You're right David, amongst all the rangers fans in my work the acceptance and apathy is already there we don't even talk about the games anymore , we're all just resigned to the fact this season is gone , and I don't see us winning any cups either not with this squad and management it's a complete mess

JM

I’d be amazed if that wasn’t reflected in a drop off in match day and merch spending - which the board will notice…

Gents Can I ask where this £4m pay off figure comes from? Normally a pay off isn't a one off cheque for the balance of the contract. It's a pay of a certain amount per week/month until re employment. If he gets another job and it's on £20k and his contract with Rangers is £25k then we should only be liable for the £5k Rangers ain't or shouldn't be paying £4m or whatever and then he walks into another management position. Surely

Martin Davies

I remember when we used to watch the WC and drool over potential new signing targets, or watch with interest as our current players faced up against the best the world has to offer. A sham of a decision to let this crowd host it, but its dark and cold outside, there are multiple games a day, the KO times aren't bad and we can enjoy the games without any emotional investment and without Rangers letting us down! Let the games commence!

Heart and Hand

Yes but you have to calculate it on what it could be. The manager in question could decide to take a year out etc.

Alan Cowan

Absolutely he could be unemployed for the length of his contract. But let's face it, even if it costs £4m, that's about 4 out of contract/ retired players from our bloated first team squad. It's not such a financial burden. Be better if he'd just leave.

Im not surprised there that there aren’t any podders (or listeners) who are still promoting a more measured approach on this. Regardless if you believe Gio should stay or go at this point if your not in the vocal regime change is the only option group your bombarded with indisputable ‘truths’ and a level of certainty about what will definitely happen that if you can convert it into bets should see many people become rich. I think even those who don’t necessarily think it’s all on him are still not happy with every aspect of his management. For me there are lots of components to this situation, there are however also a number of ways out and people stating that to think anything other than him going will definitely result in failure is no more valid than saying he will turn it around if he can change some of the factors he hasn’t managed to so far. Nobody can categorically say either way but that is what people are doing. Genuine question not intended to offend or provoke but simply are H&H now (consciously or just by default) on the Gio out train with the current affairs pods ? Will every daily update just be like zero dark thirty where a poster changes the number of days since Gio hasn’t been sacked and then tell us why he has to go ? It may not be the intent but it’s been quite noticeable and seems to be less objective week on week. I don’t know if it’s just me but I very much liked the scope of views and the professional impartial way updates were chaired where it was about news, a bit of comment or flavour but generally left to the individual to decide which conclusion to draw. Lately, and I get the podders are people with their own views and are there to express them, it seems to have got a bit binary in terms of content and it’s a bit wearing. Plus if your not of the prevailing view it’s never nice to be made out to be a daftie! I’m not suggesting you have to make a happy clappy pod or balance it out with fake positivity but since the beginning H&H for me was about being cheered up and finding positives when things were much more bleak than they are now even if that was only a cock joke or a story from some far flung part of the world whose football was worse than our shit show. IF the board are of no mind to act I don’t think I can listen to a month of podders scoffing at those who might feel that if the squad and injuries subside and we get s bit of luck and a reset anything’s possible (I won’t get into the probable) if football was all predestined then we could predict every game before kick off and seasons before a ball was kicked. H&H content is the highlight of my day, I look forward to my favourite pods specifically the tactics stuff, the preview, the flagship / extra and Update but if your not of a mind to grab a pitchfork and spark up a torch (regardless of wether it’s justified!) there’s not a lot to get into. Sorry if this seems like a dig David it’s not meant to be, your content is always honest and you can hear the passion from all. I very much get the frustration of all and we all just want it sorted regardless of individual opinion on how that happens. Just personally speaking it’s sometime a bit relentless and it’s like we’re egging each other on to be more bleak. Keep up the good work though and if I’m a lone voice of nonsense just ignore me👍🏻

Tough but accurate listen. good points lads and a fair and measured pod. It's a team who are failing at everything and a manager who is getting worse. Beyond losing the league in October/November the whole joy of watching Rangers has been taken away by Gio. Meek and boring.

I think the pros and cons have been debated to death. I think Gio has had the worst run of luck with injuries that if they did actually get to train would have had an impact on any work the did on the training pitch and with the run of games it would have been difficult to change anything. From the accounts we can see the money was not available to bring in the quality we needed. Really it is a series of events that have all gone against us Just as events conspired to get us to a euro final last year. My main question is would a new manager want to come in and have his reputation tarnished by this squad? If it was me I would be saying I will start at the beginning of next year.

Ironically, the longer this drags on over the week, the more I suspect he will be go. The Board (having learned the lessons Bennett referred to in his last interview) could have come out at weekend and said “he’s still our guy” - stops media cycle and debate in its tracks; gives maximum time for fans to get used to idea before AGM (well…). For them to leave it quiet shows either they think he’s not under pressure at all so don’t need to say anything or that they are future planning his exit. Just my two cents worth as inevitably proved wrong im a few weeks when we are listening to how Gio got the tactics wrong on 2nd Jan …

Given that Kent is in the last year of his contract and let's be honest 18 months and under players are usually sitting tight for a bosman has he done enough for a new contract ? Given players that are 26ish are wanting usually vastly improved terms is he actually worth it ? Was it on the St Mirren preview show that Steven said lock him in a room till he signs a new contract Well given he'll want improved terms regardless if he has 3 men on him at times and never hides only 1 Premier League goal for 11 calendar months from an attacker just isn't good enough , like David says if we only need to care about being 1 point ahead of them do we judge our wide attackers on other wide attackers within the league ? Stats are only stats regardless if they say a certain player creates most chances the only stat that actually means anything for an attacker is goals & I'd say he hasn't done enough that would warrant that improved contract ......

Apathy is about as bad as it can get in a support. I was at Ibrox through the early 80s and it was rife in the support then, evidenced by crowds often around the 10k mark. We're not at that yet but the very fact the way we're playing is bringing memories of those times back for me is worrying. I'm stumped at how we get out of this mess too as GvB is only part of the problem. Not many of those players will raise the funds needed to generate the replacements required and it just looks like the proverbial vicious circle. Not building on 55 when we were miles ahead of them was criminal and we're paying for it now.

Hi I know what you mean..I am the most optimistic fan you could find..if we win I celebrate it..if we lose I am disappointed but always think we can't win all the time if we did how boring would that be ..but this for my first time feels so different..I sit at Ibrox and don't feel excited but would never boo them..I look at where we are..just coming back from a european final.still in cup draws reached the table section of the Euro champion league if you showed me this at the beginning season I would have snatched your hand off..so why do I feel so down..its the way we are playing just now..it is so utterly boring and the players look down too..so something has to change but no one is coming forward to do this or say this is what we are going to do...so all the heart and hand team are doing is reporting how we all see it...hopefully like you I look forward to seeing better times soon but don't hold my breath.

Started watching in the 80s and seen much worse than this when things were optimal! The point is we aren’t all feeling this and there are many uncomfortable with the impact of the ‘only feasible’ change and potential to start a cycle of ripping up the plan every time a new guy comes in.

New drinking game, every time Ross says body of evidence- have a shot

Ross Hutton

There's a large body of evidence to suggest you'll get drunk quite quickly doing this 😁

Lads this is obviously a transitional season. This is the season that we are transitioning from being a successful, well run club to being an utter shit show on and off the park.
