Rangers Confirm Michael Beale as Manager

MICHAEL Beale is the 18th manager of Rangers with the club delighted to confirm his appointment today. Signing a contract to 2026, the 42 year-old joins from his role as manager of Queens' Park Rangers in West London having previously worked as first-team coach at Ibrox from 2018 to last November.

Boner Alert 🥳🥳🥳

Alan Mitchell

Good luck Mick 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Steven L

Fantastic appointment.

Chris Pryde

Can we please drop all this Mick nonsense. We as a club have class so his name is Michael or Mr Beale

Tom

Just do your absolute best Michael, that is all we ask!

Billy Poole

As long as the board back him and give him what he needs on the pitch he will be a success 👍

Paul Kerr

Hopefully the right man for the job and as the first choice hopefully he gets the full backing of the board to make the necessary changes.

Dave Finnie

Interesting comment from Park in there about backing Him and Ross Wilson. He has to. Absolutely has to.

Gordon Millar

Let's get behind our new manager and his backroom team and heal divide in opinion with regards to our previous manager. If we can do this as a support, our message to our board is to do the same(sensibly) to revamp this squad and energise Ibrox again 💙🇬🇧

Steve Clark

Is it a gamble of course it is,every manager appointed is a gamble.lets get behind him.agree or disagree with the appointment but he’s now the 18th manager of Rangers so lest get behind him

Douglas Hannah

Best wishes Mick, board need back him to the hilt

Scott McDougall

Big call from the board in my opinion, I’ll be 100% behind him and really hope he is a success

Samuel Campbell

I said previously I think it's an underwhelming appointment but I hope he proves me very wrong. Good luck Mick

Simon Botterill

Big gamble all round but his hunger and his reputational risk combined with his clear skill set gives me confidence. He will need time, lots of mistakes will be made but there must be a change in attitude on and off the pitch. He strikes me as an individual who can see that. I want KT in somewhere too, a Rangers man who learnt from the greatest should be involved again.

Gregg

Good it’s done - be interested to see who the other appointments are in coming days - onwards and hopefully upwards.

Graham Jones

A good appointment, and now the board need to stop pissing about and back him. Underinvestment has seen us regress, and the club needs to start moving forward again. Players will improve again under Beale, but there are deficiencies in the squad still, and he has to be given money and time. If he isn’t then we’re going round in circles. His first job will be getting them fit, because the players have been blowing out their arses after half an hour in games.

Russ

All I'm after for the rest of the season is positive football and a cup/cups. If we can see it coming at the end of May then I'd be delighted. Good luck Mick.

Craig Hart

Very telling appointment reflecting where we are (or more importantly where we aren't). Severe lack of vision and leadership from this board. Good luck, Michael Beale. I wish you every success in the face of an almighty task.

Graham johnston

I'm happy with that. Not without risk but in our poistion we can't go and get the very top managers. What we have is potential and hopefully he goes on to reach his potential here.

Shevy Kapoor

Delighted. The apathy that had set in had to be addressed. Massive jan and summer window for Wilson to give Beale the tools for the job.

Piggott

It will be a good Xmas at the Thorntons, Adam's book will be flying off the shelves

George Cook

Welcome back Mick, can ye play centre hof

KMc

When’s Thomson getting announced, David!?

Brian Moore

New era, we are due some good fortune. ❤️🤍💙

Dougie

David said he’s been really busy on the DU🤔🤔🤔 this explains things now😇🤣😇

Owen Scott

Welcome Back. Question for AGM has to be was Beale ever approached last year or even considered?

Adam

I've been very vocal on my doubts about this appointment, but I back him a 100%. I'm vociferous in my support of incumbent Rangers managers, loyal to a fault more often than not. I can only hope the board and Ross Wilson carry the same conviction. He needs to be supported, no place more so, than in the transfer market in January and in the summer. Onwards and upwards. Nine points is nothing.

CJT

Good luck to the new gaffer. Welcome back, Mr Beale, to the world's greatest football club. The role is not an easy one, but nothing worthwhile is. The rewards for those who do the job to the standards our history demands are grea, though. I sincerely hope you bring success we crave and reach the heights of some of your most illustrious predecessors.

stefan strzelecki

I have confidence in this appointment. I expected the board to be informed by Beale that the team needs real investment. He already knows the strength and weaknesses in the majority of the squad. Absolutely no one will be able to pull the wool over his eyes. The pedigree of his coaches intrigue me too. This is also why I love football too. Very best wishes to our new management team.

Graeme McLeod

So Ross Wilson doesn't already know the team needed real investment over the last three transfer windows rather than project players and a permanently injured Hearts defender? If Ross Wilson and this Rangers board needed Michael Beale to tell them that then that'd be very damning.

Alan Stewart

Good luck Michael Beale. The board needs to back him. This squad needs a complete overhaul. Quietly optimistic for the remainder of the season and beyond.

stefan strzelecki

I think the evidence shows they underestimated the need for renewal of the squad. Part of that may well have related to the passivity of Giovanni to negotiate more vociferously for investment. Beale has talked previously of the imperative for a management team to place great demands on the recruitment for every window to prevent stagnation. I don’t think we need to worry about this matter going forward. Whether he gets everything he wants is another matter, he will pursue squad development.

maccalsa

Not sure about this appointment, whether he is good or not, I feel he won't get the backing to strengthen the squad that would make any real difference. I HOPE I am wrong. I would temper Park's comments the wording he uses is very deliberate. Beale and Wilson have his full backing. Full backing could mean anything. Full backing could mean what he has been doing already.

David Best

I am delighted. Who thought we could get a manager who turned down an EPL club? He is young and motivated and committed to us and is taking a huge career gamble on us

Jamie

Congratulations to him. I wish him well and hope it goes well despite being dubious. However, I will play devil’s advocate here and say this appointment goes well despite being skeptical: This was also an option available 1 year ago but would’ve cost £6m less (if we are to believe the figures reported). £4.5m less to sack Gio and £1.5m less in compensation to QPR. Surely that is a failure by the DoF, Ross Wilson? At best, £6m wasted and a year of stagnation.

Gregg

Conversely GVB played and improved Bassey - subsequently sold for c. £20m, earned us oodles from Europa league and qualified for the champions league. From a monetary aspect, he’s well in the black.

Jamie

Which adds to my view that if he was equipped properly he would have succeeded. And in my opinion long term whoever the manager is will have problems with Ross Wilson and his pathetic recruitment. My point is it’s a round about way to spend a year in which all we won was a Scottish Cup if long term we believe it was to be MB who will succeed at us.
