Utter shite hawks summed up with the vomit enducing pic of Salary McCoin hugging fat Flanj. Our players and management and Board don't hate them enough

Jamie Derrick

I’ve said it umpteen times the biggest problem in our team in Goldson, the second he refused to sign a new contract he should have been sold and I’ve said it since he was named captain, Tav is never a captain. Never has been and never will be !! As for Stevie talking about McGregor, if McGregor has cost us 7 goals directly how many has he saved us ??? More than fucking 7 !!

greg dunlop

If it is true that these players enjoy playing in Europe more than in the league, they’d best enjoy these next few games, cause most of them won’t play another game in Europe once they leave rangers

Stuart MacKenzie

Sad to say but compare and contrast the careless dropping of points with Celtic’s late winners against Ross county and Dundee United - in both cases whilst down to ten men. Attitude.

Martin Davies

Agree with Stevie on McGregor. Pulling off a great save when you're at fault for 2 goals previously is like a striker who can only score the 5th in a 5-0 win. McLaughlin won't be no1 next season or he'd have been in the side before now. He's been retained as backup, which doesn't bode well for McCrorie

Tamus

McGregor's form is indefensible - should have been dropped months ago. He cost us both goals on Sunday. Big wow-wee he made a Hollywood save at the end, it would have been 3-1 instead of 2-1. GVB didn't want to hurt his feelings and drop him, he put McGregor before the team, thta has cost us £40M - youre right via the uninspiring Tavernier and Goldson

Ross Chalmers

I think individual errors have been the major downfall for us this season. McGregor especially in domestic football has cost us dearly. I have to say though, I think our build up from the back is incredibly difficult to watch. We have no real idea on how to break the lines and teams can press us very effectively. We rely so much on Morelos being able to pull us up the pitch. Yesterday was a prime example of the problem. We continued to try and play long to Kemar Roofe and that is not his game. GVB clearly does not want his midfield to take the ball from the centre backs (this is why Davis is not getting a look in) and wants the two centre backs to start the move but we don’t have centre backs who are capable of that. The tactical approach has to change in domestic football. We have to improve MASSIVELY at playing from the back under pressure.

Graham Leatherbarrow

Lack of passion, desire and pace are key failings of our team, deserved nothing and without huge change I fear we won’t deliver at Hampden, hope some shine in Braga so we can sell them.

Pondo Sinatra

Get Lowry into that team NOW! 🇬🇧

Tamus

The more you watch that video of Aribo at the second goal, the worse it gets. Lazy Lazy bastard. Hard work beats Talent when Talent doesn't work hard

G87

David channeling his inner chumbawamba at the end 🤣

Iain watson

Watch the warm up for mcgregor,he practices coming for crosses yet no intention of doing it during a game???

Douglas Morrison

Ffs guys everybody gave Gerrard 3 seasons and half the support want GVB out now.

Ralph Wiggum

I'm so fed up of having the same conversations and discussions about most of these players. The amount of key domestic games they have lost is an embarrassment.

Douglas Morrison

Never finished GVB has to be given the summer transfer window and we need to lose the three who over the last few seasons have been culpable in losing crazy goals.

Very Good Joinery

Agree with the mentality issue when the chips are down. Our captain literally admitted this infamously b4 the hamilton game in the program

Trev @JimmyBell_Loyal

I really think the picking and choosing of performances is subconscious btw guys. Don’t think they turn up and think, nah, can’t be arsed.

Samuel Campbell

I've a bad feeling we will lose the league by about 12 points now. Other big worry is I know the club don't budget for European money but missing out on the champions League money is going to leave us in a really difficult position. We can't keep relying on investors putting money in and we will struggle to get decent money for the likes of Aribo and Kent now so how do we fund a rebuild

Jason Allan

I was at the legends game and seen the vast numbers of “adults” drunk and chewing their faces off with kids. Some of our fans really need to realise it’s a football game not a Saturday night sesh. It’s scotland wide not just us but the bottle incident is unacceptable.

Rona Bluebell

I know it isn’t fair, but Gerrard had swagger. Gio looks like a rabbit in the headlights. Europe success may save him but another defeat to Celtic in the semi-final could be the end. Gerrard beat Celtic but Gio hasn’t. Unacceptable. Themz the rules with us.

Lee

Watching other teams, it's striking what a difference having a goalie who actually allows himself off his line makes. Milan goalie coming out & punching balls away etc.

David Innes

I think McGregor has earned the right to keep his place for the Braga games but McLaughlin has to take over domestically and simply must start at Hampden.

Scott Watson

I'm definitely in agreement but I think the phrase "pick and choose" was used a few times and probably was not exactly what the guys meant David did mention that he doesn't think it's a case of just not trying Whoever can work out exactly what it is and what to do about it will end up a very wealthy individual...

Gary Shaw

I agree that Goldson shouldn’t have been allowed to run his contract down but I don’t think he’s remotely close to being the problem this season…If he had phoned it in he wouldn’t be playing on a Friday night against Stirling Albion or trying his best to get winners when all looks lost….to my eye,he looks like only one of a few who genuinely looks like he cares when we lose

James Coburn

With a large % of the Support already out on GVB, how can you go into next season with him, a dodgy start and he is out by Halloween. Ross Wilson is likely to be moved on, new DOF will want his own guy.

David Herd

Every year when things are tight, our team has folded. Add to that our pathetic record in Hampden cup ties and you have to conclude it's a mentality problem. This team has reached the end, the rebuild this summer will define the next couple of seasons. I can hardly believe how badly we have blown it when I think back to the start of the season.

David Hanlon

I know we didn't do enough to win or even draw the game but no one seems to be bringing up the 3 penalty kicks we should have had. Cross from the left, Goldson shirt pulled off his back and two celtic players playing keep up with the ball using their arms.

Adam Weir

Same old mental fragility issues. They looked panicked for the entire second half.

William Hughes

Some in the team just lack fuckin heart.

GazMac

Canny believe we are talking about McGregor again.......I thought he shut you all up after his MOM performance v Red Star?

Stevie

That’s the issue when you throw goals in, the conversation will come up again and again

CRAIG CASSELLS

Allan McGregor is being talked about again because he again was at fault at Celtic's first goal and his reluctance to come of his line didn't help matters at Celtic's second. He has shipped more goal this season that I can ever recall him doing previously, probably costing us 10pts this season. His repeated errors are very basic, a clear sign that his best days are behind him. That doesn't mean he won't ever pull of a Worldy every now and then, but you just don't know when the next slip up is just around the next corner. I hope he retires this season and goes with the acknowlegement that he as the legend, a true Rangers great.

Allan Fowler

Gio needs to win the Scottish Cup to survive. As simple as that. Needs to show he can beat them and win a final. Anything less is failure. Euro semis place would be a bonus.

Jim Milne

When Gerrard left and RW gave an interview about how EVERY position is constantly analyzed for replacements it gave me the impression he is gone by the end of this season.

Jim Milne

A coaches job is to improve players imo. Preseason or not, he got 3ish weeks of a winter break and I have seen nothing that made me feel he has put his stamp on this team. Gerrard at the start of the season made me feel he had his mind elsewhere and if I'm honest I've felt GVB doesn't know what to do to fix, train or create a belief. Maybe I'm just still raging, but I don't want to give Gio the summer, I'd rather he just left. Seems like he'd rather just give up on half our team, rather than work to improve them.

Stuart Smillie

These jokers use Morelos being injured as an excuse. It happens time and time again. Without him they are mentally beat before a ball is kicked!

G Calder

I'm not sure many managers would have got much of a better tune out of this set of players ?- many are already else where a'la Laudrups last season .. we have invested too much into GVB - he surely deserves a crack at next season , his euro performance has surely bought him that ? I'm really hoping league & Euro form remain very different- Bit of a huge long shot - but this could still be one of the best , if not THE best season ever if we go one better than we did in Manchester. We really have a good chance to pass Braga & into the semi - from there anything is possible . . I live in hope Europe is the saviour of our season .. It's a very slim chance , but we have that chance - we are only one of 8 clubs in the whole of Europe who can win that trophy ..

Rona Bluebell

Yup. That’s my conclusion now. Sunday was about saving the league. Semi is about saving his job.

Rod

I'm far more patient that most others and happy to give Gio next season with his own players. This lot have been under par from pre season and I put the blame with the players. We need to give the manager time to build his own team.

Douglas Innes

I laugh everytime when sitting in my seat in Copland Rear ..... whats the fucking point

Douglas Innes

Rangers invested heavily in GVB and his team so he should get at least another 18-20 months till the end of December 2023 then it'll be time to judge , I commented long enough as Covid struck that Gerrard deserved more time as year on year squad improved and results improved in Europe etc ..... like every manager GVB needs time Big call to make in regards our goalkeepers , giving McLauchlin until end of season would surely give us an indication if we need a No1 or an back up , personally I'd promote McCrorie if McLauchlin had the managers confidence going forward .....we'll learn nothing by sticking with McGregor

Steven Murray

If you think another keeper won't lose more goals over a season than McGregor your delusional and they'll do well to pull off the "worldies".

Spoon

Great pod gents. Find myself agreeing with almost everything Cammy said and the biggest thing for me with this team is we almost universally bought into them being better than they were. I think we needed to believe they were the real deal for our own sanity after all that’s gone on, and I was on the bandwagon at times too until you look at the reality of our faults. I’m convinced we were successful more than anything due to the drive of Gerrard and the craft of Beale, coupled with a lesser them, we managed to get the prize. Great achievement but it probably papered over cracks that have come back to haunt us this season. We have a squad that's dysfunctional and held together by a few pins, McGregor (last season renaissance), Tav (goals and energy), Goldson (solid and constantly available), and Alfie (power and goals) but the reality is the rest are overall inconsistent or certainly more average than outstanding. We have a rake of perma injured / unfit / not match fit players, we have guys who are talented but don’t seem to be coachable and we have players who are in on what they bring in flashes more than that 7/10 every week you really need. We as a support are far too sentimental, we always want an older player brought back and we seem to think its un-staunch to criticise our own, we aren't cold and ruthless enough with what players are really bringing to the table. Lots of our players are good, lots have real talent but some of the guys who get chance after chance without being dropped when bang out of form is criminal. A great example is Kent, we all love him, we know on his game he is explosive and class but is he really a player we can afford in terms of both output and wages for what he brings? I think you can generally tell within 20 minutes if it’s his day or not and if fans can see it surely the manager can. We need more from the marquee players and they need to influence games in more than just moments or flashes every other game, it would be great to have the space and time Dortmund give us every week but we don’t get it in the league. Its also interesting that out of all the games that should be more open and give us space we struggle against them, we can slag them and rightly so but they have far more menace and threat going forward due to their directness than we do and as it stands their defence is no worse than ours so its not rocket science we aren’t doing as well as them. I appreciate it was maybe beyond us in terms of finance but a player like Veerman was what we missed this season, a threat going forward, someone who will shoot against a camped in team and someone who wants the ball to go forward. We got Lundstrum and while I have been impressed with how he has started to play for us he still isn’t dynamic enough its just not his game. All our midfielders now are far far too bland, technical and safe, it shows how desperate we are to hang onto something that Ryan Jack is our hope for box to box. I love the guy and he has come on leaps and bounds bar injury but he has never ever been a goal scoring midfielder. Guys like Aribo and Arfield are one in ten / one in twenty players when it comes to affecting the game, when it happens for them it looks great but it doesn’t happen in terms of goals or assists when in good position anywhere near often enough. IF we were playing, he moneyball style game their numbers would see them dropped and sold its that simple. For me the answer is to get back to basics and get a team structure that has players who can give you the sold 7/10 base. Get in players who play a position effectively consistently even if at a maximum level one or two marks below where our current players top output is. We would be better with 7/10 every week than 9/10 one week in six from a guy. We also must see some signs that players can be coached, Sakala as Cammy says just doesn’t seem to understand how to play in a team, likeable, lots of industry but wasteful and there are no signs he is learning. As a last point on my rant, something that I wondered around the time Goldson spoke about there being players who weren’t up for it or who weren’t doing well enough was is he reluctant to sign on as he sees the issues ? Bear with me, Golsdon despite the issues around his contract still seems engaged and to care, he seems to want to do better and I wonder if the reluctance to sign is that he sees the gradual deterioration of the team and quality and he wanted more from his colleagues before he commits ? He could well be just thinking about the money or hoping for a big offer but from what we have seen of him is it possible that he was disappointed in what he was seeing in terms of drive, transfers and commitment from others in the squad or the club and this is what made him reluctant to end his career here ? David is right its done now and we go on, I have seen a fair few disappointments over the years, listening to Dominant I remember so real downs in the 80’s but as he rightly pointed out on this show and yesterdays update we remain fans regardless of the hits and lows. Hopefully we galvanise and take something meaningful from the rest of the season, it wont make up for how we have capitulated in the league but equally maybe, just maybe it isn’t done yet and we are in for helicopter Sunday 2 !

Spoon

I simultaneously agree with everything you say about our lack of coaching of players and disagree about putting GVB out the door ! I dont think we can just jump back onto the manager merry round, especially when there are no funds for scrapping plans and starting again every 6 - 12 months. The big question as always would be, who do you get in that's better ?

Douglas Innes

Goldson is 30 at the end of the year and he had 2 to 3 years out with his heart problem so its fair to say his next contract is his last big one , yes he cares thats a built in trait in people , doesn't matter what job I've done or how much I've been paid I've always " cared " ....that's a life thing for Goldson

Spoon

I’m suggesting he’s disappointed as he does care mate that’s my point tbh. I wonder if he doesn’t feel others are willing to give as much

Martin Boyd

I think he’s pissed off with the lack of bottle from some of his team mates .

Spoon

I thought that about his comments at the time

Martin Boyd

Could not agree more about McGregor it’s been obvious all season ,he’s done , will not come for any sort of cross his distribution is appalling should have been dropped in September last year.

chris smith

People forget that this team are all punts of one kind or another… bosmans/cross-border cheapos/ageing returnees/poor injury records/prospects unproven/loanees…. every single one of them. The only people in the squad who had ever won anything before were Shagger and Davis and even then that was from a different era. Gerrard always talked about buying players with the right mentality but this almost never happened and cost/price always outweighed mentality in any recruitment situation. We do ofc have some good players, but as Celtic imploded last season, our players won a watch and not being serial winners they simply werent up for a struggle this season it seems falling back into the same inconsistent patterns as pre- last season. The board threw everything at 55 in order to get the fans onside with the increasing monetisation of the club but there was never a realistic chance of financing consolidation IF Celtic got their act together again and started utilising their in built financial advantage wisely. 55 was a fairytale but ultimately it was built on sand … both in terms of the squad and in the boardroom

Rod

It mentally drains our defence having to defend balls into our 6 yard box because the keeper won't come and get it. Hopefully teams get so used to doing it that next season every corner will go into our new keepers hands.

Gary Shaw

Got to say I agree with most of what you’re saying…slightly unfair to say we won a watch because Celtic imploded as our points total would have won the League in any year of the past 20 years apart from Rodgers’ 1st season and we broke the record for goals conceded as well….That being said, that then points to mentality for me as you touch on….3 out of 4 years were we have bricked it a after Christmas and the only time we didn’t is when we were playing at empty stadiums and our rivals were eating themselves to death…….Good post 👍

Gary Shaw

I agree with you that we’ll be hard pushed to find a GK that pulls off worldies like McGregor but domestically we very rarely deal with opposition that are capable of the type of shots that need a worldie…More often than not the goals against us are from cross balls that are coming on top of our GK who just point blank refuses to even attempt to come for it….a bit different in Europe were the GK is forced to make cracking saves as we’re up against top players

David Rome

Cammy your wrong on Sakala. You need player who threaten the goal. He does that. He’s a threat. The other two in wide area offer absolutely nothing. Give me a Sakala every day over under achieving players. 2 goals from Ryan kent an utter embarrassment.

Nikky Cairney

Great pod. Agree with a lot being said. The rebuild we are facing this summer is massive. Bigger than most think. McGregor, Davis, Goldson, Balogun and Arfield are all out of contract and all will likely leave with only possibly Balogun getting a year extra as back up. Morelos, Kent, Aribo and Helander are all in final year and I think its time to get what we can for all of them. Possible exception being Morelos but 11 league goals still isn't enough no matter how much we love him. You then get to the deadwood of Wright, Itten and Simpson who should all leave. Loans will end in Ramsey and Diallo. Then we have Barisic, Kamara, Hagi, Roofe and Sakala who I'd imagine the majority of fan base would accept decent to good offers on. Going to be an almighty summer and I don't trust Wilson to oversee it. And whilst GVB's record is terrible in the league it isn't all on him, far from it. Same could've happened with Gerrard. But at the same time, do I see him being the guy to take us forward. Heart and head both say no.

Cameron Bell

Sakala looks lost, and there’s a reason he’s barely being used before a shit out of form Aribo or a knackered Arfield, his pace should be able to create space and time but his finishing is woeful. I agree with Kent’s goals (in fairness he’s been in positions where he should’ve had tap ins too) but given the penalties he’s won us, he’s slightly contributed in other areas offensively. Sakala either needs coached or moved on.

Andrew

How much of his finishing is coming in on his left foot though, Cammy?

Gary Brown

I have a few observations. I'm trying to limit personal opinion and highlight some underlying issues which could explain our 'core' problems this season. Defence has been poor all season - Practically every single goal against has been down to an individual error (or numerous individual errors eg M'well 1-1, 2nd at Ross County 3-3) like Ross has already said. Go back, check them out. St Mirren kid hit a cracker, other than that none really 'earned' (+ pens given against but not for in same circumstances too!) There's really not much which can be done tactically & in training to plan for these brain-farts.Happened under SG, happening under GvB. Both managers have very comparable records this season. One with his team, who he chose, knows & worked with daily for over 3 years. The other, well he inherited the last guy's players. Realistically a better job done considering GvB was 'behind the start line' with these players. Same players who romped to 55 - 55 + Stop 10 was the be all and end all, drummed into the players. Failure last year was ultimate failure, transversely ultimate success! Relentle55 film, the phrase '"the last dance"' was used by most of the players. Many signed up to 'the project' and it was noticeable SG used "completed the remit" when moving on to Villa. That boxed off thinking & attitude 'bought into' and absorbed by the players. 55 the top of the mountain. Also consider Liverpool 19/20, chasing the dream, gave more than their all to beat the odds and win. They suffered in 20/21, just not 'on it' like they had been in 19/20. Gave too much last season cited by the pundits. Our display last season to this has been almost identical. Fabulous play, over achievement, glory then too many inexplicable individual errors and points dropped at home the next. Don't under estimate the anger / injustice caused by the '0.75 zoom call title' awarded 19/20. For Scots / Scottish football supporters such lunacy / sporting integrity is normal. To everyone else, everywhere else, grossly unfair & unfathomable. Last season's attitude was we HAD to destroy everyone ON the park, as we were never going to get a fair deal off it. Played above & beyond fuelled by it. This season, that same drive isnt there, as the reason for it wasn't there. We are playing far more highly competitive matches than 'they' are. Just fact! Squad depth / quality is in question but what can GvB do? Throw in young Lowry to that OF game and it could set the lad back years, GvB cops it for not going with tried & tested. Same with 'not trusting' other squad players. Always poor after the winter break - Winter pitches. Our game is for short, quick passes and rapid movement to receive the ball. Difficult to do on SPFL cow fields, extra touches needed. IMO - poor pitches aside, our speed of play, or lack of it, has been the biggest factor in our attacking shortcomings this season. The above are just things to consider, underlying elements, not excuses - the team hasn't been firing properly all season. Yes some players need to move on. Some change is needed. Do we really need a fire sale of players and changes of manager, execs & board too? IMO - GvBs biggest shortcoming is simply that he is NOT Steven Gerrard. However he is getting comparable results with the same players and suffering the same problems. Had Gerrard not left would there be calls for his sacking? Or for him to continue with a refresh of players? Gio is to Gerrard what Sir Walter was to Souness and McLeish was to Advocaat. Changes to pragmatic & considered from flamboyant & adventurous. Replying to David's presser question Gio knows exactly what is wrong, avoidable goals conceded and chances not converted. Every previous manager, even Pedro, has been given time & varying degrees of money to put their players / team / style on the park. Surely Gio deserves no lesser treatment or opportunity?

Andrew Barrie

My boss (big Arsenal fan) keeps an eye on Rangers and remarked that 2022 Rangers = 2006 Arsenal. Off the back of their best years in living memory for a lot of us, Arsenal then struggled badly for league form that season while dispatching the likes of Real Madrid to make the UCL final. The similarities don't stop there: Pires was about to leave, Bergkamp about to retire, Henry and Campbell both wanted to leave and ended up staying on a year longer than they should. Consider that we are seemingly at the end of a similar cycle with a lot of our key players from last year having one eye on the door (McGregor, Goldson, Kamara, Aribo, Barisic etc), he commented that the advantage we have is that we have a new manager and coaching team, a possible advantage that Arsenal did not have, and should allow us a cleaner break come the summer. Celtic have shown that you can fix a squad in turmoil in just 1 well-run transfer window. Let's hope we can go one better than Arsenal did in 2006 and actually win our Euro tournament.

Stevie

I’m not sure it’s delusional to think another keeper (JM) wouldn’t have thrown at least six goals in and been poor for 6 others as McGregor has done. 2 at RC, Two at Parkhead, Two on Sunday, Hearts at Home, Two at home to Motherwell etc etc If that makes me (or us) delusional then I hold my hands up.

Gary Shaw

I agree with a lot of that,Baz…Just got this nagging feeling that he’s not the right fit but I do think he’s got to be given the opportunity of a summer window were he should have som room to manoeuvre…I’ve heard that we gave Pedro that opportunity and look what happened there but as much as I’m not fully bought in to GVB,I certainly don’t think he’s embarrassed us in the fashion that Pedro done

Douglas Hannah

Every manager deserves the chance to stamp his own mark on the team, this team have shown over the last few years they could go from the sublime in Europe under Gerrard to the ridiculous against jobbers in the league and cup games. Sounds mental we would consider sacking a manager who has 2 games away from a possible Europa League semi final. Big players deals running out Goldson Davis and McGregor will free up a lot of cash to bring in good level of player for next season. I know domestically it’s been a shambles dropping points Ross County D Utd Aberdeen and rest, I’m hoping he has confidence to turn things around.

Jim

Re McGregor I said to a few people the other week pre the Red Star game that Mclaughlin should be no 1 for the rest of the season. Shagger is a brilliant shot stopper but domestic teams know they only have to get the ball to the 6 yard line and its bedlam

Scott Cameron

Fair and sensible discussion from all, big end to the season required for GVB to get the summer to build his squad. Lose 2 OF games and no trophies then i doubt he can survive that.

Callum Dinnen

On the 'self policing' aspect - what the fuck are we employing the police for? It's illegal to be drunk in a football ground, it's illegal to bring drink into a football ground. How are these arseholes allowed into the ground in the state they're in and with a cargo on their person?

David Clapperton

Gerrard couldn’t dig them out for a lack of hunger because he wasn’t hungry for this season himself. He’s admitted so. And looking at him through his playing career, he never defended a single thing he won.

Fraser Black

I said this after the Hibs LCSF defeat & stand by it now, last season was the exception rather than the rule for this team. Again & again they have let us down in big pressure domestic games over the years. There are so many to call upon as evidence. Even this season, that Aberdeen game after we lost Walter, I thought it was pretty sickening that we came out & got turned over by them. I would love someone to ask at the next press conference, to explain why so many big pressure domestic games over the last few years the players have simply failed to deliver. Last season, unfortunately, looks very much like our “Leicester” . . . Totally agree with Stevie this season is almost a carbon copy of 19/20. Eerily close actually. Only difference is Europe. Agree with you lads entirely, the team just needs freshened up & started again. Jury is definitely still out on GVB & Wilson, of that there is no doubt.

Graeme Brown

It’s a very good point re: Gio and whether he deserves the chance to rebuild the squad next season. It’s a “chicken or egg” situation and as you’ve summed up nicely, my gut feeling is that he shouldn’t get the chance to spend big (?) money on overhauling the team. As David’s said before; other clubs can employ a “coach”. We need a “Rangers manager”. I’m not sure Gio fills the blazer in the manner required.

Scotia Scoot

Taken a good few days to get to this, but cathartic, so thanks for that. Onto tomorrow for response 💪🏼
