Allan McGregor is utterly done

Greg

This is the worst I've felt all season, just so frustrated with the team.

Graeme Inglis

the more this happens, the more i’m beginning to believe that last year was an anomaly. we’re not out of it yet, but how can we be confident when we pass opportunities like yesterday?

David Innes

Until yesterday I was still very confident we would win the league. Now I think it’s at best a 50/50 shot

Brian Rae

Surely McGregor knows himself that he's well below the standard required? Colin Stewart must also see the sudden decline this season, if he doesn't, he shouldn't be at the club tbh as it's obvious to the majority of the fans.

Graham McCallum

The lack of changes baffled me we could all see that midfield were shattered. Does it show a serious lack of faith in the bench?

Barrie Leith

I'm struggling to remain confident about the league. It's not the point gap that's the issue. Had both Celtic and Rangers won yesterday then I'd still remain confident we'd catch them. However, the nature of that draw yesterday makes the 3 points seem bigger than it was before the weekend.

Russ

I love watching Aribo play but I think right now he's getting too caught up in the physical battles during the 90 mins. We all know he's a specimen but he's got too much technique to keep having a hold of someone's shirt whenever the ball comes to his feet.

David Innes

This worries me too not least because when injuries and suspensions start to bite we will need turn to some of those players who will a) not be match fit and b) know that the manager doesn’t really trust them. I’m thinking of Roofe, Wright, Davis and Diallo

Joe Ward

100% to me goldson leaves the ball for mcgregor for the 1st mwell goal all he had to do was come out not even 2 yards and he would have stopped it, worried at the lack of subs when that team was dead on its feet, roofe helander balogun and Davis don't seem to be anywhere near gios plans and it's baffling, the refs are shocking and I know that we can't rely on decisions to sort us out but in the last 2 games there has been a number of decisions going wrong not just 1 or 2 that would turn 2 points into 6, we are shooting ourselves in the foot but the refs are making sure the wound becomes infected and we lose the leg.

Martin Davies

He's looked way off it since returning from AFCON. He's actually back to the Joe Aribo of 2019 who showed some nice touches but failed to really influence games and had little end product.

Ronnie Gallacher

Im normally pragmatic after a poor result however I was absolutely raging yesterday as could not believe we threw that game away. Agree, McGregor is done, we go with McLaughlin now. Im over my rage, pragmatism is back, we win next 2 games & I believe we will be 1 point behind them if not level on points and 2nd on goal difference. #WATP

Best will in the world to Stevie who I normally fully agree with people weren’t universally impressed by Ramsey or Amad as both were bang or bust signings which were high risk when we needed bodies ready to get in the trenches. Lots made this point but we’re dismissed as downers. I do fully agree with him that it was a game of two half’s and the criminal part was we didn’t respond to the flow of the game and change the shape / personnel. One of the big things we seem to struggle with since coming back is being honest in our appraisals of players. We get guys in who are decent but no more and seem to almost have to say they are immense or it’s not staunch, perhaps it’s even trying to convince ourselves we are back buying the best but for me it’s not true. We are far too sentimental on guys who are bang out of form or worse only produce in half a dozen games a season and live of it the rest. We have guys in the team who just arent taking us forward but we continue to see them as stalwarts. Goldson is atrocious in terms of his positioning every week and yet he basically plays every game, for that first goal the ball goes past him, as he watches it, to a man behind him, the only man in the box and he isn’t cutting the ball out or even close to the man to put in a challenge. He also never accepts blame for anything and I can’t stick players who throw the arms out and blame others. Kamara is regressing and the idea he is any bette than average is mental as he is so limited in his abilities, he cannot seem to drive forward and utterly refuses to shoot when it opens up. We seem to have to pretend he is amazing though or it’s disloyal. Same with Arfield who just isn’t up to it and hasn’t been for a few years, he’s is this teams Halliday, nice guy who works hard but just not at the level needed. Far too many in the team are nice guys, they are nice to each other, nice in interviews and would probably be nice if you met them in real life. We need winners not nice guys. We need guys like Jack and Lundstrum who will leave the foot in, who have a bit of healthy contempt for other teams and who are willing to be nasty when it’s needed. The defence rarely ever puts in a meaty challenge, I’m not talking about straight leg career enders but they don’t impose themselves very often. Compare it with how Alfie or Kent are treated, cemented constantly, nipped, pulled, shoved and brought down. We just accept it. For me it’s not about the tactics, the lack of subs is mind boggling but that aside it’s mostly about our character as a team. We are a nice team who can play some very nice football but we aren’t ruthless winners who go out to humble teams., we need to hate folk much more like how they hate us.

Jamie Gourlay

Within minutes of us getting the 2nd goal, Motherwell started to have more possession. The players thought it was done. The lack of subs though was baffling.

chris smith

On the transfer window(s) disaster … Gio is here to win football matches in the here and now while Wilson is here to run the fabled ‘business model’, not to produce players for the here and now for Gio. This is the disconnect. Sands was brought in by Wilson as a long term development as someone who could play DM and CH … Gio ignores him and plays Lundstram there instead.

Lee Colvin

Looking more and more like a poor transfer window yet again. In the ten remaining games how many games is Ramsey likely to play?

Graham Miller

Teams all know a high ball into our box from whatever method causes utter panic as they know goalie will not come off his line. Love him but he’s costing us points previously he gained us them

chris smith

On VAR … it wont happen. Celtic dont want it for very obvious reasons and the rest of the SPHell dont see the economic worth of it as only Rangers and Celtic can win the league and thus have a dog in the game while the difference between finishing 4th and 7th etc doesnt cover the costs of putting the VAR infrastructure in place. … on referees, they cheat, it is time to say it. This does not necessarily mean that they are all pro-celtic tho Clancy and the very dubious Mr Frank Connor (the linesman) really do make you think … but cheating simply means that - for whatever reason - the refs do not implement the rules equitably … this IS cheating.

Steven Davis was getting a scan today, hopefully nothing serious, I was sitting directly behind him yesterday and asked him what’s wrong and he said scan today but could return Wednesday night was his words . We need him back ASAP as he is still our best midfielder and oozes class. Kamara can go in summer as far as I’m concerned, offers nothing but a sideward or backward pass, take what we can for him and sell him I would say. The squad is weak and filled with players who are ordinary at most, Wright will never do and have my doubts already about Sands, hope I’m wrong. Ramsey and Diallo are a gamble that so far has failed and time is running out for them, Shergar has been seen more times than Ramsey in a rangers shirt, looking like an expensive waste of time, again hope I’m proved wrong. I do feel this team is done and needs a complete overhaul, Goldson and Barisic be gone in summer and Mcgregor is finished too after this season, we need hungry players with a bit of snap and growl.

Scott Watson

Stevie commented very importantly that two things can be true at once - we are getting some shocking refereeing decisions and we are also making mistakes that cost us I'll add a third thing that can be true at the same time - a lot of the best football we have played this season has come in the last seven matches. I am 100% open to the accusation of having my head in the sand, but I believe results will follow

Craig

Great pod and great therapy after yesterday!

Alan Stewart

Thank you. The last 5 minutes of the pod has made me feel a wee bit better about life. Sundays gone, just make sure we take 6 points from the next 2 games.

Rod

One thing I disagree on is claiming the players dont have a loser mentality because they draw games instead. At Rangers not winning = losing.

Heart and Hand

We’re in agreement - what I mean is they have a ‘that’ll do’ mentality. At Ibrox that’s no use.

Allan Osborne

McGregor is a legend but that doesn't mean he gets a blank cheque. He still makes good saves , brilliant saves at times. But there have been too many errors this season and given his age this has to be it. Hearts, Ross County, Motherwell etc, 6 points frittered away. Time is up I'm afraid. Having said that, I agree on the lack of goals outwith Alfredo and Tav. Last season there was a good spread throughout the team, but not this, and it seems like every goal against is costing us points. We get loads of corners but do nothing with them (meanwhile every one we concede I'm shitting myself we're going to let one in). And when was the last time we scored a late winner? When they equalised I knew we weren't winning that game, and that really gets to me. We've been saying all season we're the best team in the country but time is rapidly running out to prove it, and yesterday has sapped my confidence more than any other, piggery game excepted perhaps. Worrying times indeed.

William

They own the SFA The SFA are responsible for referees They own the SPFL Its a £40m season Do the math.........

Ally Mair

We came out like a team possesed yesterday , got our rewards with 2 quick goals then decided to put the slippers on thinking the game was done and it was only when we were in the shit at 2-2 did we look like wanting it again. Why can't we kill teams off ? All we had to do yesterday was get 1 more goal and the way we were playing in first 20 mins that should have been a formality , do that and games over and more than likely we get a few more . But we go 2 up and think its done . Last year we could do that as defensively we were solid but this year between mcgregor and some dozy defending we can't relax at 2 up . On a side issue can all scottish officials please get to fuck im sick to death of them now it doesn't matter who we have officiating their all shite and im beginning to know suspect cheats aswell

Sandy

You need a goal scorer, we have an absolute goal machine called Tony Weston desperately awaiting his chance in the B team

Graham Jones

Thanks for voicing everything that was running through my mind. There was nothing for me to add in this comment, so let’s hope we see a real change against St Johnstone. Clancy really is genuinely the only official I’ve ever watched and thought he was……… I better not say, in case he and his lawn practicing pals are reading this.

John Hammond

He's back to bringing the ball into feet and taking way too many touches, slowing attacks down.

Scott Duncan

Is anyone at the club actually doing anything to challenge the "honest mistakes" of officials? Or are we just moaning and ranting on social media to no real effect?

Gary Shaw

When Aribo and Kamara play together they remind me of 2 daft pals playing 5s with boys that aren’t as good as them….taking turns to dilly dally on the ball, take unnecessary touches and try stupid flicks…both of them done it in the lead up to Ross County’s equaliser aswell…Need a leader in there to give them a rocket…A Barry Ferguson would never have put up with both of them

Martin Boyd

I bloody hate folk saying “ Aye but what he’s done in the past”, I couldn’t give a flying one what McGregor has done in the past. Minimum 6 points from his mistakes we have lost. For all our problems elsewhere the biggest problem is we have the worst goalkeeper in the league at the moment.

Tommy

Some good points lads and valid questions raised. The problem I have with Ross Wilson criticism is that we were lauding him for the signings 3 weeks ago. At the time we were all delighted. Now we know that not every signing works, but 3 weeks ago we more than believed he delivered on his so we need to keep our feet on the ground and be a bit more reflective rather than throwing the axe around.

Tommy

I’ve listened on and you’ve addressed this point lads… it’s not down to us to get it right etc. fair points Maybe I hear the podcast out before commenting 😁
