Hoggy is back with another Our Rangers Player, and promises to make this a more regular thing!

This time, we're going back to Christmas in 1909 and one of Scottish football's moments of on-field tragedies, and a moment that no doubt changed Frank Branscombe's life forever.

If you want to hear about a player (or players), let me know in the thread or email at hoggy@heartandhand.co.uk.

Enjoy

Great to have ORP back. A cracking listen as always

Gordon Watson

Love these shows. My grandfather was born circa 1886 so it’s somewhat of a surreal listen in this particular case.

Craig Mitchell

Brilliant to have this back. Absolutely love these. Thanks Hoggy and HNY.

David Herd

Great stuff. I had posted his story on Follow Follow on Christmas Day, great minds obviously thinking alike!

If not done already, the likes of Jimmy Paterson, Willie Reid, Jock Buchanan and Ian McPherson would make great stories to tell.

I got sent a couple of extracts from a guy I know that supports Thistle at start of December. One was called “Triumph then Tragedy - the story of Thistle’s first ever League win at Firhill” and from The Thistle Archive “A Fatal Christmas”. I was working on this and saw you piece on FF. Made sure it wasn’t the same 😂 It’s a cool, if tragic wee story. Parallels with Sam English are huge.

What a fantastic but so tragic story..you really brought history alive..well done Hoggy..thank god teams look after their players better hopefully in the lower leagues too.
