Audio is very quiet ?

Not sure how anyone could legitmately say they wouldn't take even half the fee we paid for Matondo. There's a reason that Shalke were happy to take even 25% of what they paid for him. We'll be the same.

David Best

Thank you once again for a truly brilliant show. For me, the one positive is a genuine group of young talent - Lowry, King, Devine, McCann and possibly Ure and Lovelace. Hopefully all get a chance in 2023. Happy New Year gents

Hard call on McCrorie. Past loan spell at Livingston wasn’t a success. Agree that a player of his age needs games. I’d like to see him play consistently for a season at a decent level before we make a decision on his future. Loan or a sale with a buy back written in seems sensible. Both him and McLaughlin may want to stay and fight for the 1 jersey though as clearly McGregor cannot continue beyond this year. GKs have long careers and there isn’t a standout Scottish keeper coming through the ranks. Maybe there isn’t as much of a rush to grasp this opportunity with Gordon out as other chances will surely follow in the future on the national front.

Martin Boyd

After a past it McGregor was given another years contract McCrorie should have been straight in asking what was going on now his career has stalled another 6 months. He should ask to play and if he isn’t playing leave either on loan or permanent otherwise he will be overtaken by younger keepers who have played week in. He has to look after his career.

Scott

Our young talent is something to be very positive about. Have I given up on Matondo? It's getting very close to that, he'll have to be on absolute fire until May to change my mind.

Brian Fisher

It shouldn't matter if Lowry's attitude is bad off the pitch. He should be judged on the pitch, and at this point we can't. The jury's out on Matando but he's another who should e judged

Brian Fisher

after 10 games in his correct position. Not 5 or 10 minutes wide left.

John Davidson

Great discussion as always guys. How many previews was that in 2022? It must be a record? All the best for the New Year to you all.

Kev Armstrong

Talent wise he has more then Wright (RM I mean). Must be god awful in training if Wright gets on before him.

Pondo Sinatra

Happy New Year Lads! 👏 All the best for ‘23 & let’s start it properly by scudding the mutants on the 2nd! WATP 🇬🇧

George Higgins

McCrorie or McLaughlin on loan to Hearts until end of season might suit all parties.

Good pod gents but missing the big man’s ballast! We aren’t ever going to bring through youth unless we actually play them and let them make mistakes. We can talk about guys at 18 as kids and hold them back, reality is we then go any buy these guys at 19 from euro teams and talk about how exciting they are and how many games they have played. All the while our youth hit a ceiling and don’t get the game time. This is part of the mind boggle I have when I hear our fans talking about signing regular first team players from other Scottish clubs to sit on the bench as squad players. If your decent, if your playing and your well thought of why leave unless it’s max money and even then if it is max money it’s a move that could end your career. I don’t think Lowrie is half as good as folk make out and a lazy bad disciplined player would never be near the team for me. I don’t believe in the modern game you can carry the ‘characters’ you used to who smoked, drank and didn’t train but turned up Saturday and banged in or set up a goal. If he continues to find it hard to get game time there is a reason for that and only the management team can say why. Sakala is the African Kent, looks exciting but produces random quality far far too little. It’s interesting all the chat around Matondo but the game he had the other night was Kent carbon copy, lots of pace, lots of good running then no end product or a woeful shot. I’m not convinced the way some area we are much further ahead than we were when Gio started out. He also quickly got a few wins without playing well and people thought the squad were getting the act together but as we saw you can’t play in fits and starts long term. The poor performances, from the players I mean, will catch up with us unless something clicks. I really hope going into 2023 we get some new faces. Enjoyed the discussion, some great stuff as always👌🏻

Love the show, lads. Generally look forward to it dropping before most games and has lifted the spirits before some big games when the team’s form has been poor at times. Keep up the good work. Oh, and has big Strider had a meltdown? I am sure I heard him say something negative on a pod over the last few weeks??? 😆

Alasdair Mann

Enjoyed the chat about the GK situation. Personally I don’t rate McLaughlin. He was solid in the 55 season and until this season wouldn’t have said he had ever let us down. I don’t buy this ‘he’s good with his feet’ narrative that has been spouted (not necessarily by Heart and Hand) - he’s really slow and if you want to play from the back you need a bit of urgency. Is it possible we rejected loan bids for McCrorie because we do rate him highly and want a fee for him? He probably should be looking to leave as his path has been blocked by the previous two managers. Deserved a bit more faith after his cameos in Europe and the derby at the start of last season. Final point - Liam Kelly is the best keeper in scotland out with the ones at our club, Craig Gordon and the one across the city. Steve Clarke should have capped him by now. He’s a decent age for a goalie too. If Zander Clark gets a run for hearts I don’t expect Scotland to go back to Angus Gunn.

Pedro

I can't think of players more different than Kent and Sakala.

Spoon

What in terms of looks ? Point I was making is they both have so much talent and ability but neither seems able to consistently deliver it. We all know both clearly have something about them, the enigma is how do you unlock it or channel it consistently. You don’t think both have excellent running power, tricks, close control and the ability to strike a ball while at the same time they have two left feet, make mental decisions, and have fifty pence shaped feet ? Kent gets a pass season in season out but is routinely out performed by our RB who half the fans think should be binned, is responsible for every mistake and shouldn’t be captain. If your an attacker you need to deliver goals and share the load. Sakala gets a pass as he has one good game in 10 and is ‘chaotic’, for me we need guys who are 9s some week but drop to a low of 7 on a bad day not guys who are either 1 or 10s in my mind. Just an opinion appreciate it’s not shared by all!

Gregg

Spot on about the youths - harsh words on Lowry, what is that based on? Kent and Sakala comparison is a odd - kent is supremely talented technicality and Sakala is the exact opposite.

David_Davy_Dave

I’m boring myself repeating this but Lowry is 6 days older than Jude Bellingham. This is his moment and he is watching it pass him by

Chris Wight

Good work as always lads. Re the goalkeeping situation, and as a devoted Scotland follower, I expect that Steve Clarke will stick with Jon McLaughlin. Provided that he continues to get the odd appearance for Rangers which looks likely at present, Clarke has a knack for sticking with the old and reliable (just think Stephen O'Donnell). The youth development at the club seriously concerns me and has done for a while. Out with Nathan Patterson we have failed to bring through any young talent into the first team. Even he is lucky to fall into that bracket as his only sustained run of games was due to Tavs injury. I think if the situation above unfolds as expected then that will spell the end of Robbie McCrorie for me. Regardless of the new contract, I suspect he will spend the rest of his Rangers career out on loan if a new keeper is brought in in the Jan/summer transfer windows. Outside him I think the previous management regime were reluctant to play guys like Lowry, King and McCann and this obviously hasn't worked in their favour. But as you guys said, if they couldn't get in the team recently then what hope have they got. The only point I'd add to that is that the injury to Steven Davis may be key to McCann getting more game time.

Christopher pollock

Best show on the platform for me love it and Steven’s hate for Paul McGinn is a delight 🤣

Spoon

It’s based on seeing him play on the rare occasions he has turned out for first team and bits of what was on RTV when they show B team stuff. To some he’s the next incarnation of Barry Ferguson but from what I have seen he’s just a semi decent youngster with a lot to prove. Kent is talented, not sure about supremely as his end product has waned year on year and as I mention above I’m not overly impressed by intangibles, I want people in the team middle to front who carry threat and share in the goals. We have far too many who can’t shoot or won’t shoot and Kent is absolutely in that category, he is as likely to do what Matondo did the other day, make the chance then fluff it. Sakala is similar we are told he is a chaotic enigma but his output is at best erratic and instead of all our forwards making space for others it might be nice if they all chipped in 10 to 15 goals themselves instead of putting all the pressure on Colak or Alfie? It’s just a view not gospel.

Gregg

Not sure Lowry reminds me too much of Ferguson - the boy is certainly very exciting and looks like a bit of a throwback. Time will tell if that’s good or bad. Think kent will get more goals now he’s moved off the touchline - he did get 19 assists last year which is more than decent and oft forgotten.

Spoon

Agree to disagree, Kent’s numbers are on a downward trend and he doesn’t look to be progressing as far as I can see. Personally would sell him and try something different with a more goals. Lowrie is the latest in a long line of hot prospects, time will tell if he can turn that into a career. If he does great, just don’t think he’s done much so far to deserve some of the hype.

Angus Mackay

Thanks for all your work on the pod throughout the year, lads. Even when I don't agree, I really appreciate the hard work and commitment that goes into it.
