Martyn is spot on re. Salah. A lot of fans want him signed up on these ridiculous terms for what he’s done, while Richard Hughes and the club are weighing up contracts based on what players are going to do. I think he’s one of Liverpool’s greatest players ever but the curve of his decline is going to be steep, and you can’t be paying someone 350k-400k a week while running the risk that the performances against Mendes and Livramento end up happening against a Mykolenko or a Mitchell or a Udogie.

In terms of starting outs and ins, I think Jota (and Darwin) and Diaz will be sold, Salah will go, Trent might go and Virgil will probably stay. There will need to be between 3 and 6 starting XI players brought in depending on the contracts and what Slot decides to do with Bradley. His injury record is a concern for me but might be an age related thing. The kid is absolutely brilliant and deserves a run in the first team if Slot can accommodate it tactically, which I have no reason to believe can’t happen. A left back will come in but not necessarily immediately to start, but for Tsimikas to leave and for Robertson to potentially be phased into a rotational position. But do Liverpool want a squad player on 150k a week?

Spot on about Liverpool and with Salah. There will be a massive drop in his form next season as quite simply he can’t maintain that for 2 years at the top level. I still maintain Newcastle might be genuine title contenders next season if they can get some key signings right. And more importantly hold onto Isak etc.. Although the bigger question next season is will Man Utd be able to avoid the drop!

I think ideally you keep Tsimikas where he is, move Robertson on and buy a first-choice but that’s easier said than done!

Would probably give Salah a 3 year contract to keep him happy then sell him to a Saudi team after 1 year. Thats the best deal for everyone

Absolutely delighted for Newcastle

I’ve genuinely never rated Tsimikas. His high point was the FA Cup final penalty nearly 3 years ago. Can’t say he hasn’t given everything but the dropoff from Robertson to him is astounding.
