Rona Bluebell

Putting a positive spin on this (being generous) we’re getting a season of entertainment. 😜

KAD87

Some fans were horrific today. Bigoted drivel and disruptive at important points of the match. Important word being SOME.

Brian Moore

Agreed. But I could be prevented. All Stewart Robertson needs to do is come out and address the situation. 👍🏼

Ian Cartledge

Out of jail….7 more wins required

KAD87

Fair comment. The club have created a divide for sure. But you’d have to be daft to think that any of what we saw today does not hinder the team and/or club. I’m not just talking about the wasted minutes, but people have an absolute cheek to talk about their distain for racism in the game and then sit back and think that todays performance from some fans was anything other than abhorrent. Absolute bile.

KennyY

Even the most arduous of fans knows that we aren’t winning anything this season if we continue to play like that. Big relief to win but that was absolute garbage.

KAD87

I’m unsure. If we can get points from that game, we can do it. It’s the first time we’ve needed a goal and got it!

Gary Shaw

Thank f&@k for that,David….I thought you were going to have to roll out Martyn and Andy today to be my therapists 😂

Al-WATP

Totally agree Kyle - and I’ve messaged before on this as it’s happening in every game, the away fans should be a credit to our team with their non stop support but instead the songbook is an absolute embarrassment. If they think this is a demonstration against the board then it’s not working, all it will do is harm us. And it’s not a good look on sky tv.

KAD87

Completely agree with you. Fed up with the songbook proving other people right. I’ve emailed the club on it. I spend my weekdays figuring out ways I can spend money on the club, but one way I won’t be spending it is going to away games where that is the patter literally screaming through the TV. Fed up with the good name of Rangers being dragged through the mud by absolute morons trying to prove a point. Over to the club.::

Doug Young

Hoping I'm much mistaken but at the moment, I just don't see us winning anything this season. Seen too much lack of application this year. David's point is spot on. Side to side and driverless.

aldo adens

Roofe for me wouldn't be out the team from now on even when he has a poor performance he can still offer you the movement that makes the defence question what they are going to do. Regarding the game against that lot in australia its all fine and well fans showing frustration with SR and JB regarding it being done but why has the man that heads up the whole club not came out to speak regarding it. And iv seen people say JB doesn't get it as he isn't a Rangers fan or Rangers man yet the chairman is a Rangers man and fan that for me tells me the Rangers men on the board are happy that the irk of the support is going to SR/JB and not them. So that tells me for the foreseeable future regarding the game its still gawna go ahead. I don't want it to go ahead but I can see it happening.

Andrew Hind

Need to get league form sorted hopefully the games coming up will do that, as for some of our fans another disgusting song book and throwing stuff on pitch was just stupid

Scott Watson

Maybe I am engaging in self-delusion to make myself feel better, and if so, I'm fine with that, because why wouldn't I want to feel better 😃 but I agree with this - today had some similarities with most of our drawn games this season but today was the one where we had to chase a goal and DID get it and DIDN'T throw it away again at the end Today we found the answers when we needed to - and today there was more pressure than any of the previous days because our position is the worst it has been on any of those days. There's obviously things to address and improve but I think this does show the players are up for the fight

Scott Watson

I thought Alfie had a big handful of the Dundee player's shirt before he reciprocated but maybe I need to watch it again Excellent point about the yellow card - that completely passed me by in the excitement Is there any recourse for the club to point that out? There is literally no way in the rules for that course of action to be taken - it's not a decision being made wrongly, it's just the referee doesn't know the laws of the game or has decided not to enforce them Either way, surely that can't be just brushed off? Oh who am I kidding...

aldo adens

Brian Moore why not the chairman come out and address the situation as if I am right would the chairman of the board not have to sign off on the trip after SR/JB brings it to the board. As I said in the point I made below in the thread I believe the board are happy the irk of the fans are going on SR/JB. That's poor management from the board in my opinion. I respect all bears opinions on the whole australian trip thats just mine.

Martin Davies

Re their goal. How are 2 of our front 3 players on both ends of the Dundee cross? Ramsey trying to stop the cross, and Kent trying to defend it. Where are the back 4 and 2 defensive midfielders? We were caught napping at the throw in. Schoolboy stuff. Really poor start.

David Alexander

That was a shambles today but have to respect the grit and determination to get the result. The pitch was outrageous. Looked like they were playing with a ten-bob-swervie at the beach.

Spoon

Gents all great points, the issue is the element your dealing with don’t care, they want their own way and don’t care how it impacts anyone else. Let’s make no bones about it we pretty much ALL want the friendly binned and support banners, singing about the friendly and where the board can stick it but In my mind the line is drawn when it has the potential to disrupt or hurt the team on the park. We laugh at the grey and green hordes about how petulant and entitled they are, often suggesting their board should call out the problem element and rightly so, now we have an element who are jumping on the bandwagon and suggesting it’s ok to embarrass ourselves and hurt the club just to get back at the board ? Not for me, no Rangers fan should be conducting themselves in a way that ruins it for another, no need for universal agreement about tactics, players, signings etc but FFS let’s not derail a skittish team trying to find its way to a tittle by drawing the inevitable criticism and flak from returning to the well known banned songbook and stopping matches. It’s not on and if the prominent away support want to get the credit they normally deserve representing the club it comes with responsibility. There is no doubt that if we get back in front it will be government summits and points docked or some other madness if we keep this up.

Douglas Hannah

That was a big win after the way we started, 100% about 2 DM against this dross, first hour game played sidewards backwards everything in front of them. Only started to play when Gio changed it, glad for once about International break. I wish the board had nipped the friendly nonsense in the bud when it became clear to them the way the supporters feel about it. But the nonsense at start of 2nd half when we are 1 down could have been a spectacular own goal if we never got all 3 points, you see the players reaction to it Morelos and Kent in particular, and Shagger shouting fucking arseholes spoke volumes.

G Calder

So if they dont get the reaction they want with bigoted songs about the pope & Fenians... They could move onto another group ? My heart sinks when I hear this stuff .. we didn't stop these songs because the board asked us . We stopped as it was damaging our club & offensive to our own RC players. The kick off protest was fine before kick off ..but the 2nd half was mental.

KAD87

What are the actual actions the club can take? I mean, I don’t want to generalise, but it’s hard not to assume that these songs are coming from the UB contingent today? What can we see the club do? Stop tickets to certain fan groups? Refuse away game tickets? Take season tickets off people who are caught? Anything we can do to stop it happening, I am open to.

Bill McCairns

Good assessment. On the line up I would have started also with Roofe and Sakala to rest Alfie and Joe Aribo. Totally agree with you on the protest. Especially the one at the start of the second half when we needed to be on it. At the end of the day, three points and move on. Use the International break to rest and work on things, defending from corners should be top of the list!

aldo adens

Kyle the away games I have went to this season even when not near the UB like up at perth didn't take them in my end to start no pope of rome/billy boys our problem is fact so many males use away games as way to let there hair down and get "out there nut" and abuse drink and drugs and don't give a toss if they damage our club. Unlike ibrox that you generally sit next to same group game in game out and if some 1 starts they get told to shut up etc. But like you some of the chants since its been announced we r playing them in oz has embarrassed the club but the board has embarrassed the club with agreeing to this game

Derek Keir

I’d stop taking away tickets if this is what is going to happen. Songs we don’t need or want, reputation damage to the club. And the stoppages, as our goalkeeper was saying during the game, don’t help the flow of our football.

Derek Keir

We should never be in that position after the first 45, the bottom club in the league man… We should be sticking 4 or 5 past teams like that.

aldo adens

90% of the songs have been getting sung at all away games all season and seasons gone past. Just since game against them in oz has been announced the songs that fans kno will get highlighted have came to fruition so that way when it gets reported in the press it puts pressure on the board 2 stop the game against them in oz. The board for me has done more reputational damage to the club with announcing this game after what got reported is happening to them in the courts. Yes the stoppages didn't help but even before them in the 1st half there was no flow to our game apart from side to side and utter dross in my opinion the 1 in the 2nd half I was more rageing with as it came at start of the half after getting instructions what to do and how to try and get the break through in the 2nd half. But there will not be and bear who agrees 100% with each other on what to do etc.

Colin Carstairs

Good assessment of todays game guys, do we think like say in cricket ..bringing in a demerit system re the pitch or something adapted to football. Not blaming the pitch at all just wonder if football could implement it & then it hopefully leads to better pitches all round in the top league & improve the game hopefully.

PR__92

The board can't bow down to bigotry the songs shouldn't be sung period no ands if or buts no one should be discriminated against based on their beliefs likewise skin colour. I would be interested in hearing Cammy experiences on the courses he attended following the Daily Record business or I'm sure that's what happened I know something like that was spoken about on the pods following the aftermath

Kris

The song book is insulting OUR OWN players, today winner was scored by a Catholic, Thursdays equaliser was scored by a Catholic.. I’ve had to watch the last three away games with the sound down.. and it’s not because of Andy Walker… the old song book rearing its ugly head has diluted the recent bond between the team and the fans.

aldo adens

This may go against the grain but what songs that have been getting sung for years at Ibrox and at away grounds has caused the issue I am asking as I have seen and commented on a few regarding this issue. The songs recently that have caused issue for me is no pope of rome and the billy boys reson is in NPOR that condems the full catholic faith and i worry this if sung in europe we would get hammerd and reason for BB the club asked fans not to and since then most have stuck to not singing it. And before I get it insults our players etc I get that but our club and support has came on leaps and bounds can any1 say they would have even thought they would have seen our own players bless them selves coming on to the pitch ( which I don't care about ) say in the 80s or ever think that a small section of our support would be the only ones still singing the billy boys etc

PR__92

That's fair enough but just to be clear I meant it from an Educational perspective not an entertainment one.

Heart and Hand

Cammy went through a very painful, very personal experience. If in future he decides to talk about it that’s fine but I don’t feel comfortable pushing him on what was an incredibly painful experience.

PR__92

That's completely understandable I just didn't want you to think I was expecting him to speak on the subject but just because he had some experience on it he could share (if he wanted to ofcourse)

Al-WATP

Kris I’m with you 100% I’ve turned the volume down for the last few away games. I don’t want to hear that shit. We are so much better than that. What I don’t get is that the fans have created some amazing songs over there last few years yet they’re still choosing to go down that road

G Calder

I don't think I could stand in with a group of Rangers fans as they sing No pope of Rome to our RC players .... Im glad I've missed the games this has happened.. it's fucking depressing.

aldo adens

G Calder I'm sorry I wasn't leaving I was there to support the team and I never sung the song I didn't agree with it getting sung but I wasn't walking out on supporting the team. Its there way to try and highlight there displeasure at the whole board and the decision they took in arranging the game against them. Do I agree with the way they have chosen to go about it no. But looking at it from the fans point ov view who have chosen to go down this route I have a belief why they have chosen this method. This is just my belief why they have chosen it that lot used the whole oz trip as a cover up to what was reported on there rotten club that day , they have took many many shots to appease there fans with refusing to reference the term old firm , the whole we aint half of anything they had pined on there twitter bio last year, taken every opportunity to kick us when they had the chance. All this that the current board and ex board members have sat buy and done nothing then when they had the chance to make millions with that lot its as tho it's aw never mind ****** fc we will go in partnership with you for that. So the 1 way the fans had a chance for a big FU back at the whole board was to bring back certain songs and display banners about certain type ov rings etc. Do I agree with the methods that some fans have used to show there displeasure no I dont but again as I said in a previous post on the thread why has the chairman not came out and spoke about this oz trip as chairman ov the company that runs our club I'm 99.9% sure he had to agree with it . That's my opinion I respect everyone's opinion.

Graham Espie

Our away support for the last three games have been nothing short of a disgrace.

Cameron Bell

In the aftermath of my experience was probably an awakening to me of what resources etc are out there and available for people, as a learning experience but mostly because I wanted to step up and own it. Sadly my own thoughts on some of the songs are that people don’t acknowledge the damage they can do and that the current dispute with the board doesn’t pertain to free licence to sing and do what you want - and I’m fairly sure would be a thin defence if someone had to explain it in court tomorrow. Fundamentally I had to accept and own my mistakes - that’s step one. I don’t think some people are even close to that yet, that’s on them, all I can say is that I learnt a great deal and whilst it was probably the most painful thing in my life save losing my mother, I want to be better every day as a result.

Kris

The whole thing is taking the shine off, what could be a great season!

George Higgins

I watched Sportscene highlights of the game. The reason that no red card was given according to the experts there was that it was not a goal scoring opportunity .

Jock Paterson

You are correct, the board cannot bow down to bigotry, but they can defer to sensibility. Their free pass is getting a bit threadbare now, questionable decisions mounting.

Robbie McCarroll

Have to admit manager has to take blame for the poor first half the wrong team started that game but changed it second half so deserved some credit. I don’t understand why we don’t start our more attacking players and then bring on the defensive players if needed it’s like the Rocky 2 not using south paw till last round approach to football…

@bluebeans

The point in ‘time back’ protest just gives the ref freedom to apply whatever they like. Don’t get me wrong they do that most of the time anyway but let’s not make it any harder. Let me put it this way - that’s never seven-eight if we are level at 90. Not a chance.
