Kinda smirked though when i seen this come through ahead of the MB news…..i can tangibly sense how pissed you are at holding off and holding off all day!!! 🫠

Colin Mathie

Giving him a 3yr deal is a disgrace btw.

aldo adens

People should go watch rangers review video when they spoke to qpr fan regarding the set piece specialist what he says regarding that is intresting.

Graham McCallum

David do you think the set piece coach will put players on the posts at corners? 😊

LD

No private jet flight watch is disappointing

Colin Mathie

First thing i hope he does is ban Tav from all set pieces.

Jamie Gilchrist

Yeah, its strange….its made me get the sense that Ton Culshaw is a “Gerrard man”…..youve got to assume he asked him to return!!!

aldo adens

Wont ban tav when he was part of the managment structure before tav was the set piece guy on 95% of corners , free kicks from the right hand side.

James McConnachie

I’m getting carried along in a meh tsunami tbh. Bealeball was barely successful domestically and Gio’s style was a haphazard development from it. I’d have hoped for something else that didn’t employ ‘false 10s’ or any other pish system that a basic Scottish team can counteract. The big thing about this team in the last 5 years is lack of character when it really really counted. Character fills trophy cabinets not systems.

Ryan Stewart

It works both ways though. We got £5M for Gerrard when he left because he had a longer term contract. Also, if you are offering 1 year deals managers and agents just aren’t going to come. Contracts are a two way street.

Spoon

For the record I hope I am proved totally wrong. The Beale appointment just doesn’t inspire me at all, I can't genuinely get excited about the Charlton scout and a guy from Arsenals under 19s when we have just chased the head of Ajax Youth, a world class coach and Striker plus a manager who got about 6 games grace in the worst set of events since Count Olaf was put in charge of those kids. I get that previous success is no guarantee of future achievement but it's a starter for 10 and I can't say I think we have upgraded, especially when you recall some real turgid stuff with the SG dream team in place. The one coach that I could have got excited about was a fitness guy as I do believe that is an area that’s dipped but I suspect that given Goldson gets onto plenty of corners, or did when fit, but can't convert them the problem is less with the ball coming in than the people who are trying to meet it. I will get up for it when they arrive, but we are now understanding the new regime needs time, funds and backing to get it right when the last regime were given very little? I’m finding it hard to process. All of the things that were being discussed in terms of what type of person the next manager needs to be seem to have been binned for the shiny Beale 2.0 which now has improved set pieces. I’m just not drinking the kool aid yet and I’m kind of sorry as this is meant to be one of the best times at a football club, when despair turns to hope and fortunes change, just not feeling it at all, in fact I believed in Pedro more than this. The biggest worry is that even if Beale does get a chance, navigates the squad issues, gets some backing in terms of players, lifts the curse that has been put on us in terms of injuries and makes the lame walk again from the treatment tables if he loss a few games it's all up in the air again? Can he succeed, possibly but if anyone genuinely thinks that the starting position this new team Vs the Gio team is better I would like to see the workings, it's blind faith based on the 55 season and who we perceive to be the biggest factor in it. What it's not based on is a huge body of evidence or even recent QPR form. Sorry for being a downer, I know David was clear and at pains to point out this isn’t a universally loved appointment where others make out that it is fate but it does seem there is a lot of revisionism and most importantly faith being projected where the previous regime got none. I would also observe that if the extent of our ambition was out of work Big Sean Dyche etc then it doesn’t say much for our Technical / Sporting / Director of Football who is meant to have plan B and C sitting ready to go as required. Again sorry for the negativity, it's not I dislike Beale at all and I hope that he smashes it, we smash it, but I can't shake the idea we are not just being run to a populist plan more than a strategy, hard to see what changes when the accounts show very little wiggle room for transfers or wages and the squad quality is so low. Fear is same players, same cliques, same flaws, same results when they have shown that they don’t listen to a manager and they can empty him I’m not sure this lot have the minerals to self-reflect and improve. As someone said on a pod or in the comments this lot would get Pep sacked.

Graeme McLeod

I agre with you, though we never really got to see Gio's style. He inherited Gerrard's squad and continued on with the style Beale implemented. The two holding midfielders at home, giving domestic dross too much respect and being devoid of ideas other than crossing into the box? All present under Beale. These are his players, still playing his system with minor tweaks. Gio clearly didn't get to bring in his own players or make any substantial changes I've seen some who slated our play under Gio getting excited about this appointment as if we played like Ronaldo era Brazil before Gio.

Barrie Leith

Tip of the cap for the Dream Team reference 😂

Angus Mackay

Given the number of people freaking out before the guy has even got started, he's really going to have his work cut out for him. Our support seems very fragile these days.

Gregg

Totally - in theory the club would want the most flexibility. Guy moving his family may want more security. You may also have to pay more if on a rolling contract.

Gregg

Exactly - no one seems to have any better suggestions. Raging for the sake of it half the time. Hopefully we’ll all be happy singing Jingle Beales soon enough.

Graham Jones

In other words, Sean Dyche had a meeting with the Rangers board, and they weren’t impressed. He saw us as a chance to rehabilitate his reputation, a bit like Rodgers did over at the piggery.

Gregg

Long read that - don’t believe the Pedro part - would not read again 😂. Let’s try and cheer up a bit

Spoon

Not my point the point was we shipped out folk with as good if not better pedigrees after limited tolerance to appoint someone who is being promoted on faith and selective memory in my own opinion.

Spoon

It’s fine opinions are like that, not for everyone and especially difficult when they don’t align.

karina gunn

Just to say glasgow city beat celtic in their match they already played hence why city are now two points ahead of us. We've got the split this year for the first time so it's a new challenge

Spoon

Sounds more like it was the other way round, suppose we will see the ambition when the window lets us state our intent.

Gregg

Agree Gio and his coaching team had more pedigree and were a lot sexier. It simply wasn’t working out and wasn’t going to.

Spoon

Again one of those opinions, respect yours but don’t agree. Beale is a success means Rangers are a success which is all good what I don’t agree with is the working that people came up with that meant the only solution was sacking the previous regime. What I am saying is if we adopt the same criteria without changing the factors that led to the result we will get the same result. If we judge things differently, why ? The idea that the new thing is automatically better than the old just doesn’t excite me I would rather have problem solved. It’s not an opinion that been popular amongst the folk on the forums for months I understand that and that’s fine, I don’t them to convert but I similarly would need some convincing to change my mind. And I did support Pedro to the death! rightly or wrongly the way he was portrayed in the media didn’t sit well with me and I desperately wanted him to succeed but even I had to draw the line by the end, I just was miles from that line with Gio. I am happy to take your position as totally valid but reserve the right to hold my own👍🏻

Stewart Campbell

I do agree with parts of your comments, the football under Gerrard and Beale wasn’t always great and was very poor towards the end. Hope it works out though of course. Can’t see millions being provided for transfers though so basically working with a team of underachievers.

Spoon

It’s one man’s opinion, certainly no more valid than any other or with any great insight, I just get a real sense of bamboozlement from the many comments about how he needs investment and time when the last guy got very little of either and a year down the line I can’t think the support are now suddenly more patient. All the comments are the ones the previous regime got then didn’t get backed. This isn’t about defending Gio it’s more about the endemic problem with the squad, financial reality and our options. For me personally year on year change isn’t just unsustainable it’s actually damaging. Thanks for agreeing with bits of what I said, was that just the adjectives?!

Robert Ryan

Maybe just my phone reminding me it needs upgraded but felt the volume was a bit low tonight on it. Pretty decent on my PC.

Graham johnston

Dyche was on 70k a week apparently at Burnley. He's a great coach in my view and can play attacking football when needed. However we aren't paying that type of money to anyone. That could buy us 3 top players on what we pay in Scotland

Ryan Macdonald

David can I get an address to send you an abacus for Christmas to help with your counting skills mate?

Graham johnston

On the heading issue I would miss it too but I feel that it's heading for a complete ban. Football will survive without heading anyway. I've played plenty of football when I was younger when u couldn't hit it over head height and even now as an oldie I play 5 a side and we can't hit it over head height. Never taken the enjoyment away for me. It's not just professionals who will get these illness but also many in the grassroots that I played in and we won't have any funds or testimonials to pay for the potential injuries we suffered. For that reason I'd support any ban on heading. No point pussy footing around it.

Bob Keith

Both were confidently wrong about the amount of times we play each team as well. Happens a lot when discussing the womens team.

Ross Matheson

I'm assuming it's not great Aldo? Saw someone mention that if you watched QPR their defence of set pieces is about as bad as ours.
