Flat boring and clueless. Similar to GVB post match interview. All joking aside, is the difference in personality between SG and GVB being transferred to our team. ?

David Hanlon

Sorry for this but the manager hasn't a clue. BRAGA are not a good side but we were terrible.

Stephen

Looks like we've morphed back in time to that pre covid team. However our ball retention at times was great but without a top class striker we looked clueless in the final third. Looks like we were happy to take it back chasing a one goal defect. Don't know wear the goals are going to come from at the moment.

Neil McWhirter

We look really toothless just can't see where goals are coming from and we are conceding shite goals, not a good combo.

Trev @JimmyBell_Loyal

Sakala is shite. Boy should be a professional sprinter and not a football player.

Steven Carmichael

Half time. Ramsey will start at Ibrox and be the difference maker. Key tonight was not to lose by a margin, dont forget team form is pish and didnt need to overexpose tonight. Patience peeps.

Rory Stride

I think it's difficult to assess this performance because people are judging it against Gerrard's teams aggressive away euro performances. I think, fundamentally, GvB is far more cautious and pragmatic. It was clear the approach tonight was to ensure the tie was alive for the second leg. It wasn't pretty but we are still in the tie. That was the objective. I think we would all back us to beat Braga 2-0 at Ibrox. They are good side with strong results against Benfica, Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Monaco, Red Star and Sheriff this season. I don't think we should undermine the quality of their side. If we had been more expansive and aggressive in our pressing, the tie could have been over tonight which would have been disasterous. Anyway, onwards to next Thursday

Bixby Snyder

Great oral performance from Hoggy tonight. "Boils my piss..." Lol. Barisic was my MOTM.

Doug Young

Awful. No heart, no soul, no bite. Pathetic. Kamara best player...for Braga. I wanted Gio here but really got to wonder what the fuck he is doing with this team. They don't even look like they understand what he wants.

Iain Shaw

The positives: 1. taking a 1-0 deficit into a second leg at home has never been a disaster in Europe. The tie is very much alive. 2. Braga are not a great team. What worries me is that we're limping into the second leg with a performance like that. It was absolutely in keeping with our domestic form. There are question marks all over the park, with so many players out of form. Our attacking play was impotent even during the brief periods when we matched them and were tidy on the ball. It was always going to be difficult without Morelos, of course. But we need to find solutions. There are narrow away defeats in Europe where you say same effort again plus home advantage gets us the win. This wasn't that. Play the same way again next week and our Europa campaign is done. We need a massive uptick in performance and energy levels across the team, and Gio needs to get the team selection spot on, including finding some way of incorporating Roofe that isn't just hoping he can fill in for Alfie.

Mason Mclean

What is Gio's philosophy? he's clueless

Boston Bear

The entire team looks drained of confidence and energy. Gio has to bring back Ramsey and Davis next week to inject some life back into the side. As for Sakala and Roofe, surely Gio has to have Roy Makaay working with these two 24/7!!

Gary Shaw

Did I just hear Hoggy say that Sebo had ability???😩

Gary Shaw

Can’t ever remember watching Sebo and thinking “that guy has ability”…but each to their own Hoggy

Alan Kirker

Hoggy is spot on just said the same myself about how it was a 50/50 game for 20odd minutes until they hit the post and we completely shat the bed.

Stuart Lamont

I just wonder if Gio has lost the dressing room, I think every Rangers fan watching that last night was screaming at their tv for GVB to bring Ramsey on, the one player that would be able to create something and he leaves him on the bench, the mind boggles !!!!

Cameron Rankin

Good result. Really fancy our chances of getting into the semis. I would start with the team that finished, maybe bring Ramsay in.

Martyn Dick

The players who have more ‘football intelligence’ should be judged more harshly than players like Fashion. Kamara was brutal last night for a player with his ability.…fashion got feck all service in decent areas outside of the first 15 and then started coming short which he cannot do. Midfield was so poor in attack and defence throughout much of the 90mins. Good result, poor performance.

Derek Johnston

If our support think we can bully a World Cup Finalist Dutch Captain into submission we are well out of the realms of history and reality. Play Ramsey in behind next week. Kent through the middle with Roofe and Fash right and left. Go for the jugular. I’d personally prefer 3-5-2 but we might not have done the prep that shape takes. There’s more than a winning team in our squad. But a rarity at Rangers is needed here, patience!

Iain MacDougall

Some of his decisions confuse me I will admit, I will give him his own summer transfer window. Sometimes I wonder if he has already told players they won't be here next season?? Ramsey, if fit, should always start considering what we have seen. Lundstram or Bassey maybe for MOTM but that's a stretch to call one.

Jamie Kirk

Have we always just got lucky and punched above our weight? Celtic were so bad last year we looked better than what we actually are? The players can’t handle pressure. They can’t perform under pressure. Ok they have done it but they can’t do it consistently. There’s a mentality problem. There’s a lack of urgency, drive and belief in our team. It’s been like this for a long time. Even during the warm up v Celtic last Sunday the intensity was night and day. Our players dining out on 55? Lack of hunger? There’s so many issues and Iv not even started with the recruitment from ross Wilson. Atrocious overall. Even back to kemar roofe. He was a championship striker who didn’t cut it in Belgium. And that’s a statement signing 😲🤦🏼‍♂️ If braga score wr ibrox on Thursday we need we least 3 goals to win. Where are we scoring 2 goals from right now without Alfie? Also where are we keeping a clean sheet these days? Dave Voss seems uninspiring. Gio as much as it pains be to say it seems not ready for this job. And I want him to be a success so much. The 12 point swing in the league is almost unheard of. Wouldn’t of happened under Gerrard. I think we have to give Gio time. Give him the majority of next season. But I am worried. I hope to god he turns it around. He could win the cup and get to a europa semi. The hope is still there. But it’s also very likely we go out to braga and we lost to Celtic. Trophieless season. £40 million to Celtic thanks to us. Depressing.

Gordon Millar

Totally agree with Hoggy, posted in the CEO chat that we started well but first attack from Braga popped the confidence balloon and the key stone cops defending kicked in....similar to Sunday and not easily fixed....that said we have a chance for a Europa League semi-final need to throw everything at it next week.....optimistic loyal

David Innes

Agree with all of this. Deep down I think most of us knew how the season was going to pan out after the 2-2 draw with Motherwell. Alfie’s injury put it beyond doubt for me and now it’s like watching a slow motion car crash

Jamie

Bassey shouts for MOTM. Wow. Defensively so poor last night.

Gordon Millar

I respect your point and I get that most are having a go at GVB and at times he is hardly inspiring but , we gave Gerrard 3 years(granted from a poor base) and we've barely given Gio 3 months and with zero opportunity to bring in his own players. Roll forward 12 months and if he hasn't rebuilt the spine of the team, got rid of the mentally weak or given youth a chance then I'm with you. Finances will dictate he stays for a least a year, but I get that it's a risk.

Stuart Hill

I’ve read this £40m to Celtic a lot since last Sunday and thought that can’t be right so I googled this years prize money breakdown CL and was quite surprised. Yes £40m plus ‘if you win the thing’ The figures were in dollars however using current exchange rate, group stage £14m (around what we’ll earn from this years EL) It’s then staggered up the way each round you qualify for with the winners receiving £17m plus the money for each round. £2.5m for a win, £800k per draw. Given they’ve been pumped all over Europe this year it’s highly unlikely Celtic will get out the group stages so getting anything near £40m is just not going to happen. Suppose it sets the narrative of trying to make a bad situation sound worse.

Laura Clarke

Hi Stuart, it’s the TV revenue that takes it up to that figure. Scotland doesn’t have its own TV deal with UEFA, we watch the games via BT. Therefore, any Scottish team get money from the TV pot allocated for the British clubs as a whole. This is substantial thanks to the draw of the EPL clubs.

Rose Mcloughlin

Good pod guys....so we roll on to Ibrox...the confidence level of our players is zero...but that's not down to the fans who have been fantastic even though at times we have watched dire games...so the change has to come from the strong characters in the dressing room and the Manager...we can only live in hope...roll on next thursday.

Douglas Innes

Thought Barisic did well when he came on and bassey looked more assured centrally than balogun ...... something to think on for me

Iain Shaw

Couldn't disagree with the podders that it was really disappointing how flat we were for a European quarter final. Some players overawed by the occasion perhaps, more likely we're just out of sorts and obviously missing Morelos. We just never really played with particular intensity. You see it happen to teams in latter stages of tournaments, we're not the first. But makes it all the more bizarre that we've got a guy sitting on the bench unused who has played his entire career in teams that expect to go far in Europe, with a final and a few club and international semi finals to his name. Hope we see a completely different character of performance in the second leg.

Pedro

Beyond bonkers indeed. Gio is a man with no plan.

Jamie Kirk

Gio could sell, helander, barisic, kamara, Hagi, Morelos, Aribo and Kent and bring in at least 60 million. How much of that he would have to spend is a different question but I would hope the majority of it. Then he could bring in much better players and before you know it we are much better and we qualify for the group stages which brings us the massive TV money of up to £40 million. Then……it’s not that bad anymore.

Gary Shaw

£60m????…don’t make me laugh 😂…3 of them are in the last year of their contract,Hagi and Aribo are 2 of the most overhyped players I’ve seen in my near 40yrs watching Rangers,Helander is made of chalk and Barasic has the heart and mind of a puppy….Take Morelos away from that list and you’ll be lucky to get £6m for the lot never mind sixty

Jamie Kirk

Morelos - 15 Kamara - 10 Kent - 15 Hagi - 10 Helander - 6 Aribo - 15 Barisic - 10 There’s 66 million and most of these players have been reported in the media with higher bids previously. Lazio bid 14 for Hagi and Leeds the same for Kent. Leicester were in for helander for 7 mill and Gerard was linked with Kamara for 15

Gary Shaw

The media????…must be true then
