Such a poor performance. Players looked like they never really believed they could score. Resorted to crossing and hoping for the best like we did on Sunday. Good teams will deal with that comfortably all day.

We have a negative perception of 3 at the back, but our glaring weakness is the lack of available runners when our centre halves are on the ball. At times we're almost playing with a 5-5 formation in possession, we'd actually benefit from having a third man in the backline, so we can spread play around a little bit easier. We constantly leave Goldson and Balogun to move the ball to an isolated fullback, before we punt it down the line.

The decision to not introduce Ramsey to the match seems questionable. GvB answer was short and obtuse which makes me wonder if he's trying to protect the player because he knows the stigma and media scrutiny that Ramsey would face if he said he wasn't fit enough to positively contribute tonight. If it was a tactical decision I feel he would have been forthcoming in explaining his rationale.

Also, I'm assuming from Diallo's lack of involvement again tonight that it's safe to conclude that the management team has no confidence in his ability to follow tactical instructions and change the game?

Have said elsewhere, Half time. Ramsey will start at Ibrox and be a difference maker. Key tonight was not to lose by a margin, dont forget team form is pish and didnt need to overexpose and be out of it at Ibrox. Patience peeps.

Apologies if this appears reactionary, but I have lost faith in van Bronckhurst and this current crop of players. A dull, uninspiring performance in the image of the manager. Backwards, sideways then hoof or lose possession, rinse and repeat. Who is kicking arses in that dressing room, where is the inspiration coming from? We still have a good chance in the second leg, but I don't trust Gio or Ross Wilson to lead the biggest re-build of the last five years. Get rid.

Are this team being coached? The last few games it looks like we don't have a clue how to go about scoring a goal. Some players looked like strangers at points tonight. Quickly loosing sight of what gio is trying to do.

My Mr Struth 'tolerance & sanity' head on here - almost everyone said pre Dortmund "if we can just stay in it, get it back to Ibrox still in with a chance...." 1-0 away at Dortmund, any sort of performance and everyone's tail would have been wagging! They are a very young,, very fast team, rapid on the counter attack, we're not young or fast. Their last match Friday evening, ours Sunday afternoon. 'Lesser' team but this is 2 rounds further on in the tournament, remember when the post group draw was made in Nov, no one expected us to progress. 2 goal win at Ibrox vs Braga is not impossible. Say in your head in Steven Gerrard's voice 'We reset and go again in the next game'!

I think harsh on Roofe, we were much better after he came on. However scunnered that we never switched Arfield for Ramsay. Definitely a chance missed, but after sleeping on it we have a great chance next week if we are on it....

Good post match as ever lads, sensible points made. @ Adam, I posted on Sunday that Kent's race was run and wanted Diallo on for the last 10 mins to mix it up.....we can conclude, I think now, that GVB does not rate/trust him, he could have played the Roofe role without much risk defensively and offered more pace on a through ball, it never happened and this gives you your answer. I also get the negativity on the manager but IMO he will get at least 3 windows to bring in his own players. If we are in 12 months time pressing teams and playing with the positivity of Braga, with Lowry and McCann being brought through gradually and the spine of the team rebuilt and performing then we will have moved on to a new era....a lot of ifs and there is risks but thats where we should be headed....lastly we have to pray that we can raise decent funds from players, who should have gone last year to fund new purchases, if not we are in trouble.
