I’m itching for Sunday. I really hope Gio is able to lift and motivate the players for the coming matches. At this point in the season it could all be about who steers the course the best.

Jamie Kirk

As hard as it is, I think we need to show patience and trust in the players and manager. To hope they have learned a huge lesson on Wednesday night. To hope Gio has also witnessed a huge flat on his approach when applying it in the scottish game. It might work in Europe but scottish football is a different element. Injured players coming back. Players have been out of position. Just got to hope it all clicks again like it has previously. Celtic will drop points

Jamie Kirk

Not sure barisic will come back from this. Does he have the character? I hope he does

Jamie Kirk

Probably not 😔 it has been far too often. Bu the way, should be said - great questions during the presser. I thought all the media were good with their questioning. No punches pulled and certainly must give Gio some food for thought and maybe he will begin to re asses some of his methods.

Paul Kerr

Agree with pretty much everything you've said gents, It will be hard for Barisic to win back the support. tbh I'd want to see King play if we have another injury so Bassey stays at LB. No clue if that's wise, I'm still angry. A first pick CB should have come in 1st Jan the Souttar saga was a distraction,

For me,this group of players looked as if they had ran their race early doors this season…too many players getting bored at the same time…I get the feeling a lot of them feel they have achieved the ultimate goal by delivering the title last season and that’s their job done…a lot of the problems were manifesting pre GVB but I really think performances have been worse under him…that performance on Wednesday night never happens if Gerrard is still in charge

Graham Jones

The biggest thing that came from the press conference was when GvB said that this isn’t last season, and we need to play in the here and now. He needs to tell players this directly. That;s where most of those players head are. We were beaten by a poor Celtic side on Wednesday, not because of what they do, but because of what we didn’t do. It’s as simple as that. There are deeper issues, but they will only be fixed when Rangers start to invest in long term quality again.

Spoon

You can add a number of others into that, we are too quick to declare players world beaters or build them up based on the odd goal, touch or game. Walter Smith built teams on reliability and trust in guys who had the drive and attitude required to gut it out but most importany who demanded the best from themselves as well as those around them. I hate to say it but too many guys in that team just don’t have the quality AND drive in equal measure, we have grafters without the quality to match and conversely some flair guys with a lack of self motivation. It’s a perfect storm, while we have players who fluctuate wildly on an individual level the team will do the same. Add in the injury merry go round and it doesn’t make for consistency. We can turn it around but these pressers where a player says they understand it wasn’t good enough or their hurting have to stop as it’s not going to wash. They all need to first and foremost do their own jobs properly and be ruthless in games pushing to the end no excuses. The manager similarly needs to ignore fee’s and favourites and pick guys who are in form and follow instructions, if it is t working don’t spare egos take them off. The good thing is it’s still in our hands and If we get it together we can still finish strong. Here’s hoping.

Great discussion! 👏 Agree that Aribo hasn't influenced Old Firm games as much as he should - to me he has the ability to run these games but hasn't come close! Very frustrating! 🇬🇧

DRKMN

Great pod guys. Agreed with a lot of the discussion around Wednesday's fucking omni-shambles! If that game was played on 2nd Jan, when it was actually meant to be played, I believe we'd be in an entirely different place right now. There's still positives - It's only a point and we've brought quality players in for the run-in. Big Fil, Jacko, Davis, Alfie and Balogun are coming back in and we've got Lowry breaking through. The mhanky mhob will fuck up before we will. In the words of Big Marv - keep believing!

Doug Young

You may criticise Aribo in this game but he has delivered so far this season, which Kent has not. Kent has been absolutely dire this season. Nothing to do with his price tag, just simple impact... Watch Kent last few games. Who has tackled him most? Himself. He has lost the ball so many times with it at his feet, it is unreal.

Rod

We need to get Alfie and Roofe both in the starting 11 imo

Alan Y

When asked at an interview during the transfer window (re Watford interest) ‘I’ll reveal all in February’.

Doug Young

Totally love the Buffalo "Big Balls" image. Hope it comes to pass...

Iain Codona

As Brian Clough rightly said, “Players lose you games, not tactics”. Gio needs to choose the right players.

Brian Moore

The Hearts game is HUGE. A drop of any points could see this team crumble into dust. Not been the anxious for a game. 😖

Graeme Homer

Hopefully with the return of Alfie, the pressing from upfront will return and then in turn the defence will actually not be over swarmed by opposing players. Far to many times on Wednesday night Roofe, Kent, Aribo, Diallo and Kamara threw McGregor, Arfield and the back four under the bus by just standing around and not challenging or tracking.

Gordon

It felt like there was an acceptance that Celtic were going to start fast, and we were always going to have to weather an early storm and hang on. You'd think we were playing Man City, and not Celtic, the way the narrative was going into this game. Celtic can only start fast is we allow them to - certainly feels like a case of wrong tactics and the players accepting they were turning up to face a onslaught early on. Putting this in perspective, there are worrying signs but we do have time to fix this - I think Jack coming back in and Ramsey should make a massive difference.

jamey Carruthers

Did Aribo not set up both goals in the Scottish Cup game against celtic last season?

Allan Osborne

That was painful listening but it all had to be said. I just hope the players, manager and backroom staff are feeling the same pain and embarrasment we are, and the next few games will tell us much about their commitment or lack of. We can still have a great season, but there can be no more faffing about. I'm sick of the turgid, just do enough, displays. Thanks for another great pod guys. Hopefully the next one will be much cheerier!

Darren Stewart

Someone should keep a record of these Edgarisms. Particularly enjoyed "shooting for the end of the street and being stuck in the hoose", having shot for the living room and spent the morning in bed, smothered in a hangover. Onto Sunday.

I said I think it was on here actually at the start of the season our current squad wasn't good enough to compete on all fronts no body noticed because fans were too busy celebrating 55. The summer transfer window was the most important thing going into the season but nothing happened significantly. When I watched the 55 documentary my heart sank in the doc they based the season on MJ's last dance they threw everything at it gave their all probs the reason why it was so impressive but what happens when u have 1 singular goal and achieve it. You dropped off the hunger goes it's hard to get motivated again. Ofcourse this could be complete nonsense and it's just a blip and go on to romp the league but that's how I felt seeing start of the season then after the documentary and how I still feel now.

Ross

Great listen again. But all is not lost. Some monumental mistakes on Wednesday. Anyone who has watched an OF game in the last 3 years knows you can’t play Kamara without Jack or Davis to babysit. You can’t play Aribo in the middle of the park. Kent is ineffective stuck on the line. Bassey can’t play CB… but it’s gone. We start again tomorrow, we are getting players back !!! We were going nowhere under Gerrard. I guarantee he would not have won 7 games in a row between November and December The cream will come to the top !

Gary Shaw

Am I the only one who thinks Roofe is absolutely woeful?….I keep hearing that he’s intelligent and his goal ratio is great but my eyes don’t lie…when you watch him over the course of a game(which isn’t very long),he constantly gives it away cheaply, can’t hold the ball up and doesn’t have a trick or the pace to get away from defenders, his pressing is a stupid lazy jog aswell….

KennyY

Still 14 games to go but today is a defining moment imo to let us fans see if this squad has anything about them. The fans deserve to see some fight and commitment and overall we need to know that this group of players have the hunger to fight for a title. And let’s no kid ourselves we are in a fight.
