Had to check the time there…early AF 💙

Heart and Hand

Had half it recorded with Andy before 9 so thought might as well stick it out when it was done!

Simon

Hope I’m wrong but I don’t think Beale is the right choice or will win a title. I think what is lacking is a strong leader in the dressing room not a tactical guru . My hope is for Dyche who I think can give the players belief.

Ross Whitehead

I'm not that keen on Beale taking over. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I don't think it would be the right choice.

Brian Rae

IMO, this will be a massive mistake. Lazy and predictable choice but that sums up the decision makers at the club. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong and he turns out to be a great appointment.

Laura McCrimmon

I like Beale and think in future might be a good choice but for now I have major reservations if he is appointed not my No1 choice...but hey I was in the minority who wanted gio given more time so what do I know.

aldo adens

Few points first one last year when gio got appointed why was beale not considerd for job then, so one year later and only being a manager for 21 games now makes him ready to be our manager. For me looks more like when he is appointed it will appease the players in the squad who worked under him while he was first team coach, could some of the senior players have spoke to wilson and some board members to let them know how much they would want him in? I dont have a great feeling about him taking over i hope i am proved wrong. Second point could DK be using these statements in the press to try and get even more pressure on the board from fans as a way for him to get the chairmanship back. Also with him mentoning the investment from the american business woman and he has spoken to her could that also be a other reason he is putting the statements out as he has realiesd club1872 will never get the money to purchase his shares and if the american can find someone to buy shares selling them as the chairman of rangers would generate more financial value for him in my opinion.

John Smith

Whether you agree with Dave King or not, he is absolutely stating things a lot of us suspect. Action needs taken urgently at board level in my view

Gregg

Putting the pod out early so you can piss about watching the football - what if stuff happens - we need to know 😂

James Curran

I find Dave King tedious. The whole purpose of his Q&A yesterday was nothing more than a recruitment drive for Club1872 in a hope that more members will lead to more of his shares being purchased. The sooner he's got his money the better, we don't need this public mud slinging and his behavior is very unbecoming of a previous Rangers director. As soon as he starts to big up unknown American investors such as Kyle Fox, In my opinion, he's no longer interested in Rangers but just getting his money back.

Trevor Clark

Daily update out early to make room for breaking news podcast later today!

Ah well Bealeball it is then. I had hoped for something resembling innovation and imagination coming out of Ibrox. Suppose that would require us locating someone with a bastarding spine. Looking forward to hearing us all moaning like fuck about aimless crosses into the box after failing to break down 2 banks of 5. Like we have done for the past 4 seasons. It'll be like old times. At least we won't collapse after this winter break, small mercies. Hope to fuck I'm wrong, but we know what he's working with and we know he's often come a cropper during his previous stint at the club. Meh.

Martin Boyd

I wish King would just hold his tongue the club have paid a very high price for mistakes he made as chairman re Ashley and price fixing. As for Beale seems like an easy option would have preferred Bakhar ( sp) but I doubt the support would have put up with a year or two building a team and philosophy to win.

Gregg

Spot on James - he could frame his issues a lot more constructively. Comes across as playing to the galleries - without giving any details.

Alan Mitchell

It’s absolutely got to be Duncan Ferguson.

Andrew Hillis

FFS - How the hell did we get into this mess! We were a penalty shoot out away from European success back in May! If true the managerial appointment would be a massive gamble - yet again no proven track record! I hope to hell he is the next big thing! Genuinely no confidence that this is the Board or Manager to take us forward! Desperately hope I am proven wrong.

Angus Mackay

I thought that Beale making a very public visit when Gio was fighting for his job wasn't a good look for either him or the club. It looks considerably worse for both parties now. If that is the appointment and it goes south, then Wilson's position becomes untenable for me (and I say that as someone who believes in the DoF model and its inherent stability). Also, the idea that we have to be always on top is completely unrealistic in our position as, for the time being at least, the weaker financial party in the O/F equation. The selling club model means that we'll suffer serious dips; if we can't get our heads around that we're going to throw away an awful lot of money sacking managers. Colin spoke the other day about how few managers we've had in the last 150 years and that is true, but at the rate we're going half of them will be in the last decade.

Paul

I just can't get excited about Beale

James Curran

Thanks, Gregg. I'm not saying Park & the board are perfect but neither was King when he led the club. If King has real concerns come out and tell us in detail. He wasn't shy in coming forward when he got into the trenches with Ashley & the Easdales.

CJT

Thanks, David/Andy. You said at the start of the World Cup Rangers wouldn't be ruining my weekends for a few weeks. We'll that went well 🙂. If Beale''s the best option, things are a lot worse than I thought. Need to get on with it now and support the guy. There is certainly potentiall. No doubt a gamble though. Hope our patience levels increase dramatically, or the madness of the last few weeks will be upon us again soon. Never be anything other than grateful to King for his efforts to rescue us from the spivs, but really wish he'd do his business in private.

Angus Mackay

The chat around this for the past few months has been brutal. It's like people have entirely forgotten the endless hours that people spent moaning about the rigid patterns and lack of a plan B while Beale was coach. The same lack of innovation featured large in Europe where we let several good opportunities pass because of the lack of tactical flexibility.

Ronnie Gallacher

Beale not for me, surely there are better, more qualified candidates than this? We need to remember it was his football philosophy and style that was unable to breakdown the low block and won 1 out of 12 available competitions. His work at Villa and QPR has not set the world alight. Massive gamble if the board selects him and any failure should also see the end of Ross Wilson’s time at our club!!

Sgems90

Michael Beale gave us a style of play that won us 1 league title and zero cups. Its a no from me.

Rod

Guttuso money or they can GTF for buying Kamara. 🙂

KennyY

I know that we are 9 points behind but I'm hoping that we get that new manager bounce whoever is appointed. The players have been given 2 weeks off and should be coming back refreshed and ready to impress under a new regime. That's our winter break over after the world Cup and we can build some serious momentum and win our games. They haven't had a break and travelled half way across the world playing meaningless friendlies in empty stadiums. They will burn out so we must hit the ground running and put the pressure on. Forever the optimist but we are Rangers and second place isn't good enough.

Steve Clark

Dave Kings comments about David Graham were uncalled for.he basically just trotted our the daily record line that he was sectarian because he is a member of the OO/dup and he once said “no surrender” in a speech to Rangers supporters in Belfast.

Gregor Anderson

Ooft should look into some of the prize money in e-sports (not NFT's or crypto and shite like that) It might surprise you but some of these e-sports teams and players will win more prize money than we do in the SPFL. It is pretty big. Not sure how we as a club get involved but I imagine it would be some sort of team using our name and branding.

Heart and Hand

Not denying that and a good avenue to investigate but not as a central basis for projected earnings to investors.

Robert White

I see the msm are timing some stories release after the daily update...

CRAIG CASSELLS

Just cannot get excited by the tought of Beale being manager. It would be nothing other than an easy and lazy option by the board. We need a complete break from all that has happened football-wise at the club since May 2018, we need a manager who will gut this tired squad and introduce exciting football. Beale is a good guy, just like Gio is a good guy but for some reason both fail to have me eager to see them inhabit the Ibrox hot seat.

Richard Baird

I think Beale would be a bigger risk than appointing Stevie G. I have doubts about Michael Beale’s ability to attract the quality of players we need to bring in.

Richard Baird

We made a mistake not backing Stevie G. We should have strengthened on the back of 55. Look at the other side of the city they have already announced a January window signing. This makes the managerial appointment crucial.

CRAIG CASSELLS

Still think SG would have headed south as soon as an attractive offer from EPL was received.

keith wright

Any truth in the Lawrence rumours?

James McConnachie

Rangers don’t do “relative success”. We do success. If we want to move beyond wealthy individuals get more punters through the door.

Colin Mathie

I take it the Tom Lawrence news broke after the update?

Andy McGowan

If only it was that easy. What do you define as "success" (it could be the exact same as my definition of relative success) and if it is the same as we've had in the past and it hasn't brought more punters through the door to move the dial financially, why would it do it now?

Harold mccartney

Agree 100%! A guy with a 40% win rate with QPR and hasn’t won in 5 games is not the sort of appointment to get excited about in my opinion

Heart and Hand

Spoke to club there, they say Lawrence has not suffered a setback.

Andrew Whiteside

What I don’t like is that we are making this decision not on our terms. I am sure Beale is a good coach but listening to Kevin Thomson last night he nailed it that it takes a special personality to be the manager of Rangers and not sure Mr Beale has it.

ian laird

souness the superstar walter in the background doing it all, gerrard the superstar beale doing it all. here’s hoping

David Kiltie

Well done, David and Andy, on an interesting pod. The idea of Beale as the next manager sums up the crossroads the club is facing. Beale might well get a better response than Gio did from many of the players who were here under Gerrard. On the other hand, if we need to accept that we are in a period of transition and in need of a major rebuild would perhaps a manager with no prior connection with the club be the more appropriate choice?

Allan Osborne

If being "relatively successful" is all Rangers can now aspire to we may as well have stuck with Gio, because a Scottish Cup and a European final is hardly shameful (he did have to go though!). Like it or lump it Rangers supporters will not accept a title once every 4 or 5 years with a couple of cups. If that's all we're aiming for we'll be changing managers every couple of seasons. It's all a bit depressing, what with King v the board, Elite, injuries that never seem to clear and a team whose value decreases at an alarming rate. And I'm worried that it's the heart ruling the head with Beale. A lot of the problems we have with breaking teams down were there when he was next to SG. I just hope my concerns are unjustified but I am worried, no doubt about it.

KMc

We need a strong leader in a manager. I just don’t see that in Beale unfortunately.

Angus Mackay

A couple of years ago I seriously thought the guy deserved a statue for his role in saving the club, but he's sullied that standing a lot since he left. His politicing is very crude and unbecoming of a former chairman.

Alan Mitchell

I’d love to see the look on some underperforming faces as they approached the tunnel having just been turned over by Livingston, St Mirren, St Johnstone etc. Fear instead of resignation. I would also suggest Graham Robert’s and Terry B for the coaching staff and Souness on the sponge. That would keep the lazy fuckers on their feet.
