Just wanted to ask a question about the corporate structure of the club. Firstly is Douglas Park an executive or non-executive chairman and secondly is Stewart Robertson’s role as Managing Director the same as a CEO ?

Bob MacCallum

Andy, disagree re the smaller size of our players. Look at Celtic. Gordon, Taylor, Hatate, McGregor, Mooy, Turnbull, Maeda, Abada, Kyogo, Jota are not big, powerful players.

Heart and Hand

Executive chairman. And no, not quite. A CEO would basically run the company to his vision and occasionally report progress or otherwise to a board. An MD runs the club on an operational day to day basis but big decisions are still taken by the board.

David Baillie

Bang on the money lads. I’ve posted previously of our need for 2 or 3 bastards in that squad. We’ve been way too nice for a long time now. Too much chat about respect for the opposition. We don’t have a single player who bullies or intimidates. Physicality is a huge part of the modern game. You don’t have to be big in stature but strength, power and aggression are essential.

Martin Davies

Every Sunday league player will play the perfect pass or execute the perfect finish now and again. What separates them from the best players in the world is the consistency. Sunday league, maybe 1 in 100? Whereas City players do it 99/100. Unfortunately our players don't do it enough either and therefore aren't as good as we all think they are.

Louch

Banners get told to get off the electronic boardings every week. Companies like yourself pay to be visible on them. Don’t think it’s what was implied

Rona Bluebell

Andy, we need someone more measured as it’s like the Wild West after last Sunday, plus I need someone somewhere to give some positives.

Alan Weir

Andy certainly isn’t on his own. He pretty much reflects my opinion on the club and, I know, the opinion of many others. We live in a world where Follow Follow and the Union Bears exist: both bring lots of entertainment to the Rangers supporting experience, but let’s not kid ourselves regarding the limitations (including lunacy, daft opinions, stupid songs and that fuckin’ drum) of both FF and the UB. Glad to hear Andy gets paid well by the Ibrox board😁

This core group haven’t got the eye of the tiger, they aren’t hungry enough and are too satisfied with single achievements. I agree totally with Andy around players being overhyped far too quickly and having achieved very little, but I disagree with him using Kent as an example of a guy needing time to bed in. To me Kent is the epitome of an over-hyped player in our squad and someone who is bang average with an undeserved mystique. He might well get a Bosman contract, someone will take him down south to the championship and pay him a small fortune but the reality is I’m sure if you got candour from Liverpool they would be amazed we paid £7 million for Kent. Nobody in Scotland fears Kent now, they know he can run and will now and again embarrass a defender but they know he doesn’t actually deliver, yet for many in the squad he is a must re-sign, why ? Other than ‘just cause’ is he value ? I personally dont see it and yet he like others have managed to get some kind of aura of being irreplaceable. The fact there is even a discussion around Kent and we are almost waiting to see what he wants to do is part of the wider lack of steel all the way through the club. No time for huffs, no time for drop in standards or application and you either are fully committed or your moved on should be the mantra. For me we should be building around the new guys, Colak, Raskin, Cantwell etc Colak has had a handful of games and we have all decided what he can’t do give the guy a chance, with some new blood and hopefully a new set up then lets see what he can or can’t do. As a final comment, the manager also needs less mystique and more realism applied, comments like ‘I dont know why we can’t play for 90’ or ‘We spoke about how we need to start but we didnt follow instruction’ are a poor indictment of the impact he is able to extort. This type of player power and lack of ability to follow instruction is unacceptable, its why Gio got sacked and if Beale isn’t careful it will be his downfall, he has to know why they aren’t starting games (or finishing them) following the game plan. If its simply they aren’t doing what they are told, tell us and stop protecting this shower. Great pod as always, enjoy Andy’s take on things even if I dont agree 100% with every element.

David Innes

We could well be on course for the highest ever points tally for a team finishing 2nd. If that happens the main reason will be with the exception of a fairly good Hearts team the standard of the rest of the league is absolutely abysmal - possibly as bad as it’s ever been

David Innes

The equivalent to an Alex Rae type signing could be John Fleck - not a hard man but someone who gets the club and has grafted like fuck to achieve what he has in his career

James McConnachie

Andy is definitely between two stools. Douglas Park’s and Stewart Robertson’s. 💋 I fully agree with his assessment regarding expectations. We are Rangers. No second best ever. Alright isn’t good enough. Bastards required. Bite yer legs schemey bastards. Hypodermic needle covered hedgehogs on crack. I would disagree with Tav. He’s the biggest example of a 9 and 3 in one game. Steven Davis was an 7 min every game. Good pod.

David Gardner

Good pod guys and agree on most of the points. The banner being removed from the window of the hospitality section was the correct thing to do - people have paid a considerable amount of money to be in there and shouldn’t have any banner on the window. Wilson time should be coming to an end.

Andy Gray

Everybody in Ibrox could see lack of intensity at start of 2nd half yet Beale took til after 70 mins to make any changes, baffling.

David Baillie

Aye, me too Chris. He’s a bit of an enigma. Sometimes he’s right at it, snapping into tackles and playing quick accurate passes as in last year’s semifinal. Then he looks on his heels, sluggish, poor distribution and miles off the pace, a la last weeks final. Mystifying. 🤷‍♂️ I was wondering if he underwent a fitness test last week and if so how did he ever pass it. Looked about 60% fit and should have been hooked at half time. If not earlier.

DRKMN

Is it just me or is there software clipping out any dead air or pauses in this pod? Sounds like you're rattling through it and overlapping your own sentences. Maybe you're just rattling 😉

DRKMN

Nah I thought that at first but when I play other pods it's fine. You're speaking at the same speed, it just sounds like any gaps between sentences are clipped out. David almost talks over himself a couple of times. Sounds like neither of you stop for air in this pod to me!

DRKMN

I'll need to find a rogue setting somewhere then. It's a weird one. Cheers Andy 👍

Stevie

Great pod lads, liked both parts and always a sensible viewpoint. I’m totally aligned with Andy’s thinking and Davids when he speaks on Wilson etc. Also think timing of the pod, 45 mins is ideal and keeps it perfect. A small point, funny when all mine run way over all the time 😂

DRKMN

It's was a rogue download. Sounds fine when streaming, but the download has the issue. Thanks for checking.

Gregg

Talk about comparisons to the other lot - agree we need players who have strength and aggression (being on the front foot rather than booting folk). Apart from the all being bastards - who do the other mob have that fit the bastard profile?

George Harrison

Andy, I really can’t agree with your comments about Alfie being our best striker by a mile … seems like many others, you’re infatuated with the 2019 version, and oblivious to the slow, lazy, overweight, poor finisher of the last few years. Give Colak a break, let’s judge him when he’s fully match fit and getting proper service …. he would have had a couple of tap ins v Killie if Sakala had been less selfish !

Gareth Williams

Excellent pod. Pretty much agree with Andy about the board apart from Ross Wilson. He has overseen too many poor signings for me. We need the current board to be recognising how poorly Wilson has done in the transfer market and moving him on. I don't hold out hope for an improvement from him.

Tamus

Would Ryan Porteous and Lewis Ferguson have been bastardy enough?

Martin Boyd

Agree with Andy re finances not Alfie but then I’m not sentimental over players. As for Robertson I think the calls for him to go are wrong and are probably down to the awful media in Scotland big mouths who play to the gallery like Lawwell get amplified by clowns who think controversy real or imagined is what their business is. A more mature media and he would be held up as a nutcase whereas Rangers fans read about his crass comments and think we should have someone like that.

James Cameron

Wonder what Andy's thoughts on Dave King's shares? With the C1872 deal collapsing. Will he keep them and try get back onto the board or sell them to another shareholder or to an outside party?

Andy McGowan

There is no way Colak is better than Morelos, goalscoreraybe, but all round striker - no chance. . And I made a specific point about Morelos' weight and shape! Called him out as a disgrace

Campbell Maclennan

Can Tillman and Cantwell start in the same team in big games (Euro and them)? We still need to see it IMO (hope they can). If they can't would be better not signing Tillman and using the money to get a fast goal scoring wide player which we desperately need...

Raskul

Andy just had to mention the Malmo game 😭 Trauma returned. 😨

Douglas Innes

Andy's right we arent exactly 25 points behind and managerless like they were during 55 and the fans better be careful in who they target as the reason/problem in where we are , these guys have seriously supported/funded the club and there doesn't seem to be anyone waiting in the wings to put more money into the club , i just feel the squad is bloated in a sense when we make changes its for changes sake with no real change on the pitch, Kamara and Lundstrum both have a tendency to let games go past them and don't seem capable of " rising " to the tempo plenty have said Jack and Raskin should've started the final we can only hope Beale learns going forward....... ps the emergence of Cantwell makes me think we wont sign Tillman

AGS

I wouldn’t resign any of the OOC players it’s time to move on. Agree with the podcast that the board let Gerrard bin the much touted player trading model which I suppose was his lack of experience; just hope Beale doesn’t try the same approach

Hendi

Andy, "we don't want a Peter Lawell" Aye 29 trophies in 17 years sounds shite...

George Harrison

A disgrace, but still better than Colak ! 🤔 The only thing that Alfie is better at is holding the ball in.

Steven L

I’m not sure it can be said that the performances from this squad is the norm. In the main it’s a title winning squad. It can be said tho that it is a squad can’t win with the pressure from the stands. Just my thoughts.
