We need to make space in the squad to allow youth to come through.

I think we missed the opportunity to sell a couple of players in the summer, Ryan Kent being the main one, I feel we could've got up to or more than 20m for him but now we're probably looking at 12-15m? I agree that Gio needs to be backed though, i'm feeling a bit of trepidation towards this summer transfer window. Great listen lads, cheers.

Superb podcast again. Thanks for all your hard work this season.

I absolutely love when Big Andy gets rolled out on the flagship. 😃. Always provides cracking opinions and comments. Superb stuff from David too. Glad the season has come to an end before I get a stomach ulcer with the stress of the last few months! Team gave it their all.

Totally agree about Bassey. 25m should be the minimum. I also think a sell on is a must as he'll move to a top European club if he doesn't do it the first time. His rapid development is like nothing I've ever seen at our club.

It’s crucial they make all the right decisions this summer, and also make headway with new contracts for valuable assets in the first team. Anyone on two years and don’t want to sign need to go. There‘’as lot of pressure on Wilson to get things right, and for the board to stop penny pinching. They brought in this manager, he has earned them a lot of money and he deserves to be backed fully. Our transfer activity over the last three windows has been abysmal. It was £12m for Patterson and add ons, and £4-5m for Gerrard going. None of that was spent either. That should mean theres a very healthy budget this year. Bassey need to have his contract upgraded, and if he doesn’t want to extend it, then we sell him this summer and reinvest. That’s the model, as we keep getting told.

We made a 23 million loss last season and a 16 million loss the season before The board ate those losses to avoid selling players out from under Gerrard We would all love flashy new signings but the idea that the board is not putting money into the club does not match reality

Great summary of a fantastic, if exhausting season. Thanks for all your efforts H and H; don't under-estimate how much the fan media helps raise our enjoyment to new levels. Much better to be listening/ talking to like-minded folks than reading/ listening to the drudge on mainstream media.

One thing that we can take away from the final is that we are now truly (as said at the end) back where we belong. Europa league final and 55 are symbolic. We are now back to challenging domestically and in Europe. I feel 2008 and this year have cemented a desire by the club and the fans to take Europe more seriously too and not give up. I think we will see more semis and finals in the years to come, keep dreaming.

Great show David & Andy. Great to hear your considered reviews of the topics and your opinions, thanks. And thanks for all the other Flagship shows this season👍 I think in years to come a 'Dominant' style show will have this season reviewed as far more significant than most of the support feel it is right now. This has been a season probably unparalleled in terms of expectations - failing in ones we believed were practically assured (CL qualifying, 56, Gerrard as boss) and over-achievement in one we had no realistic hope in (Europa Lge) Also probably an unparalleled season for disruption (& trauma) in the vast excesses between joy & dispair; being back at Ibrox, CL failure, losing Walter, Gerrard leaving, Lge Cup fiasco, Gio arriving, EL qualification, 150th celebrations, Sydney squabbling, busting Hampden hoodoo, losing Jimmy Bell, making EL final, losing lge, losing EL so narrowly, breaking 13 yr cup hoodoo. Any single one of those setbacks is a big kick in the guts, but look at how the team, club & support have reacted, adapted and won over ALL of that lot! As Balogun said, knocked down, got back up, again & again & again....... It IS a season we should be proud of! We 'threw away' the league. 4 points! 20/02/22: denied a stonewall pen at Dundee Utd and Dundee denied a stonewall pen at them. Penalties scored = 4 point swing! 2 crap ref decisions in it, that's all, no Angeball miracle, no dominance on their part, no collapse on ours. Add in more poor ref-ing, some fixture 'alterations' in favour of a certain mhob! We all know we dropped too many points, silly individual errors. Can think off the top of my head of 6 (there are more!) all of which cost us points. Can't actually think of more than 2 or 3 goals 'earned' by our opponents this season We cannot be too downhearted by silly errors. If it were; Fundamental errors in tactics - Yes! Inept management & coaching - Yes! Poor quality of playing staff - Yes! Inability to create chances - Yes! But its none of those. That 4 points is nothing we can't make up & surpass. 56 next season! Treble next season! Europe? Who knows but we have guaranteed EL group games. Bring it on!!!! McLauchlin #1 next season, Greegs backup and / or coaching role (if he wants). If he wants to retire, last game v Spurs. There's little doubt the Board bankrolled 55 to their own detriment (& perhaps business sense!). Then no one wanted that team disrupted with CL qualifying / group games in mind. We have to accept the player trading model and there may not be big bucks for transfers right now. We could struggle to keep Kent (Germany calling!), Aribo and likely Bassey now too. But we have Helander & Hagi's return and young talents Lowry, King and others emerging.
