Graeme Burns

Cedric Itten, why has this not worked? On paper he should be banging them in for us in the SPFL - is he a victim of the system and what would it take to play to his strengths? I think he needs to play in a front two, he needs to be more aggressive and he needs to work on his hold-up play.

I think you're spot on there Graeme ... for me it's the lack of aggression and that willingness to 'throw the body on the line' ... he's a good player and obviously an internationalist in a good Swiss side so no reason ... it's frustrating as with Alfie out it's a position we really need options

Am I the only one that thinks we keep McLaughlin as number 1 next year and McCorie for number 2 and progress him to be the number 1? Would rather us spend money else where in the team other than keeper. Also completely disagree with tav not being captain he lead by example and he does demand from his teammates on the park we just don’t see it on our screens. He never hides even when he is having a shocker. He is captain until he leaves for me no question.

Scott Watson

McCrorie's progression really seems to have stalled Season 2019-2020 - Goes to Queen of the South, does well, gets recalled in January and sent back out to Livi, does quite well there too (32 appearances) Season 2020-2021 - Goes back out on loan to Livingston, but this loan doesn't really go very well. He only made a handful of appearances after Christmas (18 appearances) Season 2021-2022 - Made the two appearances due to COVID - made a couple of decent saves against Celtic but didn't really have very much to do to draw any conclusions (2 appearances) If McCrorie had been signed as a 20 year old and gone through these seasons, there would be massive questions being asked about what we saw in him. I reluctantly conclude that the fact he has come through the youth system makes us rate him more than the available evidence can support I would be delighted to be proven wrong and see him go on to play 600 games for us 😀

I can see Lundstram with the captain's armband in 2-3 years, if he keeps on improving and commanding like he has. Assuming tav moves on/retires. Bassey is another we should hang on to as long as possible. Kent/Aribo/Kamara are the obvious keepers. Other than that, I don't mind if Gio has his way with the rest of the positions and brings in some young legs - Lowry, King.

I think big John deserves a sustained run in the side. He might not be spectacular but he's pretty damn solid and you feel fairly comfortable having him go in aa back up when he has done unlike when we had Nicky Walker or Theo Snellders. I think there's still a chance for McCorrie. I put that logic down to the fact that McGregor didn't become number 1 till he was what, 24/25? But it does feel he's at a cross roads so who knows?

I think if you rewind back to his signing, it looled then that Alfie might be for the off. Had that happened we would've had Roofe, Itten and Defoe as out and out strikers. Obviously Alfie stayed and he was down the pecking order. He's got good attributes but he's not someone that we would have spearhead pur attack, i think that has now been proven. I'm sure he'll be punted and all the best to him.

Oh by the way folks, we forgot to mention on the show Niko Katic. What's everyone's thoughts on him? I wouldn't mind Gio having a look at him in preseason and going from there. Thoughts?

Jason

I would agree. He is certainly an improvement on the likes of Simpson! And if Gio doesn't fancy him a club in Croatia will probs take him for a decent enough fee.
