In the latest show, David interviews a friend of the Reading Rangers pod, the fabulous Davie Herd about his new book, "Kings of the League Cup" (or the Rangers trophy as it should be known

He talks about how Rangers have won the trophy more often than The Others and Aberdeen put together and how Ally McCoist has won three more League Cup winners medals than Aberdeen have in his history

A great chat with an entertaining and knowledgeable Rangers man - Part 2 will be available next Sunday at 7am

Great show, guys. David, I've nearly finished your book. Really enjoying the detail and memories provoked by it. You are right about a League Cup win being most Gers fans first memory of success. Mine was 1963 with the 5-0 v Morton. Keep writing the Gers books, I'll keep buying them ( with thousands of others)

Thanks for having me back on David, and well done in keeping me down to 2 hours!

I’m surprised big Davie, even let you get a word in. Was expecting 4 hours between you guys. 😂

Thanks for bringing us this pod David and thanks for the personal insight into your book Davie. A wee ray of retrospective sunshine in a very gloomy weekend. Thanks guys. Pre-ordered this (yes the discount code works) as the League Cup has a special place in my personal Rangers history. It duly arrived and I'm really looking forward to reading it and listening to part 2 next week.

Glad you liked it, but hope we're all in a better mood next Sunday than we were this weekend!

Loved that review there, just touching some my early memory’s of rangers with Walters, durrant and super ally. Looking forward to part two which I will remember even more, even better when it’s your neighbour reviewing his second book. Really interesting hour David 👏🏻

David and David, well done on a super discussion. So many memories of the Bears in the League Cup. I remember how the trophy was derided as a “Mickey Mouse” cup in the days when it was our personal possession, then was hailed as a highly prestigious honour whenever we failed to win it. Funny that! I recall the October 1986 final as a major landmark - I felt victory that day signified that Rangers were back on track. Something you both refer to about that season’s team. The media wrote off our success that season as simply down to Souness spending countless millions on superstar players. In fact many of that season’s team had played in Jock Wallace’s dismal final season - Cooper, McCoist, Fleck, Durant, Derek Ferguson, McPherson, Munro, and in the early part of the season, Ted McMinn and Cammy Fraser. Notice the media’s double standards - putting Rangers’ period of dominance as down purely to the size of our chequebook. Yet they fawn over Postecoglou without mentioning that he has outspent Rangers fourfold since he started with that lot. Looking forward to the next instalment 👍
