The Preview lads have done a sterling job across the year giving you in-depth insight into all of our domestic and European opponents for the last 12 months - now they need something from you!

The boys are putting together a show to discuss the Rangers player and goal of the year 2022 and would love you to submit your entries in the comments field below. The show will air on New Years Day, so please have submissions in no later than 5pm UK time on Friday 30th December.

Goal - Lundstram v Leipzig. There are 'better' goals (Lundstram v Dortmund for instance), but it is the king. Poty - Lundstram, Tav, dare I say Kent in the mix. But I will go for the player whose importance was demonstrated by his absence - Goldson.

Goal is an easy one.... Lundstram v Leipzig. What a feeling when that went in. Player of the year for 2022, even though he hasn't played the second part of the year would be big Bassey for me. There hasn't been a standout for me this season apart from big Tony goals

Goal - Kamara vs Leipzig. See what happens when he actually shoots. Player - Tavernier. His faults are well discussed but that European run solidified his place in the club’s history.

Player of the year James Tavernier. September-December perhaps not his most vintage, although he probably showed more character than most to come out and play through injuries and try to keep the team going. However, February to May, what performances he showed, what goals he scored, leading us to Seville was unmatched. Dortmund home and away Red Star at home Braga at home Leipzig at home. First up vs Frankfurt too. Europa League top goalscorer. Tav was always going to be a Rangers legend after 55, and he was a kick away from immortal status. Goal - most will say Lundstram vs Leipzig, which as a moment will be difficult to beat, but the question is goal, not moment. So same player, but different German opposition. Lundstram with the left foot shot after Kent takes on 143 Dortmund players. Rangers are in dreamland in Deutschland. Not the bedlam in my living room you’d expect, with a 10 day old baby sleeping on my chest for the second half. I was gobsmacked. What a moment, what a goal. Although ultimately disappointing, if 2023 ends up half as memorable as 2022. Then I can see us being absolutely delighted come this time next year, ironically. Goal - so many on our European run but Kamara against Leipzig. Everything about it was perfect. The stadium was electric after the opener but that was something else. Player - Scott Arfield. Every time I think we’ve seen the last of him he pulls something out of the bag. If only he were 5 years younger. Such a massive player for us, it’s infuriating that he has to pull us out of the shit given his age.

My Goal of the Year has to be Lundstrum vs Dortmund. Kent’s run was sublime and the strike on the ball from Lundrstum was just sensational and a marker of what was to come in terms of swagger and confidence. The goal vs Leipzig is special in other ways, but in therms of a footballing goal, this can’t be beat. Player of the Year has to be Tavernier. To lead the club to a European Final, something only three men have done previous, and to do it as the top scorer in the competition (from defence no less, something never done before) is as good as it can get. His play and demeanour exceplifies everything that was good about us at our best.
