Wednesday evening sees us return to the venue of some of our greatest European results, and we could sure use another to see our return to the Champions League Group stage.

With the tie poised perfectly in the balance at 2-2 after Ibrox this is a Cup final without the medals, but no shortage of prize.

Alex, Steven, and Kevin discuss the upcoming match.

What a strange opening. 3 wins and a draw so far, added to a decent performance against a very good PSV team, but one of the guys on this is already huffing and puffing about being 5 points behind before we even play Celtic.

Just listening to the podcast as news on Alfie breaks. Similar to you Strider, I have a blindspot with Alfie’s previous conduct. But it’s the right call by Gio.

Martin Davies

Right call by Gio if there are concerns with Alfredo's attitude and fitness. I was distraught when Smith put Goram on the transfer list all those years ago, but managers simply can't tolerate insubordination from players. Just look at Mbappe as an example of what happens when a player is allowed to do what he pleases.

John Davidson

Prophetic words from Strider about Alfie. Hard to disagree with your line of argument.

CRAIG CASSELLS

Strider, you hit the nail on the head re your summing up of Alfie situation. Following on from last Wednesday second half which PSV fully dominated I don't hold out much hope for tomorrow night. I'm a pessimist and can see a 3-0 drubbing coming our way.

Scott Watson

Between Steven predicting Davis starting and Alex calling for Alfie to be left out, I'm starting to think that Gio is a listener 😃 This is the first time we've had all three results predicted since I started tracking at the beginning of last season

Agree with Kevin that we just don't look as hungry or eager as we should. I don't think it's as simple as two defensive midfielders. Jack and Lundstram both more than capable of playing closer to the front but clearly told to play it slow and steady. We looked absolutely immense last year against the likes of Dortmund when we pressed high with energy and urgency. We rarely see that speed in league games. Our players are much much better than the vast majority of domestic opponents and we should be hammering that home.

Completely agree with the point that when Gio has played with a lone 6, we’ve had no control of the game. He put an abundance of attacking players on the park at parkhead in January and we got absolutely hosed for 30 minutes. That’s left scars. Also agree that vs. the jobbers, we should be much more gung ho though. We’re a better side than them, but they appreciate that if they play all out attack against dross, they’ll win almost every time.

Hey all great pod as always but I have a minor request. Sometimes by the time the preview comes out I've already listened to over an hour of H&H pods on the previous game and simply skip your excellent analysis sorry. Any chance we could get the time the preview starts in the comments when it's posted? I know I know but hey sometimes I just don't wanna listen to anymore coverages of the last game and another typically 25+minutes is a lot to skip through with no target time.

I think going for early goals v PSV is the best option will be more respected if it goes wrong and highest chance of success. On the point that recruitment, working towards an attacking creating midfielder or developing a player into that I think that’s a failing for the recruitment team / manager that we are having this conversation a week before the window shuts it’s been a major issue for too many windows. Hopefully we bring in a modern day Gazza before the proverbial door slamming !

As the minutes tick by to KO time I'm becoming more and more pessimistic. I don't like feeling like this and really hope i'm pleasantly surprised later on.

We try to bore the opposition to death basically. Our XG in relation to our possession stats must be among the worst in Britain.
