Banners supporting the team only Don't use pyro Don't throw things Not difficult to grasp. Although it seems to be.

Douglas Wright

Singing of songs that shouldn't be sung is far worse on European nights. There are far more people who don't go week to week are European games and its generally that crowd that I seen getting those songs going. Wish they would just stop

Ronald Fraser

Lifetime ban is too lenient Pass the fine onto them .

Graeme Smith

The banner was just so random - came out of nowhere and totally jarred with what the UBs have been doing in European games. 2 years is a long time so hopefully a few lessons learned.

Jude

The grown up view on bannergate🫡

Graham Robertson

It will be the songs , old orange flute , billy boys and ftp +ira that will get us a ban . Has to stop !! In the ground

Moody Marco

Davie I think “optimist” is the understatement of the year, bordering on being blind to how many absolutely self entitled arseholes are in our support

Heart and Hand

I just don’t have the interest in long, pointless online arguments where nobody is going to change their mind anyway. This is the situation as it pertains to Rangers, these are the outcomes, these are the choices we have. Everything else around it is a valid discussion but doesn’t change that reality.

Heart and Hand

Possibly. I wouldn’t like to think that people would knowingly prepare another banner and fly it knowing the consequences. Moan about stuff, sure, maybe even wave it outside but doing it in the stadium now knowing the outcome…that would be insane.

SC81

I'd be stunned if the stand closure doesn't happen at some point in the next 2 years. It will be a badge of honour to some.

Stuart Sheils

We’ve been warned numerous times with multiple incidents with fare (rightly or wrongly) yet we still have an embarrassing amount of fans singing TBB l/similar at every and all opportunities. It will be closed at some point in the next few years and if you thought the UBs were unpopular with the Copland now…

David Smart

I think the board have to take responsibility for moving a said section of the support into the rangers end. There was scope to improve the disabled facilities without moving the UB into the Copland. Not absolving the UB of any blame and nor should they be but the board kowtowed to them by moving them to the Copland.

Colin McPherson

It is concerning how many people we have in the support that actively agree with the banner. It is only going to get worse before it gets better unfortunately.

Andy Barnett

The club have been absolutely right to come down hard on those culprits responsible for the banner and more importantly the hurling of projectiles. It doesn’t matter whether some agree with the messaging, it’s simply not allowed - UEFA’s game, UEFA’s rules. What I will say David, is that UEFA’s continued double or even multiple standards are evident. It appears anti-Semitic tifos don’t get the same treatment. Or is it that Jews are fair game.

Graham Roy

Totally agree and simply pointing out the double standards when we are punished won’t work. If we want to play in Europe then simply we need to play by their rules!

Graham Roy

Just need to play smart it’s not hard! The UB have some brilliant songs that don’t contain the words we know get us into trouble!

Doogz

When the club say challenge this type of behaviour, are they serious? Domestic games pass by with hardly any bother, the European games attract the Euro ned, roll up and want to sing and do whatever they like, usually mob handed been in the boozer for hours beforehand and coked out their brains, there is no reasoning with them. Why don’t the club employ professional security team around these games and let it be known any anti social behaviour you will be rooted out and no second chances

Jim McCutcheon

Spot on David thems the rules like them or not we have deal with it imo 🤷, thanks 👍

Colin Gardner

Is it just simple to change the words or am I deluded. You could put anything in there to replace f...... I await you're deluded!😂😂

KMS

8000 x £49 roughly £392,000 plus fines and further sanctions/implications, it's just not worth a banner, a banned song, pyro, blocking staircases, etc etc, people really need to wind their necks in and decide if they want to support Rangers, or support their own agenda, if it's the latter then Ibrox isn't for you, however there are 7,500 other bears in that stand that wants to follow the team but are having that choice removed from them by absolute dicks. I have no faith that we will see this suspended period through without it being screwed up somehow and that ban is then enforced. Euro nights attract some absolute bams, and this QR code shite is so open to exploitation that you can see the fall out from that with stands being overpopulated, sort that out Rangers, and don't open the doors at the turnstiles to allow queues to disperse, that in itself is causing issues, the Copland has become an absolute nightmare since the cantilever was introduced, access, views and the trouble in that CF3 section. We're going down fast and unfortunately some within our support could care less as long as they get to sing about being up to their knees and so on. Please Just screw the nut FFS!

Heart and Hand

Doogz - there are few things that go up my bunhole sideways like ‘self-police’ instructions from institutions to football fans. People go to watch a football game, not risk assault from someone potentially out their box. If you have kids with you are they seriously expecting people to confront gangs? It’s bullshit. We’re customers who have paid for tickets. Provide adequate security.

James Milliken

Can you imagine the animosity between the UB and the rest of the Copeland if the stand is closed due to their actions. As someone who sits in the Copeland, I would be looking to have them disbanded should this happen, and that should be a very real threat to them.

Andrew Hind

Looks like those responsible just don't seem to care about others missing out as long as they put up a stupid banner

Hendi

Must be the first time in my life I've ever heard the words "Barry Ferguson" and "Humble" in the same sentence.

Greig White

I believe rightly or wrongly the hierarchy scored an own goal by attaching the club to the LGBTQ movement. This movement is very politically loaded, especially in the Scottish Parliament and was always going cause division with some of the support. It would be great if the club stuck to football and did not indulge in the latest Inclusion and Diversity fads. I can’t remember asking a fan about their sexuality at a game, if you are at the football supporting rangers that’s all the inclusion you need.

Leslie Hibbert

Couldn't agree more about the banner/politics. They (celtc) want us in the mud with them, we should be above it and above falling for it

Fergie

I really hope you are right David but I don't share your optimism. I'm not even looking forward to the Dundee game. A Saturday evening kick off with a section of the support wanting to vent their "defiance." Not a good mix.

David Bill

It’s not before time that fan bans are being handed out…what have the club been waiting for… something like this to come down. I’m nervous, what happens if we have some infiltration from another club who let of some pyrotechnics I wouldn’t put it past them

David Innes

If they do that the club should just hand out more bans. There’s not a shortage of people wanting away tickets

HammerHead

I agree with the bans but a lifetime ban is a bit much ffs

David Innes

Could well have been at the direction of the new owners - both the bans and the strength of the original statement

Robbie McCarroll

I don’t think it’s long enough, ban their kids…sins of the father and all that. In all honesty I respect the club for making a tough stand they need to be seen as doing all they can or become liable.

Billy Forrester

Not like the rangers support to be split on a serious matter 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️ It has to stop or the repercussions will be severe and bans are what’s needed to set the example that it cannot and won’t be tolerated anymore. On a side note, surely the UB have a leader or el capo, surely he is sensible enough to see their actions have huge consequences for our club, if not he shouldn’t be a leader and have responsibility. Ffs the rest of them are wains and daft teenagers

Gregg

Not quite following what this has to do with the banner situation, I’ve never heard anyone talking about this, arguing about it far less it causing division?

Kevin Blyth

I genuinely can’t see the UBs going out of their way to cause any more harm. They would be in serious danger of being split up by the club if that was the case and would lose all popularity with the remainder of those impacted by their behaviour. My concern is much more that TBB and the add-ons are making a reappearance. I feel that it’s this that will actually get us a stand closure unless it stops. I get that other teams get away with worse, but UEFA seem keen in making an example of us. The two year reprieve needs to be heeded though.

Colin R

Crocodiles aren't allowed as pets in Washington state so maybe Ryan won't be signing here

Robert White

Free speech is free thought. Controlled speech is controlled thought- Rangers fans believing the corrupt FARE and UEFA? Worse.... Rangers fans saying yes surrender. Do as we are told. We are just a club then. No different from Leipzig or Man City.

Greig White

This was the ideology being referred to on the banner, and the division can be referenced by people agreeing with the sentiment of the banner and others agreeing with the club over lifetime bans for the perpetrators. I just feel that all this could have been avoided by the club sticking to football and avoiding I&D initiatives, which in my opinion highlight people’s differences rather than treat them as equals. As I say, all we need to know is whether you are a rangers fan, nothing more, nothing less. But then again, I might just be old fashioned.

Gregg

So the banner was about LBGT policies? Why mention “foreign” and then “defend Europe” - not computing here but I am a wine or two deep.

Stephen

Not sure what you are getting at here. What other clubs take on UEFA and win?

Graham Jones

Let’s hope this se who aren’t banned for life from the union bears remember what’s at stake. We’ve seen warnings go unheeded int he past, or people forget that the Billy Boys is banned from UEFA games, including coming in or going out of the stadium. The politics is a deeper issue and a real concern that young guys are running about with these ideologies in their heads that we fought a world war to eradicate. Barry will be considered come the end of the season, not right now. We did well at Parkhead, but I still think we played poorly against Fenerbahce and got by through the skins of our teeth. Bilbao are a different level from anything we’ve faced this season, I think. We can still win but it’ll require a disciplined performance and if we are wasteful we have no chance. We need to remember what the previous manager did for us before this, because Barry wouldn’t have had the chance the other week without the efforts made in terms of shaping the side in the previous six months, and somehow finishing top eight in the league. Let’s just wait and see where the ground lies at the end of the season. We also need to take into account what the new owners are likely to want. What we know is that if we were to lose at the weekend then a lot of thoughts would flip instantly,, because that’s what we do in a nutshell.

Greig White

If’s a minefield mate, and no matter what is said and done UEFA aren’t standing for it. Just wish we could stick to football. All the best 👍

Brian McLatchie

As for the bans, are they going to the right people or just the person sitting in the wrong seats where it was determined best place to display the banners from

C. J

This is embarrassing and the fact people on here agree with it shocking. Bigots.

C. J

We can weed them out and it’s happening more every day. Bin the bigots. All of them.

Greig White

Think you’ve misunderstood the post, and at no point did I discriminate so I’ll ignore the bigot comment, cheers 👍
