We could see no players being sold again. We made good money with europa run. We made good money from season ticket sales (£25 million approx). Gio might see champions league group stages as priority number 1. With a £40 million jackpot to add to what we have already made. Then, our players can command even bigger fees after performing in the champions league. Then next summer we cash in on these assets but at that time we are in a much much stronger financial position and can afford to replace these players we sell with bigger money instant impact players instead of always looking for cheaper players to develop.

Brian Rae

I could see the logic with offering Arfield a new deal even though I probably wouldn't have. Davis and McGregor imo should've been thanked for their service and left to pursue other opportunities. If we had just had a season with any other keeper that had cost us north of 6 league points, we would be clamouring for a new keeper and certainly not calling to renew his contract. We were all mostly expecting a rebuild unseen since 2018 and what we will most likely get is a "wait and see" approach until after the champions league qualifiers. Now, where have I seen that before?🤔

CRAIG CASSELLS

We have 3 big players, Kent, Alfie and Aribo, probably worth a combined £40m, who can walk for free next summer unless they sign contract extensions. Failure to extend then they should be put up for sale before this window closes.

Graeme McLeod

Neither Allan McGregor or Jon McLaughlin being our full time number one next year fills me with much enthusiasm. I can appreciate it's not top priority position just now - striker and a right winger trump it - but I'd still like to see us bring in a keeper to compete to be number one. (And as much as I love McGregor, I'd rather see McCrorie being our number two next year and get chances to show what he can do.)

Colin Mathie

Can we stop re-signing players that we really should be saying goodbye to, its not funny anymore.

Tamus

Please just Go Allan, your presence will only hinder us now - you were quick enough to GTF in 2012

Leslie White

A simple question, WHY! Are we even considering giving McGregor an extension, whether it be coaching or whatever, we are not a benevolent society and as such, look to the future and not the past. I absolutely agree McGregor is second to none on shot stopping, however on cross balls and commanding his six yard box, he’s the opposite.

John Smith

I’m glad Shagger is getting an extension. He more than deserves it for what he’s given the club. I’d love to see him become our goalkeeping coach in future

Martin Davies

I have no idea what Allan McGregor is like behind the scenes, so if this is a player/coach role then I have no issues. However, Allan McGregor should not be our number 1 next season. His mistakes cost us dearly last season and it would be a huge gamble to stick with him next season. Teams target him at set plays and it puts our defenders under immense pressure to win every first ball or there's a good chance we concede.

Graham Jones

We need to bring in fresh talent. The place is going stale after a lack of imagination in the signings department over the past eighteen months. Apart from a late flourish from Lundstrum, the rest have not really made the mark. Sakala has a chance, but the rest have been a waste of resources. The new management gave them a lift last season, but there has to be fresh faces this summer, who have been targeted by the manager and the recruitment department. Losing Andy Scoulding was a blow, because he was responsible for scouting many of the successes wee brought in. Wonder who is going to head that up now. One of Wilson mob probably. It’s the same with losing the doctor. We’re being targeted for our talent now, so we need to be ready to replace anyone. That could include the manager.

Martin Davies

Just seen that McGregor has signed for another year. Our recruitment strategy appears to be really short term. From the loans in January of players we could never sign permanently, to re-signing Davis, Arfield and now McGregor. These aging guys cannot play 40-50 games next season. Neither can Roofe, Helander, Jack and Soutter for different reasons. So our squad comprises aging players, injury prone players and half a dozen prized assets who appear to be running down their contracts. Where's the next batch of sellable assets in our buy low sell high model coming from? I've been very calm despite the hysteria about a lack of signings but its shaping up to be much like last summer. Worrying.

Thanks for the update David, lots of news today. I agree totally McLauchlin is now #1, we looked much more solid with him playing (dont forget he, not AMcG, was responsible for our amazing clean sheet record the start of 55 season). AMcG - Coaching role, #2 if needed, #1 if needed. We desperately need a striker. Playing without one in 2 major finals shouldn't be happening to a club of our size. Lost 2 out of 5, Defoe & Itten since January, that 5 includes Sakala as a striker. Roofe has his injury issues. The Buff has buff issues! I think fans might need to accept the idea we wont be buying lots of players and certainly not lots of successful, top of their game, ready-made 1st teamers - maybe 1 or if we're lucky 2. Last year's 'right into the team-er' was John Lundstrum - who most would've sold in Jan!! We have a number of 'talents' simmering just under and bubbling up into 1st team level - I think everyone is going to have to get used to watching the B-team more often to find out where our next big stars are coming from. Player trading model has to be actioned more often for us to be continuously sustainable. As supporters we not only need to accept this is the future, it is the present too.

What’s the situation David with the press this coming season. Are Rangers continuing with the current model where the likes of Heart and Hand pay again for the privilege or is it reverting back to the more traditional model where you didn’t?

Gordon Millar

The club need to be clearer on their recruitment strategy, without giving away too much information to opposition clubs. To unite the support we need to be given a better understanding of the logic in extending so many senior player contracts. What would help is an understanding of the plan to introduce B team players and the profile of potential recruits.

Hi David any dates yet for the re arranged Dunfermline live show, as I'm sure it will be a great night. Glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Listening to the update during a tropical storm in Cancun Met up with a sound West Ham supporter look forward to informing him of the planned friendly at Ibrox 👌🏻

Jack meyer

Lots of rumours of the West Ham game at ibrox on 19th rather than 16th, any idea?

Gary Brown

I don't think they can be clearer without compromise. Way I look at it, we don't know who is playing until an hour before KO. And we don't know what formation / system is being played until they take the field. The last few years have shown, without a shadow of a doubt, the transfer cards are kept tightly to their chest until the deal is done. And in the main, they've done just fine.

Andrew Carter

Gutted i will miss Bob Mould , bloody work 🤬
