Can’t believe I paid a tenner to watch that 🫠

KAD87

Shambles that but only half time. Feels like we need to keep lundstram in midfield as much as possible on nights like that. Why he was so defensive is beyond me. Kamara…not got what Aribo had I’m afraid and he’s really underperforming.

Greg Archibald

Accounting for squad ability, I genuinely think that's the worst rangers performance I've ever seen. Actually a bit embarrassed that the tie is even still alive... almost deserve to go out after that.

Andrew Hillis

A cluster fuck of a performance! Why are we never ready for Champions League qualifiers! Gio and players to a man fucked it tonight! On a par tactically and effort of Progres!

Colin Mathie

That was f'n disgraceful tonight, utterly shocking.

Andrew Hillis

Inexplicable - they are a pub team

Neil McWhirter

Don't use this term very much with Rangers but that performance tonight was DISGRACEFUL

Jim Milne

Tav and Sands kept bombing forward and Lundstram had no choice but to cover. 40% were all new players. The performance was similar to Braga last year, playing for 1-0 and 2nd leg. Tie is not lost, but I cannot fathom why we only signed one forward when none of the forwards we already have are even fit yet. Colak scored 2 easy goals last year for Malmo, let's hope he does it again next week.

Jim Milne

There better be some fucking swearing in this recording.

Stephen

That’s 4 opportunities we have had to get in the champions league in the past year and we have made a mess of it every time! That was dreadful tonight.

Andrew Hillis

To be fair - it was a strong enough starting line up!

Andrew Hind

Our away form in Europe is not good but that was a disgrace

Andrew Hillis

Gio’s back room staff did not scout this team at all

Ryan Stewart

il listen in the morning lads. Genuinely don’t know where to even start with that. Normally there are areas you can identify where a performance went wrong or individuals you can pick out who played badly. That was such a complete omnishambles in all departments from start to finish it almost seems unfair to single anyway out. That being said there are 2 or 3 players from that team who have been good servants for us over the last few years that I would happily never see play again tbh.

Alan Cowan

Clusterfuck of the highest standard. Tactically clueless and each player should apologise for the worst 90 in many a year.

David McCulloch

Dave Vos ajax youth coach, gio and Roy won league with feyenoord. Wheres the Dutch contingent that can play a ball forward and keep hold of it!?

Greg Archibald

A confidence player who's also a coward is a terrible mix. Loses all confidence and therefore ability far too often. Think his time is up as harsh as that sounds

Christopher Doak

Let's be honest. Every time gio has set up defensively that's what happens. It's never worked.

Craig Stevens

It's difficult to make sensible comments when you're still seething after a match but by fuck that was grim.... to be honest after seeing the line-up then the formation I wasn't going to bother. Far too much respect for opposition ? Gio's shit the bed tonight, and we got exactly what we fuckin deserved...

aldo adens

Can't even bring myself to listen to this so f'n annoyed. My takes from tonight Borna for me not just past 2 games but majority of last season has show he is now on the decline and is now costing us which can not continue. We all got excited after Borna got goal against B'pool and had a decent performance against West Ham as we all hold out for the Borna that was unplayable during 55 season but he is now a hindrance for us going forward and defending. Kamara as much as he can be good but going forward he can't get played in a advanced position in the team as he automatically slows it down how many times is the ball on for 1 touch and get the ball passed does he take touch and try a faint or play a pass that is far 2 soft like a few times he tried tonight he slows it down. McGlaughlin am sorry isn't number 1 material for me 2 games in a row Livi goal positioning suspect 1st goal tonight am sorry a number 1 for our club has to save that yes he made a good save 2 stop it going to 3 nil but that still does not stop the fact its a very poor goal a number 1 GK at our club concedes. Not overly convinced McGregor is number 1 standard now as you go back to last season points he cost us yes he saved us in games in league and in europe but the points he cost us lead to a 2nd place finish. Is McCrorie the answer we don't know not seen enough of him in goal for our club but the 2 games I seen last season he looked more comfortable with ball at his feet than the other 2 and was still very commanding in and around his box and done himself no harm in they games. Gio got his tactics massively wrong with the mantra get them back to Ibrox and we will be fine yes it worked last year but after time being that reliant on getting to the home game is going to cost you like tonight. If people disagree with what I have said then I apologise if I am wrong but that's my opinion and I will happily discuss points with fellow bears.

Gazza_Hendo

Terrible performance but ‘a pub team’? Come on

Mark

I just watched his interview. He doesn't think he got it wrong; blamed the players.

Stuart cunningham

We miss Alfredo and Kent so much. Utter crap up top tonight no press or service

stefan strzelecki

On the plan , I think the manager must understand , that we need to either trust the forwards to fill the void left by Kent and Alfie. Or recruit another quality link up striker to gel the attacks. The fact he didn’t make changes until late on, gives the impression he doesn’t trust the squad as much as he indicates to the media.

Martin Davies

You're all being kind with the comments on Colak. He's shown nothing to suggest he can be a player for us. More Eduardo Herrera than Dado Prso.

Greg Archibald

I think he definitely needs to show more off the ball but he's not exactly had the service to show what he can do

Scott Cochrane

We play 4-3-3 against West Ham & Spurs but go with & stick with 3-4-2-1 tonight. Unfathomable!

aldo adens

Even haaland would look like herrera with the service the team have offerd colak during all the pre season games and the 2 competitive games he has started for us

David Innes

Surprised at how bad the performance was but not by the result. Getting caught cold by average opposition in European qualifiers is just what happens to Scottish teams year after year and sadly we are no exception.

Billy McCormack

Borna looked happy and relieved when he was subbed.

William Hughes

Just fucking angry after watching that.

Jim Milne

He knows 99% of fans have made up their mind and don't want him in the team. Probably best we part ways for both Borna and us. Rickson is the only player I have seen turn this level of frustration from fans around. IMO Borna isn't strong enough mentally to turn this around. Fresh start is needed for his career and our squad.

Martin Davies

I get the lack of service. But go and hunt the ball down, pressure defenders - he looked like he was either going through the motions or is seriously slow. Or show for the ball, invite runners from deep and try to bring others into the game. But he done absolutely nothing and to be honest has shown nothing to give us even a glimmer of hope that he'll do us a turn.

Doug Young

Glad someone pointed out Goldson. I mean they were all.poor but he was absolutely awful. Lost the ball in the midfield and immediately tried to blame the guys in front of him. So poor.

aldo adens

Martin I get everything you are saying the times he did chase the defence down and the gk down the team never pushed up as we held our position so did he get instructed to hold his position or just think what's the point both are unacceptable from the team not pushing up to close the gaps or on him just giving up. In my opinion he could have shown for the ball all night apart from first 10 minutes we never tried to move the ball with any pace or purpose forward we were happy to play safe passes between each other then players would complain about lack of movement prime example jack taking 3 or 4 extra touches when pass was on to matondo then passed back inside the park and complained during the 1st half.

Simon

Borna was nowhere near the worst player on the park for me. Colak, Matonda and Jack were empty shirts.

KAD87

Yeah to be fair I don’t think it was Lundstrams fault. He played three at the back even when on the ball, so Tav was always gonna bomb forward. Couldn’t agree more about attacking options but I believe it is more an attacking midfield problem than a striker problem…although one more of those available at the moment wouldn’t go a miss.

Liam Johnson

Tav kept trying that wee chip up the line he was trying in the Europa final n it never worked once that night either. Too good now to hit the byline wants to be in the box grabbing the glory. Colak had no service whatsoever, but yes hasn’t shown us much. Davies n Yilmaz looked decent. Why buy a CH fae Liverpool wi tonnes of EPL experience but play a right footed midfielder fae the MLS? Think Sands passed to Borna twice in the first half. “Cnae throw Davies in in a big game” but u can your front 3? Could analyse it to death, 101 things wrong tonight. The subs to make at HT Sands Jack n Matondo off for Davies Lawrence and Wright. Also not sticking up for him but its no coincidence every season that Borna’s performances then confidence have disappeared its been when he’s not had a left footed CH next to him. Going all the way back to after Helander got injured in the LCF n we allegedly fell apart after Dubai. Sorry for the rant but my Mrs fucked off up the stairs with the dog 🤦🏼‍♂️

Graeme McLeod

Tonight did nothing to ease my concerns that, while we've signed a large number of players, we haven't brought in enough quality to improve a team that fell short last season. I hope the Kent and Morelos contract renewals weren't dependant on CL group stage football, as that's likely gone now. Also really don't see what some fans do in Jon McLaughlin. He's a reliable backup but nothing more. Last season he wasn't considered good enough to be number one when McGregor was going through a rough patch. McGregor being older doesn't mean McLaughlin has gotten better - it's a regression if he's now number one because of McGregor's age. He's going to cost us goals this season.

aldo adens

Graeme spot on regarding McGlaughlin I made a comment further up regarding a host of issues from tonight and gk was a area I highlighted

Gordon Millar

Totally agree on Steven Davis, an important UCL tie early in the season and we leave our most experienced player on the bench....this in the midst of a large change in players close season.....it just makes sense, but that was in short supply within our management team tonight......don't completely rip up tne blueprint, ease your new players in...

Doug Young

You have to wonder why we have the fastest player in Europe in the side and then reduce the game to walking pace. Midfield was utterly empty of soul.

stuamaclean-rednblackscarf

We’re thinking McLaughlin is the new Buffon simply becos he’s a bit better than McGregor at the things we don’t like But is he really good enough to be a Rangers number 1? Woods Goram Klos McGregor McLaughlin Much more than this wrong tonight, Borna, Jack, Matondo non existent. Like you guys I’m absolutely deflated tonight.

Gary Smith

Baffled that manager played with a back three full game when it was obvious it wasn’t working and we were getting overrun in midfield. To then state post match that system was same as last year is nonsense. We only reverted to a back three last year when trying to se a game out. In summary if we don’t manage to turn this around next week (unlikely) then this is an absolute shocker from manager and players, far worse than Malmo last year.

Colin

The more I think about it I think Gio set us up for the occasion, for what was at stake, rather then the opposition. And that’s what caused our downfall. If we were drew in a group with that team we would beat them home and away.

aldo adens

Colin I agree the occasion he set us up for was to still be in the game for return leg at ibrox but only so many times you can use the get back to ibrox card before you get a slap in the face tonight wasn't a slap in the face it was a knock out punch.

Greg Archibald

The philosophy of keeping the tie alive and getting it back to Ibrox might explain the lack of subs too. Seemed like rather than change things and try to win he just doubled down on the get it back to Ibrox mentality because that's what worked in the latter stages last year. Still seems very out of character for how tactically fluid and opposition over occasion focused Gio has shown he can be.

Thomas

The rationale is simple it worked last year . That’s it .

Heart and Hand

We might turn it round, we might not. But I’m not sure in two-legged ties we can always gamble on ‘we’ll be fine at Ibrox’.

Jordan Neill

Steve Davis is not the answer when we need to be more attacking n going at teams, would still be getting the same sideways slow build up. Correct about jack n kamara but we need to start signing guys that teams don't want to play against, guys that will play with pace and skill, looking to attack and attack with a purpose. Getting sick watching guys that we got for free or next to nothing in the midfield. We've been screaming out for better quality for years

Douglas Hannah

Yilmaz is the future, and the future starts now, BB tea is out and RW must be looking to move him in this window for whatever he can get for him, I can handle players having a bad night, but his bottle has totally gone. Kamara and Jack were both a waste of space Kamara gets praised to high heavens but he was woeful tonight, just like Saturday v Livi, sideways turn backwards, re repeat, pass the buck, well pass the buck isn’t good enough for Rangers. As for Ryan Jack not being fit, how long are we going to persist with this, sure when he is and playing beside JL we look good, but it’s atrocious the return we are getting from him. Could carry on going through just about every player, bar Tillman, they let the support down badly, but no time to feel sorry for themselves, rocket required up them for Saturday and pray Kent and Morelos available for the return leg.

Gary Shaw

Sadly,I’ve seen this game a hundred times in European qualifying matches,be it Gothenburg,Kaunas or Victoria Zizkov….

Scott Watson

Has everyone already forgotten that Kamara, playing in the 10 spot, was pivotal in lots of our attacking output in the Europa League last season? Scored against Leipzig Played in Kent to set up Tav against Leipzig Played in Aribo to set up Roofe against Braga Played in Kent for the goal that killed the tie against Red Star That doesn't mean it's his best position, or he's the best available option there, but the idea that he's absolutely hopeless there doesn't seem consistent with available evidence

Scott Watson

"Can I read to you from the IFAB rules?" "I'd love you to" Splendid work to find a moment of humour admist the debris chaps 😄

John Johnston

Looking forward to the latest episode of ally's adventures to lighten the mood.

Luke

We could have had Lewandowski playing up front last night and still finish goalless. It genuinely look like we still don’t know how to play with a number 9 which is frightening. Our midfield seemed to play more forward passes to opposition players than our own. Totally off the boil and dread to think what a team like Monoco or PSV could do in the next round, if by some miracle we progress.

Lewis Wardrope

Sorry if somebody else has already mentioned it. Did anyone else notice in Gio’s interview with premier sports, when he was asked about the system? Emma Dodds asked if one of the issues was some of the players not being used to playing in that system. And he said that is the same system we always play. But it’s not. We only played that system a couple of times last season for maybe the last 10-15 mins of european games to see out slender leads. We’ve never played that way for a full a 90mins, and I’d be surprised if we’ve even scored a goal playing that system

David Scott

We are missing, Hagi,Roofe,Morelos,Kent, Helander etc, and several players playing in Europe with us for the 1st time was a recipe for disaster, luckily at 0-2 its not over but if Tav never cleared that one off the line i think it would be over……huge improvements needed for Tuesday.

Fraser Black

Great point by Stuart that we’ve had so many variations of a #9 over the last 4 years yet we somehow still have no idea how to play without Morelos. It’s almost pretty scandalous that yet another window has gone by without this being addressed.

PR__92

They were saying on the BBC that the rules with handball changed again this season regarding it hitting your own player

Scott Watson

On the other hand we got through a Europa League quarter-final and semi-final and a Scottish cup semi-final and final without him

Gary Shaw

I know it’s early days but big Colak to me comes across as another bottle merchant….he got booked on Saturday for jumping up arm first and he did the same last night in the very first second of the game when Dands hit a diagonal to him…no bravery or commitment either for the chance that Tillman set up for him

Fraser Black

Yeah you’re totally right we did but we were always putting a plaster over a situation that needed addressed in the summer. Colak looks so far to not have enough of an all round game to do what we need him to do. He can’t come short & link like Roofe, he can’t use his pace like Sakala & can’t beat a man with skill like Aribo. All players who played through those ties you mentioned last season . . .

Callum Queen

Saw the Rangers squad in Glasgow airport last night as they were going through passport control. Everyone of them looked absolutely miserable
