Gio seems infatuated with USG, speaks all the time about how great they are. In his head he has built them up to be a far tougher opponent than they are and it showed last night.

Martin Boyd

Your correct about sleepless night , tossed and turned all bloody night. Awful performance from everyone involved from the manager down.

Tamus

That's a tune and a 1/2 - punks not dead

Douglas Hannah

Great player but terrible pundit, happy to sit with Richard Gordon and take the haters money, short memory has Mark.

Dejon Yeoman

Did seem that way. I wonder also if Dave Vos also played his part there. The team seemed so robotic and static, as though paralysed by coaching instruction and no freedom to express themselves off the cuff.

KennyY

David I thought that Yilmaz did well considering he’s only just arrived in the country a few days ago. Would start him over Borna at the weekend

Colin Mathie

Seagulls is back, all is right with the world.

Dingus

Concerning there appeared to be a disconnect between management and players last night. Body language, Tav especially, appeared to show players didn’t believe in the formation which led to safe passing, lack of movement and eventually a completely disjointed performance. Also a concern that with such an inept performance, Gio appeared to have his arse glued to his seat.

Doug Maclean

Could you re-record today’s pod and have 20 minutes of the Undertones ? They fair cheered me up ⚽️🥲. 🕺💃

Leslie White

Simple question for one of the Shows, “When’s the Last Time We Had a Attacking Midfield” going by my thoughts it was last Century, I.E. Albertz, Ferguson, Ferguson?

Graham johnston

Our experiences with VAR in Europe had proven to me that it won't solve anything in Scotland and will make it worse. We have been on the end of two of the worse calls if u consider last night and Dortmund at home last year. Can u imagine the meltdown if either of those decisions go against Celtic this year. I know we were shit yesterday but two nil makes it a twice as hard to come back from. How can the ref get away with such a bad decision.

Martin Davies

I'm away to listen to the Ally show to cheer me up 😪

Ross Whitehead

Sleepless night is dead right David. I'm walking around in a daze and can't wait to go to bed.

Samuel Campbell

Great tune today. Going to see the undertones support stiff little fingers in a few weeks. Can't wait

Dougie

After a shocker like last night i always look forward to the next DU! Being 330 miles down south I don’t get to vent with many fellow bears apart from socials! The DU always puts the game into a new light and a calmer head the day after ie David eases that😊 What did we do before H&H Patreon🤷🏼‍♂️ keep smashing it 🔴⚪️🔵

stephen

We are just dugshit at the start of every season, pedestrian in pace for reasons I genuinely don't understand.

Adam Copeland

Do you think Gio is aiming to produce an exciting brand of football? Since he became manager I'm struggling to think of many breathtaking performances? What is his style?

Owen Scott

Re B Team games. Surely it's down to Rangers to request moving games 24 hours etc. It's not down to Lowland League to reschedule everything. The fact Rangers haven't moved games so far just adds to the theory that Season Tickets are just basically just buying MyGers points

Alan Bradley

Good update Davie, agree 100% that everyone will be scunnered after last night’s game. Great point made about behaviours within the H&H community. Clearly all of the fantastic content was a key factor in me subscribing several years ago. However what really swung it for me was the emphasis you placed on standards and the need for everyone to be respectful with one another. Last night was just another great example of how within our community when we are frustrated, disappointed and at times angry too, everyone still acts in a proper and decent manner.

Brian Rae

I'm still annoyed after that last night. We need a top-quality playmaker in that midfield ASAP. One of Lundstram, Jack or Kamara should play unless it's an elite-level team. Even then, we need to upgrade like we needed to 3 seasons ago. Still waiting. Relying on our centre halves to provide defence-splitting passes is becoming extremely irritating. Colak is getting some stick but we created nothing for him. His game is in the penalty box and he is nothing like Morelos. Baffling that the team isn't set up to provide service to him. Itten had the same problem TBH.

Doug

To be fair those were more than balanced out by VAR decisions that benefited us. Multiple goals chopped off for offsides, the pens against Dortmund etc. VAR is always going to work both ways.

Doug

Would love an Albertz right now, I think that's exactly the kind of player we are lacking.

Doug

To be honest I think I'd have been as dumbfounded as him. For me this one lands 90% on the players. There's no excuse for their performances, it was all the basics that were wrong. Couldn't even stick simple passes together. I can't see how they'd lack belief in a system that has done us so well, but even if that was the case it doesn't excuse performing like that. They are professionals and should still have been able to make it work.

Graeme McLeod

We should start him and Ben Davies. No point taking our time when the left side of the back four is toiling.

Paul Kerr

I think they used the guts of HAL9000 to construct the website.

Graeme McLeod

The players were always going for the safe, short five yard pass when more incisive options were there. There's zero chance that was the gaffer's instruction. The players let themselves and us down last night. Even if the tactics were wrong, there was zero urgency or attempts to do anything. Scott Wright was hardly electric yet showed more drive to try to get forward than most of the team had for the whole game prior.

Graham johnston

Im not saying we don't get any decisions or there is an agenda or something. However the decisions we got were all correct. Red Star were offside. It was a penalty against Dortmund. My issue is that even with the technology the refs of smaller nations can't get it right. Can u imagine the back lash if the ref gets one wrong against Celtic. We will need to import refs again lol

PR__92

Things are too nice around here who wants a square go in all seriousness Twitter is full of zoomers that's why I got rid of it football fans are hysterical at the best of times but it's good to come on here and it be civilised

David Harrison

Really sick of seeing comments on various forums from fans saying things like “that penalty decision wasn’t a decisive factor. We were garbage and could have lost by 4 or 5”. Yes, maybe we could have lost by 4 or 5, but we didn’t. We lost by 2, and one of those shouldn’t have counted. Hopefully we can claw it back next week.

Steven Harvey

That’s a brilliant comment and made me chuckle after being in a bit of a mood today after last nights shambles 😂

Gordon Smith

Slightly pedantic but below par means they were good. The correct metaphor would be above par.

Stephen

I watched first half of the psv v Monaco game. Var called the ref to have a look at a potential penalty and the ref disagreed and said no penalty for a hand ball. Then to see var give USG a penalty and the ref just agree with them I was scunnered.

Gordon Allan

Tune, had to listen to My Perfect Cousin after that

Brian McLatchie

David, coming home from end of Aug to end of Sept can you add me to your friends if you can't use your tickets

Graeme McLeod

Surely the problem is that Itten and Colak don't suit how the team is set up then? Neither are good enough to warrant changing the team's entire approach. It's frankly odd to sign someone who doesn't have similar qualities to Morelos or even Roofe given how we play. And Colak's career goal scoring record hardly inspires much confidence regardless. Souttar was clearly not a Gio signing, and I'd be surprised if a few of our summer signings were players he was after.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David.

Brian Rae

We are where we are. Colak has been signed, good enough or not. So the least the coaching team could do is set the team up to provide service to him. Otherwise, what is the point? He's clearly capable of scoring as he proved against us last season. Players like Morelos are very rare and often out with our budget. We are also far too reliant on him, everyone wanting him thrown in after 5 months out proves that.
