Colin Mathie

There's no saving him now, he has to go.

Ian Cartledge

Needs to go, what tactics is he trying to implement?!

Paul Kerr

***Sharpens pitch fork in anticipation of listening***

Alan Black

Every other game the conversation is the same, this has been staring us in the face since last January, we have regressed so much in the last year. Who would have thought appointing a manager who got chased out of Chinese diddy team wouldn’t work out.

C. J

8 months ago we were saying he wasn't the man for the job. He had a purple patch in Europe. Aside from that, Pedro-esque. Boot him.

mark wyper

When something is broken you've got to fix it.

David

He needs to go tonight. If the board haven't been thinking of doing this for a few weeks now then I will be shocked.

Alan Murdoch

Get hints out now. Get the team bus to drop him at the airport

james whyte

Gios away record since he came in is awful. He has to be sacked now. Otherwise what are the board saying? That its okay to be 7 points behind after 13 games and another Lge chucked away already. Thanks for the European run and the Cup. But we have went backwards so quickly since winning the Lge its frightening. Weak all over. We need an overhaul but im unsure we will get it. Probably be 2025 and Arfield starts at Parkhead! Scunnered.

james whyte

Kent runs into an opponent and falls over. Thats about it these days from him. Awful stuff for a long period. Just 1 of those players needing moved on now.

Simon H&H

That he appears to be going round doing interviews post match, then it appears this board are quite content

Thomas scroggie

I have backed him up until Livingston he really has to go now

Derek Maxwell

Today must be the final straw. Wanted to give Gio the chance to Xmas, but I’m afraid today was too much!!

Gary Notman

Not good enough as usual. The manager simply has to go. His ineptitude was masked by the Euro run. We’ve been consistently inconsistent in the league since January. We for the most part struggle to break down teams both home and away, and it doesn’t look to be changing any time soon. Throw in to the ring the fact that he has failed to defeat Celtic within 90 minutes on 5 separate occasions, 2 of which were an embarrassment. Move on Gio.

William Black

There’s literally no point sacking Gio unless Wilson goes as well.

Brian Moore

Here’s a question: Who in this current squad, including the injured players, do you keep or are happy to keep?

Jim Mcewan

The only thing keeping him in his job is the board don’t want to pay the compensation. Going on previous I shudder to think who they’ll get to replace him.

Mark Davidson

He has to go when it comes to performances buck stops with him. Saying that the man that employed him and has overseen a horrendous recruitment programme must also go. I can't wait to see the back of half of this team come the summer

JM

Gerrard did a post match the night he was sacked by Villa.

James Tucker

Not only have we handed them the league but direct entry into the Champions League and all the money that goes with it. Make no mistake about it, this is a massive backward step now

Ron Jeremy

Was a toxic atmosphere in the stands today,he simply has to go

Duncan.lyon

Totally Agree, don’t post it on Follow Follow you will get a weeks ban, was banned this week on a post about Borna spotted going to Heathrow on Wednesday to see Chelsea against Zagreb. I mentioned he was flying to Iceland first then down to Heathrow as Gio had booked his tickets “must go backwards first before going forward” one week ban.

Lewis Wardrope

Not sure how obvious it was on the tele, but it was noticeable from the stands. Malik Tillman was hiding big style. If Sakala got the ball on the right, Tillman was over on the left next to Kent and vice-versa. Surely as a number 10, the two options you have when a winger gets the ball are: get close to them to give them an option, or get in the box to give them a target to cross to. I’m not saying that was the only issue today. Cause there were many of them.

Scott

Gio out, that is all. I've wanted him out since the Old Firm tanking this season.

Pedro

Spot on guys. A diabolical performance which is in keeping with what Gio serves us. How anyone can still defend him I cannot fathom.

David Innes

I absolutely want him to go but I just can’t see the board acting. They will be desperate not to pay the compensation and I think they will cling to the achievements from last season and the fact he got us into the Champions League as reasons to keep him until the end of the season. Just my gut feeling at the moment

Ewan Taylor

Even if we came back and won 3-2 today, most of us I believe still would want him out.

Joseph Berwick

Absolute shambles from the boardroom to the pitch. This club needs to be rebuilt from top to bottom.

Tamus

Wewease Wodawick

James Anderson

Taking off Davis, was an utterly amateur decision...

Pondo Sinatra

7 points behind that mhob and little / no credible evidence to suggest a comeback. Unacceptable. Get rid! 🇬🇧

David Clapperton

Completely agree Gio has to go as does Wilson but we need to get the new DoF in first so he can pick his manager or else we get a “head coach” in that a new DoF might not fancy n it’s back to Mark Allan n Pedro all over again. This could take a fair amount of time here unless somebody has already been working on both in the background which I highly doubt.

Douglas Hannah

He shouldn’t be Rangers manager when bus arrives back in Glasgow, 6 months from a team buzzing reaching a European final, to this turgid dross. Douglas Park better act sharpish or he will be culpable too. Thought with some of the guys we brought in at boardroom level we would act professionally, this mob look like a bowling club clique.

Peter Hosie

January is only 8 weeks away so AM and RK can sign a pre contract then

Alan Stewart

This manager and his coaching staff must be removed before Wednesdays match or ibrox is going to be toxic. Man, it’s going to be toxic regardless but if GVB is in the dug out it will be hellish. Wilson needs to be removed ASAP as well. I have no confidence our board will act.

Peter Hosie

Robertson, Wilson and Gio need gone. Our captainship also needs a change

William Black

I’ve been banned off FF for less than half the comments on here. Sorry lads, it’s a closed shop now and I’m out.

Rona Bluebell

Just seen the Aston Villa result. Shows what change can do.

maccalsa

So we get rid of gio, we need to get rid of players who we will earn generate no income other than retained wages. How are we supposed to build a new team with a new manager with no money? Who is going to take that on challenge. Can't believe we have fallen behind that manky lot by miles again. I thought after we won the league it would be back to nip and tuck between us and then again, but no the 2 g9id seasons were the outlier we are a laughing stock again, but this time we don't appear to have the prime time appeal

Robert White

The board didn't want Gerrard to go. At the time ,getting Gio seemed a coup. Gio was handed a very fit team and 6 points clear in the league. It's been dreadful since, cup games aside. Since the players clearly don't want to play for him Gio has to go with our thanks for his efforts and cup success. It's not tragic, it's just good football business. I think we are close to fan disengagement which is shocking. Don't wait till world cup, act now, recruit over next month.

Neil Wilson

I think we are at the stage of a refresh. You never want to have to fire a manager, but this is probably the best time to do it with the World Cup window coming up next week. Get some players in for 1st January and move a few out. This summer we have something like ten players out of contract which should free up a lot of wages. Hindsight is an easy thing, but we should have moved guys Kent and Morelos a few years back when they had big value.

Rona Bluebell

I liked your original post. Like, folk on the team bus hinting about cheap flights to Amsterdam this time of year. 😀

Craig

Time for Gio and Wilson to go.

Andrew Whiteside

I am done with this group of players. They are an utter disgrace to the shirt and players that have gone before them. Every team in the leagues knows they don’t fancy playing a packed defence so that is what we get every game other than Celtic.

Michael Ellison

We’re a mess. Director of football, has been rotten. Management team, awful, turgid style of football. A squad full of underperforming shitebags, along with the usual injury prone handful and a few who are let’s face it, are done. As David said, this is going to take a few windows to get anywhere near sorting out.

David Innes

I’d be happy to keep Ridvan, Davies, Goldson, King, Lundstram, Laurence, Colak, McCann, Lowry, Hagi and Tillman. Probably Tav as well assuming injury is the reason for his current form

David Stewart

An attack that struggles to break down stubborn teams and a fragile defence that ships goals easily - deterioration since SG in both playing style and recruitment. Wilson is a busted flush and Gio looks out of ideas.

Carlos Apicella

Sad where do we get the £6million to pay him and his staff off worrying

John Davidson

Sadly, as I feared, the Aberdeen match said more about the sheep than it did about us.

Carlos Apicella

Thats it off FF Again people battering young King

David Kiltie

Another horrendous result and I think the point of no return for the manager. If you compare is with that lot, both sides have had horrendous Champions League campaigns. We are big enough to admit we were dire, whereas they try to spin a goal in the Bernabeu at 5-0 down as some sort of triumph. Yet their bad results don’t seem to have affected them domestically, whereas ours have very badly. A few caveats as we look for a replacement. It was this weekend last season that Gerrard managed us for the last time. Those who point out the difference in relative positions between this season and last should remember we were only 1 point better off after the same number of games. That lot were just about to get their act together. In terms of a caretaker bounce, when Aston Villa won their first game post Gerrard 4-0 that was trumpeted. Next week they lose 4-0 to Newcastle. Remember our one game last season between managers was the League Cup semi - an absolute calamity. Michael Beale’s name has been mentioned a great deal though he is not a realistic option. A few weeks ago QPR were top of the Championship- they have slumped to 5th in no time. Have estimations of him nosedived in the space of a fortnight? I can’t see us turning round a 7 point deficit so this season is looking like a bit of a write off, sad to say. I can live with that provided the club is proactive in trying to lay foundations for a brighter future.

Gordon Campbell

I take back everything I said about Ross Wilson and acquisitions earlier in the season. The whole lot have to go, and go now. It became unrecoverable weeks ago

Gordon Black

This squad, even with everybody fit and Gio in charge will lose every game against them. That says it all

David Baillie

There’s an old adage that teams reflect the manager’s character. That could be applied in our case. Gio seems to be a nice guy and constantly talks about respect. We show teams far too much respect. Can anyone tell me the last time they saw a Rangers player showing any real aggression or even just getting angry. For me it was Lundstrum smashing Hatate early in last season’s semi and setting the tone for the rest of the game. He even gave Bassey a bollocking for showing Hatate some sympathy. I can honestly say I have seen none of that this season. I have been saying for years that we need a couple of bastards in that midfield. Clever, cute football playing bastards. Centre backs should instil fear in the opposition. Ours are too soft. Big changes on the way. Find us a manager with a ruthless streak.

Stillsaw

Sick watching 5/6 losers in that side. Tav is never in a million years a rangers captain. Barry Ferguson would have strangled half that team already. Get rid of 95% of that squad

Bob MacCallum

We need a manager in before the WC break. That manager has to put FITNESS and mentality before ANYTHING else. Dyche might be that type of manager. He'd jump at the chance to manage a team always in Europe and in a 2 horse race.

Andy

Gio has got to go. Nobody has any faith in him and its evident on the park. The sooner the better.

Ian McManus

Hasn’t been given the financial backing. I find it remarkable that he hasn’t brought in a single Dutch player… but I don’t think that’s down to him. Yes the results are not good enough but a mixture of dreadful recruitment from above and the current injury crisis shouldn’t be overlooked either.

Bryan

Should have been gone months ago

Tom

As Half Man Half Biscuit sing The Light at the End of the Tunnel Is the Light of an Oncoming Train.

Gary Q

I tried to stick behind Gio because of what he (mostly) did as a player. And of course an unforgettable run to Seville. That was my view for a while but no player is playing for that management team. First pick, second pick, reserve pick or B Team squad player - not one from those groups of players is busting a gut for the manager or coaching staff. That’s the biggest signal to me. There’s no other end-game to this situation. He must go today.

Stuart Laidlaw

Is there a board meeting or is it crap

Keith Kettlewell

The boys mentioned it, they were giving away corners knowing it was better than a throw against. Shocking state to be in

Fraser Martin

Subs on 60, leaving King basically on his own against 2 strikers... that was Gio pawning the Rolex and putting the last of his goodwill on red. Less than a minute later its black, 2-0. Pedroesque.

Spoon

All fair comment and as a default defender of any manager I’m also done with this simply as regardless of all the factors at play the only realistic change is the manager. I hope he isn’t the only one who goes in the near future at a suitable juncture as we have a bunch of charlatans in there. Far too many satisfied with mediocrity. Sad to see a guy lost his job when dealt so many bad cards but it’s now to call time on it and try a new tac. Sakala getting praise, Hogg is right he’s terrible and making out he runs about aimlessly is a good thing is grasping. Headless chicken and indicative of the poor quality of player we have recruited. We have far too many players ‘good’ at one thing and not good to a good level across all the key elements of playing, add in Kent, Morelos, Arfield etc all players who have one good stat and the rest are crap unless it ‘on their day’. Absolutely time for a change but also fear board won’t rush to do it as it will highlight their own failures.

Conor Brown

I can see the board and Wilson holding fire to save the expense, even if Hearts pump us on Wednesday, we will wait until after the world cup (the perfect time to have some open-heart surgery) and bin him mid-January when there is literally no choice, probably after letting him sign some more mediocrity. This is the exact reason 'they' give their managers a rolling 1 year contract.

Luke

Talk about the board being reactive rather than proactive, they’ve waited for this team to completely capitulate and we are now seeing the results of it. He has to go, so does Wilson and half the team who clearly don’t want to fight for the shirt any more. Some of them put all of their fight in to that 55 season it seems.

Gregg

Sakala will never make a rangers winger - constantly running into folk, the amount of times he loses the ball playing simple passes is criminal. He’d do a job for a counter attacking side as a striker probably, the fact he’s seen as the best option at right wing is very telling of the quality of the others.

Greig Ward

The correct thing would be to act now and get a new boss in before the wc break and he’s then got time to work with the players and get us firing again. What will happen is fuck all and we’ll wait till we’re about 10 points behind going into the old firm game we’ll get beat again and then ibrox will go mental and they will have no option by which point no right minded manager is gonna touch the job so we’ll get another murty type appointment till the summer and they have to oversea the biggest rebuild since Gerrard first arrived and it will probably take us 2 years to be competitive again.

Greig Ward

Pretty much the same for me bar Tillman. He frustrates the life out of me. Obviously has talent and shows in in brief spells but should be head and shoulders ability wise above the dross he’s coming up against. To give him a slight break I realise he’s 19 and it’s hard to play at your peak every game and is probably the only reason we’ve got him in the first place.

Greig Ward

Correct the same as the people responsible for appointing Pedro should have been our the door after that fiasco but will probably have input into picking our next manager. Let’s be honest we only got Gerrard cause of Kings connections to Liverpool.

Spoon

Totally agree but it’s indicative of what the support have become used to, simple things like being a bit fast or running about a bit get praise when there are huge gaping skill holes in almost every player we have. I get that at our level we can’t afford guys who excel across all aspects of the game but surely we can expect a solid 7/10 across all elements and a bump in their specialism. We have guys as ‘hero’s’ these days who have done very very little to merit it like Kent, Morelos or Arfield for example played for any other team we would spot the huge flaws in their game and chuckle about how the home fans thought they were good….. lots in the support think these guys are stars ! Folk still after all the drama and discipline shite Morelos has gone through while being a top earner think he will ‘get back’ to his best. By now his good season is the blip and the shit show is the usual not the other way about. Somehow though we all are supposed to love him, he’s had far more from us than we have from him over the duration of his time here. Drastic rethink needed in recruitment and the definition of what we need from players.

Calum Downham

Spot on Hoggy, the buck stops with the chief executive and chairman

David Harrison

I thought we played well today. If our 2 efforts that hit the bar were a couple of inches lower, we’d have been delighted at todays result. Unfortunately we were undone by 2 fantastic strikes and couldn’t get the ball in the net enough times ourselves.

David Harrison

Evident on the park? Why did we do so well against Aberdeen and also today then? Cause today we did play well.

Dave McCann

Just now started listening and no, we are all on the same page now, just spent 3 hours in group chats and this is Bears all over the world i know saying the exact same thing…. And yes when like Ian said when you hear we still have them 3 times…. It’s over. Cheers for still coming on and grinding out shows after these games, pro as always gentlemen and we appreciate it.

G

The difference between Gerrard and Gio is that Gerrard was building a team to win 55 and was always going to have the odd slip up. Gio has taken a title winning team and completely ruined it.

Ian

Not convinced that sacking the manager is the answer. If there were 10 or 100 on this we would never agree on a replacement. Emotional knee jerk never works. We are in pain and want to lash out. Can he turn it around????? Can anyone??? I am going to give him till at least next old firm when he has better players back. I may be criticised for this but am entitled to my opinion. I Fucken love my team and will be there on Wednesday! If any of you have a magic wand please use it!!

Mark Harvey

There is no way binning Gio now can be described as knee jerk. After the 2 Celtic pumping of his time would be knee jerk. Since then we've been gubbed 6 times in Europe without a fight and dropped points to Livingston and St Johnstone.

CJT

Hate it, absolutely hate it but manager has to go now. Something has to change and the manager is the easy one. They know the score. Results matter, especially at Rsngers, and they just ain't good enough. Just hope it's done now. He doesn't deserve the shit he's going to get if thee is a delay. Being honest though don't know where we go then. This is the culmination of a foot off the gas attitude since 55. We now have a stale ageing group of players that need a proper gutting and a board not able or not willing to continue the previous investment levels. . As a result we don't have the resources to make the required squad changes and anyone who we'd target as manager knows it. Limping on with the current approach but a new man in charge would be an indictment of those currently at the helm. Unfortunately I think its what'll happen though and we'll be back here this time next year.

Ian

I get it Mark. We are drowning here I I feel the pain as most of us do, but you are not providing a solution.

Ian

i don’t expect you to as this is Fucken sore but sacking Gio is the easy solution, next phase is more challenging

David Campbell

I will always remember when Gerrard won us 55 he said we fix the roof whilst the sun is shining. I will be forever grateful to our current board for saving us from the crooks. However the complacency from the top of our club since 55 has been staggering. That lot across the road where a binfire and instead of kicking on improving us from a position of strength we got the deck chairs out. We now find ourselves 7pts behind a manager that nobody trusts a DOF that nobody trusts and 10players potentially leaving next summer. It's negligence of the highest order and someone needs to get a grip of this rudderless ship. Enough is enough Rangers

Craig

You just don't get games like that in seasons that end successfully. That sinking, suffocating feeling of inevitability that we all felt under Pedro, in McLeish's bad seasons, in Gerrard's post-Christmas collapses is back.

Ryan Stewart

My biggest worry is that this board give GVB the World Cup break to try and turn it around and then sack him after the Celtic game in January. Meaning we will have completely wasted the break and giving a new manager a chance to work with the players and plan the January window. Absolutely no confidence that this board will act quickly and decisively.

Callum Dinnen

People need to be careful about over-romanticising Gerrard when criticising Gio. Aimless side to side football, excessive crossing and struggling to break down low blocks was a feature of Gerrard's first 2 seasons at Rangers, this is nothing we haven't seen from this group of players before under 2 managers.

Alastair McGeoch

GVB similar to Ally - both just put the players on the pitch and expected them to be better than their opposition. Agree with everything said in the pod but also worry as a lot of people are that the board will give him until Celtic beat us at Ibrox to probably put us 15+ points behind

David Stewart

I agree. Who can forget Hibs at Hampden? Perhaps SG was more able to articulate what was going wrong, or at least appeared more passionate about it. Both failed to reverse the slide of a high-performing team, but I think SG got a better turn out of the ‘big’ players.
