Marseille became the only French team to win the Champions League after beating Milan in the 1993 Final.

 It was a crowning achievement and promised to usher in a new era of dominance for OM. That is, until the police dug up 250,000 francs in the garden of Christophe Robert’s Aunt.

Looking forward to listening to this tonight although I may end up very angry 😠 That CSKA team were handsomely rewarded: you could tell just by looking at their celebrations after a meaningless 0-0 draw.

Great pod Steven & Kevin, superb listen. A few things I'd forgotten, like Beckenbauer being there for a bit and a few I didn't know, like saving Adidas. Tapie. Cheat! End of. Do anything to get his own way. Oh yes, did some positive, constructive things - so did Hitler!! UEFA bottling it at the time. But it took time after the event for pretinent facts to emerge, and don't forget France (Euro big 5 nation) were hosting the World Cup in a few years time. UEFA should have subsequently stripped them of the title & record blanked. At 'best' it would've been awarded by default to Milan. Can't just take it back to Rangers contesting final as the 'foul', gotta include all the group & qualifying games because everyone has a claim that other opponents were bribed / ref bought. All matches would need replayed, never going to happen. I couldn't ever wear a Marseille top either. I still celebrate any defeat they have in the Champions Lge with a clenched fist pump & hearty "Yaaas! GIRUY Cheating B@$tards!" to this day😆 They had an amazing team, shouldn't have needed to cheat / bribe / dope.
