I don’t know how you manage to stay so chirpy. In between Teams meetings, us Rangers supporters at work take turns to wail

Dougie

Prepare for penalties on Thursday😲😦😉😂

Andrew Finlayson

Allan Mcgregor is not a good goalkeeper anymore in my opinion. Distribution is poor, never ever comes for a ball and that means he has no command of his box. a better goalkeeper could’ve came for that ball, it was only 6 yards out. He’s cost us 4 points in injury time this season by failing in basic goalkeeping.

Johnnie Mitchell

David, brave call on the goalkeeper issue but I think you are 100% correct. I’m glad you’ve raised the subject because I definitely think it’s now make or break here. Every time we concede a corner now, our hearts are in our mouths. A change to a more commanding goalkeeper may be what the defence is crying out for. Only time will tell.

Dingus

McGregor’s inability to come for high balls has impacted us for the past 2 seasons, especially in last years European games. In addition, he is more and more hesitant about playing as a sweeper/keeper. No room for sentiment, time for McLaughlin to get a run

Andy Gray

McGregor did come for a corner in the Hearts game at Ibrox earlier in the season but that isn’t exactly a strong argument against what you’re saying when you know what happened next

Graham McCallum

Hang your head in shame Edgar 😱 I agree with you!! but you said it first 😊

Ronnie Gallacher

If McGregor comes for a corner he will more often than not win a free kick as goalkeepers are over protected. His position on Sunday at the corner was poor, he was directly behind Ryan Jack (I think) & had no chance should he have make any attempt to go for the ball. We need to be honest, he has been directly responsible for us dropping 6 points (Hearts, Ross County & now Dundee United). It’s time for a change and McLaughlin needs a run in the team.

Leslie Hibbert

Apparently we can change to 5 subs and do away with work permits mid season, then why not some form of VAR mid season?? Hoggy said it in the post match, just a tele at the side of the pitch would do. Will we see it? Will we fuck.

Craig Mitchell

A very fair summation from you both on all the points talked about. Great show. Look after yourself David. Nice and steady and get yourself right. 💙

Tommy

Lundstram and Sakala are arguably 1st team players brought in

John Mclevy

I agree with you both, in my opinion we will win 56 this year although I also agree my opinion doesn’t mater it is what the players do on the park that matters WATP

Jamie Kirk

On the McGregor debate. Totally agree he’s a great shot stopper and he’s been an amazing servant. I love him. However, modern day way of playing requires the keeper to be good at distribution and commanding the area and as you say, he’s not the best at those two things. Probably why he’s never been on the radar of a top 10 EPL team. Rangers are the biggest team he’s played for. He’s played for hull, Cardiff and Besiktas. I think that tells you a lot about how good he really is.

Is FINDING players who are better than our first picks really the difficult bit for recruitment? Surely affording what it would cost to bring them in is the limiting factor Say we sell Alfie for 20 million (which was reputedly our price when he was close to leaving) - how much of that are we going to have to spend to bring in someone who is better than him on day 1? Surely it must be more than the 20 million, or whoever bought Alfie would have bought the other guy and got a better deal We are (trying to be) a player trading club now and that means most of the time we have to buy players for less than we sell them, which in turn means that most of the time the players we buy are not going to be as good when we buy them as the players we are selling I'm not saying I think we'll never sign someone again who goes straight into the first team but I really don't think it's going to be a common thing

Paul Kerr

Colin's on the money. We're still sitting with 3 Centre Backs (that we'll play) and 2 are injury prone. Making do with Bassey after a whole window to fix it is poor. Should have forked out for Souttar or got someone else in. McLaughlin coming in is a fair shout and VAR should be our main priority now when it comes to reform. If money's the problem can it not have a sponsor?. VAR review brought to you by... the jokes write themselves.

stefan strzelecki

Valid points about McGregor. The role of the Rangers goalkeeper is to prevent goals, regardless of his historic contribution. Sentimentality will diminish the progress of us winning the title .

Graham Jones

It wasn’t the Dortmund games that concerned me, because the players see those games as putting themselves in the shop window. It’s the games against Dundee Utd, and Motherwell at the weekend. Some players don’t fancy it, and GvB has to work out who does so he knows who are reliable for those games. It’s horrible to day, but McGregor is slowly becoming a liability in some games, and I don’t see him signing on in the summer, but we dropped points at Tannadice because we weren’t sharp enough in front of goal. The penalties incidents were atrocious, but you’re spot on, we have to be good enough so that it doesn’t matter. Glad people are starting to notice the lack of investment in the team, because it’s becoming a pattern. Whatever happens this season, the board will have no choice but to put up or shut up in the summer. If they don’t invest enough then they need to be questioned. We don’t want to go down the route we’ve been down with other owners, but we don’t want to see us a biscuit tin mentality at Rangers.

Greg

That result on Sunday has killed any buzz I had for thursday. That may change as kick off approaches but the league is all that matters to me.

STOOJIE

Bottom line its a joke to be behind that shower of shite with the side we have.

Billy Brotherston

Never been one for commenting after pods but I think the criticism of McGregor was a bit over the top. Granted, he’s never been one for coming off his line but his distribution isn’t as bad as was made out, at one point Colin said ‘every bye kick goes out for a throw in??’ , it’s not any worse than McLaughlins. I think there’s a bit of the guy on the bench becomes a better player by no playing going on tbh, the Ross County game apart McGregor can’t really be blamed for losing us any goals recently, all that’s happened here is we lost a goal to a corner where the centre half didn’t do his job. We all agree McGregor is a great shot stopper but he’s also a great talker and someone the defence looks up to & perform better for, I think that’s very hard to replace & definitely don’t see John McLaughlin as the man to do it.

John Myles

You may laugh at this comment but I believe our bad luck this season is down to having gold on our strip, gold should never ever be near a rangers strip. Just look at Liverpool who introduced green to there strip in the nineties and never won a championship but removed it the season they won the league oh they have they’ve put it back on this season so congratulations to Man City 😂

Nikky Cairney

Agree on McGregor and McLaughlin. McLaughlin definitely better in 2 if the 3 categories you mentioned. I’d also argue that the gap on shot stopping isn’t what it was a year ago either. Can’t remember many McGregor saves where you think , how did he save that. Would be a big call but it’s time to change.

Martin Boyd

It’s Rangers football club players come and go and it’s McGregors time to go . A decent modern goalkeeper and we are still top of the league if he was playing for any other team in the league we would be laughing at them.

Jordan Grant

Completely agree on the general point being made about McGregor not coming off his line but I don't think there was much he could do at the weekend there. If you watch it back, his route to the ball is blocked by not just one, but two players (Ryan jack and a Dundee Utd player). There's no way he could've came for it. Helander, an experienced pro, was absolutely bullied by a 20 year old yet seems to have escaped much criticism. If we are looking for a keeper for the future, I really liked the look of the Bodo/Glimt keeper against Celtic. Made good saves, was brave coming for crosses and comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Tom Smith

A 4th official with a laptop could see the majority of these poor decisions. It doesn't cost the world.

Tam Hamill

Regarding Utd's goal. Am I the only one who thinks that had we scored that it would be chopped off? I think it was a foul on Helander with the scorer Graham climbing on top of him and leaning into his shoulder.

Tam Hamill

Afternoon David and podders. I messaged 2 seasons ago asking for a small show called "Ref Watch" or something as I felt that we were frequently on the wrong end of some very weird decisions. Already this season IMHO is the worst I can remember. As a fanbase we have a habit of moaning and then forgetting all about it. They weirdos on the other hand could tell you the linesman who ruled out Cadettes goal a quarter of a century ago. Most of us Rangers fans are honest and hold our hands up at decisions for and against. However try and have a discussion with the majority of them and it's the usual "Was it fuck" or "Aye, but what about this!". I would love to see a show (only 10 or 15 mins) that highlights any key decisions that either went for us or against us. Penalties, Red Cards, Offsides, etc, etc. Also include any for them too. Get them archived and lets see how many "Honest mistakes" are getting done over a season and who the Usual Suspects are.

Ian MacLeod

If we'd scored that exact same goal and it had been disallowed, I would have gone mental. The challenge looked fair to me.

GT

Had just calmed down then listened to this and reignited my anger! May sound odd but pleased to hear a cards on the table assessment, I’ve sometimes felt that H&H is overly optimistic in the assessment of games and situations, balanced needed obviously, but this was a bit blunter and worked for a pessimist like me

Heart and Hand

One of the reasons we have so many podders is a wide range of opinions. I am naturally an optimist for example whereas others are much more pessimistic.
