Rangers have been given permission by QPR to speak to Michael Beale about the Manager role at Ibrox.

The deal is not completed but all sides expect it to happen. Barring any last-minute issues he should be in place early next week.

Craig Scott

That will be that then 👍👍

Simon

Potential to finish with over 100 points. The league is still there to be won

Aatlis

Is it just me that feels a bit underwhelmed?

Billy Poole

The fans and the board need to back him 100%. I think he will be a success 👍

Brian Imrie

I doubt we have the money to appoint someone who would completely satisfy everyone

Jim Reid

Any appointment is a risk , he wasn't my first choice but we must back him . More importantly the board have to back him as much as possible

Richard McLuckie

For me, there's lots of fans that just want an abstract name who plays an obscure formation because its cool. Am I sold on Beale, I'm not sure but I'm also not unhappy that he's coming back

Jim Sheen

I think he’s the best candidate to get the best out of our current crop of players, he’s done it before

Ross Whitehead

Beale would have been perfect to take over from Gerrard. Now I'm not so sure. I hope he can prove me wrong.

Samuel Campbell

Wouldn't have been my choice but looks like he is going to get it so time to get behind him

Scott

We have loads of fans moaning, saying it’s the cheapest option (not sure how they figured that out) but if not Michael Beale who and why them? Interesting question would be who is his number two?

Mr J K Murray

press announcements, before our club attains, are like a dagger that cannot be drawn out of the stomick of an overt fat person, and hence the dirt cannot come out,due to der layers of fat, hic, looks like its happening, like all, have reservations but could be a good fit,

James Barrie

David you said a rangers manager needs to have an aura about them (souness smith gerrard ) and I agree with you. Do you feel Beale has this? I don’t which is what concerns me, he’s a great coach so time will tell but I do have early concerns which is never good

Alan McKellar

Not just you. I hope it's just my current level of pessimism surrounding the current state of the club.

Scott

Definitely not having a go mate it’s a honest question, who would have been your choice and why?

James Mcgill

I'm sure he will get us fitter and faster. Play a bit more direct. What we've all been shouting for. So will get behind him.

Samuel Campbell

It's hard to say when I don't know who all is available or who applied etc but this just feels like they have gone for the easiest one. Fair enough I don't know what has gone on behind the scenes and maybe there were discussions with others so maybe saying he wouldn't be my choice is the wrong way to look at it more it's a bit underwhelming but I'd have liked someone with more experience but yeah maybe those choices weren't there

Big Ian

I'm not watching the bitch sniping on Social Media, David's right, the board have to get this one right, or there's nowhere for them to hide.

William Cunningham

I was never that happy about Gio, but I still supported him 100% when he arrived. He was a nice guy and gave me a night I will always remember and for that I am grateful but I am a lot happier about this appointment. Providing it happens.

Sgems90

Michael Beale, for me gives of similar vibes as Super Ally. Great coach and person to have around the training field and dressing room but lacks the persona to be a no1 and guy in charge. Hopefully I’m proven to be wrong but I just don’t see how his style of fitbaw which was dross near the end of the Gerrard and Beale reign, gets the better of them.

David Clapperton

I have big concerns that it’s a total refresh that’s needed and going back to the guy that was instrumental in starting this cycle 4/5 years ago doesn’t seem to be the way to do it. Also, his management CV is nowhere near the level we would ordinarily even consider. However I like him as a guy and he’s a 1st class coach. There’s no doubt he’s the man they’ve wanted (although not last year for whatever reason) and he gets my 100% backing. It’s going to be very interesting. End on the day, just win. Nobody gives 2 f*#ks about anything else. ♥️🤍💙

Gregg

Pleased that we appear to be making an appointment - don’t think there was anyone listed that ticks all the boxes, pleased with Beale. Hopefully gets a strong back room staff - be interested to see if any of Gerard’s staff come with. Fitness coach and set piece dude would be good

Gordon Mac

Hope for the best, he has a big task in front of him

John Smith

Hope he gets in Rangers men for the coaching team

Aatlis

Time will tell, I suppose. I'll do my best to get behind him obviously but just feel like it's a bit uninspired.

John Davidson

Regardless of how we feel, this is not the cheap option. The cheap option would have been to keep Gio. Sacking him and recruiting Beale will cost almost £5m in total.

Brian Rae

My fear is that we'll be doing this same process next year. I really hope Michael Beale proves me wrong. Will he show loyalty to this group of players? That will probably shape his Rangers career as many of them would get Pep the sack.

Rod

We always go British after a foreign manager so this is no surprise. Advocaat > Eck PLG > Walter Pedro > Gerrard Gio > Beale

Jock Spiers

He knows the club and he'll know that every dropped point is a disaster! I'd put my mortgage on him having watched all our games this season and he must be confident that he can fix it. Fuck it... I'm onboard with this 😁🔴⚪🔵

Scott Tolmie

No issues with Beale but Thomson isn’t for me

David Innes

Any other possible appointment in our price range would be a gamble. He knows what it takes to be successful at Rangers - that’s a big plus for me. The fact that he knows the squad should be good in the short term but of the senior players he has worked with I think only Tav, Goldson, Lundstram, Hagi and Kent (if he wants to stay) should have a long term future at the club. If he is to succeed he needs serious backing from the board.

stefan strzelecki

I think his record as a coach speak volumes. I suspect the success he will bring to our club will be long lasting. I doubt he will exit stage left when the corporate vultures appear again. He is best placed to recognise the deficiencies within this squad. He will place demands on this board that supporters will respect. He has a professional grievance with Celtic that will be infectious around every aspect of our club. I back this appointment 100% .

Conor Brown

Possibly the best appointment we could make in our current position but still quite uneasy about it. I think he will be able to get more out of this current crop of players (Jack, Barasic, Kent, Tav & co), However that really wouldn't have been high up on my list as we all agree that this current crop of players have run their course at Ibrox and need replaced ASAP. Hate mid-season appointments, Will need to avoid a scudding by the filth in potentially 5 OF games and do well in the cups or will be under fire early next season.

David McCallum

Big risk appointment but we know what we are getting.

Rob Whiteford

I’m very excited about this. He’s a proper intelligent modern coach. How many other potential rangers managers are knocking back premier league jobs? Funny how a couple of weeks ago he was out of out league after the wolves approach but now he isn’t as good as folk we know next to nothing about . I’m on the Beale bus!

Ivan Toombs

Big job ahead of him let's hope he is able to get the best out of the current players..!

CJT

If Beale is the new gaffer, so be it. The important thing is we buy in. Board, fans, and players. You don't need to look too far to see what can happen if we do. Just hope at some point we're in a position where the balance of probability is in our favour. Smith the second time around, is probably the last time i remember that. Every player or manager is a risk, but some are greater than others. We just seem to bave been appointing in hope rather than expectation for the last 11 years. Anyway, onwards and upwards, fate willing.

Rona Bluebell

He knows how to beat them. Starts and finishes there with me. We go again.

John Palmer

It was inevitable that he was going to be our next Gaffer after GIO. He's got 3 weeks to get them fit and Ready for his Baptism of Fire as we have some difficult fixtures as soon as the League business returns.

maccalsa

Beale is a great coach, but he has no gravitas either as a player or a manager, which means he can be spun by the current board whatever way they want. Raging about the mess we are in. My dad had a bad moment in 2013 and he said to me he never thought he would see us win the league again. My dad is still fighting on and he did see another league, and another euro final. But fuck me how as a club have we fallen so badly in 12 -18 months? What boils my nuts is Celtic can fall of the planet and you think, right our time to shine, and 1-2 seasons later they have reinvented themselves and are top dogs again. It's luck or infastructure.... but fuck me I want some of that but better Sorry raging.... wife was probably right, go to bed, don't drink another bottle of wine lol

Graeme McLeod

You need to earn the benefit of the doubt, and this board - and Ross Wilson - have lost that for me. And Beale doesn't have it. He's a rookie manager, currently going through a losing streak, and part of the old management team whose success tends to be romanticised. Michael Beale is the very definition of appointing based on hope. He's got no track record as a manager, and the management team he was part of oversaw two post-Christmas collapses. They were also faltering last season at the time of jumping ship weeks before a cup semifinal. Our poor start last season was masked by just how bad Celtic's start was.

CJT

Don't disagree with any of that. We should have been out of sight by December last year. Partly down to players' attitude post 55 and IMO influenced by a management team planning an exit (potentially influenced by board inaction to refresh the squad). None of that will change that Beale will be the new manager though. At that point, hope is all we've got.

Luke

Realistically we won't be competing for the league again for another 3 or so years. The board have absolutely fucked us with multiple decisions in several transfer windows. If Beale is the man to take us forward, he is going to have to be given time and financial backing; I'm not confident of him receiving either in the club's current state.
