Big big call by Gio … suspect that fact that the squad have come out and backed him leaves Morelos no way back …

Joseph Berwick

Wouldn’t say there’s no way back for him, we do have another striker that’s bagging goals now so Morelos just has to prove his worth to the team again, both mentally and physically.

chris smith

I think he will think it is the end as the squad have sided with the manager

Dylan Brand

Breaking bad throwback with the song choice there Colin

Billy McCormack

It's looks like the squad are pissed with Alfie aswell to back Gio, especially after being so petulant and getting sent off when we needed him after Lundstrum was wrongfully sent off.

William Electricity

No win situation on this one: either keep him and he continues to disrupt under a manager who doesnt like him. Or, we cut our losses and sell him at a fraction of the price.

Shaun

Well done Colin - what a bat shit crazy update that was to deliver 🥴

James Cameron

Big call by Gio over Alfie. Can;t see a way back for him now. Time to cut our losses and move on. Need a quality replacement not a experimental EPL youngster on loan they never work out for us. Question is do we have the money and being late on in transfer window prices will be at a premium.

Nikky Cairney

Morelos isn’t our best player and not everyone loves him. Might be how you feel Colin but I know a lot of fans who actually don’t think he scores enough goals domestically, myself included.

Ian MacLeod

Alfie's Instagram post "The best warrior is not the one who always triumphs but the one who fearlessly returns to battle" suggests to me that he is indicating that he is willing to screw the nut, get fit and return to battle. Is that just me?

WILLIAM JACK

Colin, I feel you're being a bit cynical on the unofficial bid by the American businesswoman to buy Rangers without telling Rangers. Just because a bid is bad faith, bollocks, based on failed revenue streams and technology that doesn't exist, does that mean we don't even give her a (third) hearing? What we really need to know is who her favourite player was growing up and then we can make an informed decision.

Scott Hamilton

Have to feel all her investor pack is missing is a Rangers Monorail

Douglas McIntyre

Disgraceful sending off and deciding to bring on an unfit Morelos? The captain’s naive enough to join the pile-on which was just more poor decision making. Fastest Jack moved all day was dodging their late equaliser along with Goldson.

Andrew Hind

Hopefully Alfie will screw the nut, get back to work and show Gio he is worth a second chance they way the goalie did all them years ago, although its not looking great just now

Andrew Hillis

Can’t help thinking this could have been way better managed given the size of our personnel and resources! Although sounds as though Alfie hasn’t done himself or the club any favours! Not what we need at the beginning of a massive season and so close to the transfer deadline!

Greg

We have to play nice on here so I'll just say I completely disagree.

Graham Jones

The balls in Alfies court, it’s as simple as that. He’s nowhere near fit, and clearly his head isn;t right because the weight hasn’t shifted he reappeared in the squad. So, it’s up to him. It’s the right call, because he would be cargo over in Holland. The American woman sounds a right head case. I mean, nobody in Silicon Valley believes that NFT’s have any mileage in them. Her valuations are way off as well, and I suspect your right about us seeing a documentary about her soon on Netflix.

Doug Young

I don't think it can be as simple as Gio not fancying Alfie. Post-Gerrard and pre-injury, Buffalo was absolutely on fire. Personally think he's a bit miffed about a new forward in town hogging the goals and he's not sure how to handle.

Doug

There's still the third option that he bucks up his ideas, knuckles down and gets back to his best. Even if he does that though, I think we've reached a point where we seriously need to consider selling him regardless. The baggage is beginning to weigh heavy on the brilliance. The ideal realistic scenario I think, is that he improves, we get him on a new deal to maintain his value and then sell him for as best we can to £10m-£15m, realistically given all his issues closer to the ten. Without a new deal, we'll probably lose him for free, or a minor sum in January.

Doug

I think over the course of his career he's been our best player given his overall contribution, alongside Tav who I think is the only one to be in close contention. He could have potentially scored more, but that's in part due to the fact he's masked the deficiencies in our attacking midfield by coming deep, and being mobile in wide positions. That has, in my opinion though, left us with no one in the box at times we've needed someone. The 1 in 2 goals per game speaks for itself but so does being the most red carded player. The baggage is being to out weight the brilliance though. We've now improved our attacking midfield players which should mean our striker can focus more on scoring & less on other things, which Colak has been doing thus far. With Hagi also still to return, we'll be a different team moving forward than we've been before. Obviously I'd much prefer a firing Morelos, so we have options to change our game. On form, in the UCL he could be a key player in helping when we're under the cosh, which we often would be. That said, this is probably now the best position we've been in since he signed, to potentially push on without him (albeit I think we'd need to purchase more cover).

Doug

I'd certainly like to think so. If he (or his agent) are smart, they would realise that even if he wants to eventually leave, it's still in his best interests to have a good season with us, scoring lots of goals and playing his best. Especially if that's in the UCL. It'll only help him get a better move if that's his aim.

Alan Murdoch

He always does this to you Colin! Off swanning round Europe leaving you to do the heavy lifting...

Neil McWhirter

Can't see a way back for buff, looks like a sad end to his Rangers career.

David

I love Alfie but it's the same old same old with him every year. Hopefully we can offload before the window shuts and get someone else in

Brian Bamford

John Lundstrums appeal was heard today: Recinded to a yellow under grounds of wrongful dismissal "Claim partially upheld. A1 – Serious Foul Play; the original sanction is rescinded, and replaced by cautionable offence B1B. Recklessly trips or attempts to trip an opponent."

Gordon Millar

Colin - What I find strange is the club comms on this, surely it would have been better to keep this in-house but I accept that we don't know the extent of Alfie's attitude issues.....I just think at a time when the club could be calling for full time referees and using clever comms to let the authorities know we are aware of some strange statistical anomalies in the refereeing of games, that we deflect the story away from this issue......the manager could have said the game is too important to risk any player who does not have match sharpness etc and worked with Alfie along with teammates to rectify any concerns....however this may have been done for all I know....just think the optics aren't right on this and give our enemies ammunition for Alfie pile on....just my opinion.

Tommy

Looks like club comms have fed lies with regards to players being involved in the decision, with Goldson and Gio shutting it down. Looks like we’re back to the old days where club are quite happy to lie to the support. Appreciate you guys are in a tricky position, you can only report what you’ve heard or been told but I think it’s time to take what club tells you with a pinch of salt. It feels like they are incompetent and liars and are making this situation worse.

David Speedie

What a PR shambles this has been The club feeding a line to media outlets, said media outlets running with this followed by the vice captain stating the complete opposite All while our best player is being hung out to dry and the manager’s being made look a bit silly in amongst all this A total disaster the day before a massive game.

Craig Robertson

Colin you're presenting a lot of background information here, where are you getting it from?

Douglas Hannah

Surprised hearing Alfie had most red cards 8, I was sure W Bud Johnston had more than that.
