact is without any control 442 is like having a man down. Play 433 and let two number 8s play high when and press.

dotty 84

What I'm getting at is that Clement strongest attribute was us in Europe, we're out of everything domestically so why punt him even before we're out of Europe? Now we've spent money sacking him with the potential to get knocked out, whilst under Clement in Europe I'm pretty sure the majority would own up to preferring Clement over Ferguson. There's millions to be made still, it's short sighted and damn right stupid to get rid of him right now.

Mark

We might need to be prepared to suck-up certain things we don't like under this ownership. I'm thinking particularly of the Australia scenario from a couple of years back.

Campbell Maclennan

DEFENCE - FIX THE DEFENCE AND GOOD THINGS HAPPEN AT RANGERS

james foster

Bajrami will be shifted no problem. Still playing international football and has performed well v celtic and in Europe. Not suited to Scottish footballs run of the mill games but we will get our money back on him.

Scott Watson

Rationally it made sense to keep Clement for the only meaningful games we have left, where he has a very decent record Patrick Stewart obviously wanted to The mood was just too toxic There is a case to be made that we've managed to make a grim situation even worse just for the sake of briefly feeling better that someone got sacked but I don't think circumstances allowed anything else

Craig

My biggest concern about the takeover isn't anything the new owners might do while in chatge, but what happens after 5 or 10 years when they decide we haven't been a good enough investment, or things have just naturally ran their course. What happens when there's no Rangers men there to prevent them selling us to the first vulture that comes along? What stops them stripping the club for parts before selling it on?

Scott Watson

Their reputation affords a certain level of protection They obviously have big ambitions - if they sell us down the river then they'll have a harder job buying their next project

Angela Frater

In reality what assets do we have to break up that will actually interest a company/investment firm like that? Ibrox? Can't do anything with that due to the listed frontage. Auchinhowie? Really? Do you think an company worth nearly 8b is thinking, oooh we might make a couple million from the sale of a training ground, a handful of tangible assets and a few players. Highly unlikely. Their motives are about brand and increasing brand marketing, their company will be bugger and brighter with good assets like clubs like us on their books. In turn this makes them more interesting to other investors for a variety of reasons/tie ins. Their size surely affords us some sort of security. This isn't Craig Shyte rocking up claiming to be a millionaire while driving an old volvo in a cheap suit.

Big Shug

They say it’s always darkest before the dawn….dave Marshall on surely means a Simpsons pod is in the works..oh and the takeover will be good too
