The international break drags on, but on the plus side, there's no Rangers to talk about for Shane, David and Peter on this week's CROpod. At least no football; you can't get through an international break anymore without Rangers coming along to really annoy you about something.

Crossover-content as Richard Nixon made some headlines this week, plus we say goodbye to Lewis Macleod in a manner about as brief as his shining moments for the club. Most of the second half is spent tackling listener questions, which means of course that we begin to answer questions and then reminisce about World Cups of yore. All that and more on this week's CROpod.

Really enjoyed the CRO Pod as usual, thanks Shane, David & Peter 👍 I never knew Fanta was Nazi juice !! Bestie - Legend!! Winter World Cup is an unusual prospect. I was very dismissive and actually in a wee huff, not looking forward to it at all. But you guys put an intriguing slant on it and the more I think about it, the more I agree. Looking forward to it now 🙂

Coca-Cola created it in Nazi Germany due to the US trade embargo. They couldn't ship the real syrup over, so they used like whey and sugar beet and other fruit scraps—one person working on the project called the ingredients the leftovers of leftovers. Coke then lost control of their plant when we were brought into the war in '41 but got it back in '45. The Nazis took control of Coke's Dutch plant, too, but the Fanta they made there wasn't the same as the shit in Germany. Coke didn't keep making either when they got their plants back, but when Pepsi started making a bunch of new kinds of fizzy drinks in the post-war years Coke finally brought the Fanta brand back, sometime in the mid-50s I think. But yeah, more fizzy drink knowledge for the CROpod!

Surely the most important point to negotiate in the kettle challenge - is the bitter humiliation of public failure and disgrace punishment enough, or must a forfeit be performed?

Thanks Shane - such an amazing 'backstory' for a drink! I doubt Red Kola has similar, but's it's worth a taste test😉

Oh so true. "Right wing communism". We need a PAYE supporting political party that represents the interest of 'normal' people. Doubt it will catch on in my lifetime though.😥😥

Another fantastic show guys , as a resident of ballymacash I laughed out loud while walking my dogs past the bluebell stadium !

Shane

I gotta get one of these shirts, Dave. You know who I gotta bother for that?

David adams

I can certainly ask for you , they are only an amateur division team so don’t know if they actually sell them .

Shane

Thanks, David! Yeah, I figured that might be the case. No rush, whenever you get by there and see also David or Robert or whomever it is that would pack it up and post it to me lol

Sandy

Thanks for the Ballymacash Rangers heads-up! Just invested in a magnificent Tee-Shirt

Great stuff lads. I would rather spend an afternoon with Debbie Harry circa 2022 than watch Hibs v Ayr Utd. 🤷‍♂️🤨😂
