I definitely remember thinking he was the most underwhelming signing of that summer but maybe apart from Numan had the biggest impact

If my memery serves me well Wallace signed on the same day as Kanchelskis and I thought it was a great free signing, a top drawer goalscorer. Never was a fan of Kanchelskis before he came to us and he did nothing that made me change that opinion, £5.5m and a big wage fown the drain. The strange thing with Wallace was he just seemed to disappear, here one day, gone the next.

Absolutely loved Wee Wallace for us 👌

Graeme Macdonald

Always great to hear about that Huddle outside the Jeanie. What a night that was.

Grant Sneddon

First goalscorer of my time following Rangers. What's your thoughts John on if history has almost overlooked him?

Grant Sneddon

I think his move to Leeds was the only time he ever moved for a transfer fee. 2000/2001 was a hard season for him and we only seen him back in the team towards the end of the season

Mark

I'm pretty sure the Ibrox centenary was a year later against Hearts.

Cracking show lads ... great little player .. great goals return and some vital goals.. especially against that mob

I was exactly like Hoggy, completely underwhelmed by the signing of Rod Wallace. I knew he was a decent enough player, but at the time we were splashing serious money and building a team to challenge for European silverware, and I didn't think he was the level required. In my defence, we had been expecting a superstar striker for a couple of years by this stage to finally replace McCoist and Hateley, but guys like Salenko, Rozental, Bo Anderson and Negri hadn't worked out, we had other failed bids for Vialli, Raducioiu, etc and there were rumours of interest in Fowler, Batistuta, etc - I suppose I finally expected to land the big one when Advoccat took over. I was so wrong about Wallace. A fantastic wee player who gave his all, scored vital goals and was a key link between midfield and attack for Advocaat's team. The partnership he formed with Johansson was excellent.

Pretty sure as well Martin that there was the first of 4 attempts at signing Mario Jardell about 96
