We've needed tactics to negate this low block for sometime now. Thought MB would have come up with a solution by now but maybe not with the majority of this current squad. Fingers crossed that we can next season as yesterday's performance was a throwback and very Gioesque. No atmosphere as I think we knew what we were expecting on the park. Difficult to get up for it

Rob Cunninghame

Who cares about the Union bears it’s all about the team on the park

Martin Davies

I've been a huge Morelos fan since he signed as an apparent understudy to Herrera. I've forgiven a lot because I could see what he brought to the team. But I lost patience earlier this season and there's nothing he can do in the next 2 months for me to think he's worth another deal. However, Colak is not the answer. He actually reminds me of Herrera, with a little bit of Kris Boyd in there too. We absolutely need a striker, probably two, in the summer. I'm also on the fence with Ryan Jack. We don't need everyone in the squad to make 50-60 appearances in a season, but nor can we afford to carry players who need their game time managed. If we go with Jack and Lundstram as the two defensive midfielders in the squad, what do we do if Lunny picks up an injury and Jack can't play 3 games in 7 days? We're then pulling players out of other positions or rushing players back before they're ready. As good a player as he is, we need players who are robust and available to play.

Lee

Peter lovenkrands was mine. Also agree with the manager we need to let go of the past as an entire club not just the players. But Beale is one of the worst offenders, he constantly brings up his previous time at the club

Pedro M SVO

born in 86 Laudrup was my hero found out he was leaving when i went to get a paper and read the backpage was upset when i got back in the house

Calum Robertson

Agree with Andy on the sentiments on Barry, Treble winning captain and he was happy to leave for mediocrity at Blackburn

Jordan

Carlos Cuellar for me. Magnificent, beautiful, ugly boi.

Ronnie Paterson

12 year old me was absolutely gutted when left

Andrew Barrie

Born in 92, absolutely gutted when the Hammer left. No one in blue has scored goals like him since

Graham Roy

Davie Cooper! Was gutted when he left

Greig Neilson

First was, John McClelland, Rangers didn’t lose their captain to effing Watford, I just didn’t understand that as a 10 year old. Trevor Steven to Marseille was my JFK Rangers player transfer moment, devastating.

David Innes

100% agree with Alan and Andy about the UBs. They don’t speak for your the whole support and some of the songs creeping back into the song book in away games are not acceptable in my opinion.

R. Jenkins

Slim Jim!!! Why would anyone want to leave The Rangers? Still hurts almost 58 years later.

David Smart

Born in 90 I would say mines was albertz as well. So many memorable moments and couldn’t understand why he was leaving.

Graham Jones

The ones when I was a wee boy that gutted me was Derek Parlane and Derek Johnstone, but when I was in my late teens it would Ray Wilkins and Terry Butcher. It felt like the end of an era when Butcher left, and it was to an extent. It was the last vestiges of that first title winning team under Souness, and it left me wondering where we were going now. I’d also say Souness leaving as well, because of what he meant to us. Wilkins was one of those where the whole stadium felt the same that day when he took his final bow. A true gentleman who is sorely missed.

Jonny Aitken

Unbelievable from Alan and Andy. Only David backing the Union Bears up. Both Alan and Andy taking the boards word as gospel over the whole situation and took it to have a dig at the Union bears and totally missed the point regards Union Bears problem with the board. It was mentioned that they don’t speak for all the support which of course they don’t but if you want to express your opinion on something then maybe you can bring some banners in with you…ofcourse only if it toes the party line

8luenose1872

I was absolutely gutted when Davie Cooper left us for Motherwell and even more when he left us all for good.

Stephen Fraser

I think Albertz leaving was one that I remember. Had the same feeling as when you get dumped by a girlfriend. Have to say that it did take me a wee bit to deal with Gerrard leaving as well, although it wasn’t quite on the same level as Albertz

Ray

I always thought Philip Sebo would’ve been a player for us 😂 I was actually raging when he left 🤦🏻‍♂️😮‍💨

Martin Davies

Harsh on Alan and Andy. For what it's worth, I agree with those guys. The UB need to grow up and start boxing smart. Too keen to be edgy and often overstep the mark.

Alistair Simpson

Possibly a bit of a strange one, but the first that really sticks out for me was Mikel Arteta, I was absolutely gutted when he left. So much so I wanted to make a banner begging him to stay, but my auld man wouldn't let me 😂😂. I was young 🤣

Andy Barnett

I’d love to be able to afford to fly to a game, nevemind bring a banner. Appreciate your opinion Jonathan. You seem to have missed the good things I said about the UB’s though, and that I agreed with their legitimate banner.

Adam

ACAB though. The UB have used those types of banners numerous times throughout the years. For me the board used it as an excuse to silence them over the Wilson banner. Which is shitebag behaviour. Protest banners are a normal part of football, if they continue to stifle them, then they'll suffer the consequences. It's a shame, ultimately the team suffers because the atmosphere will be dire.

John Monk

The 92-93 season was the season I became all in with Rangers so Mark Hateley leaving for me was massive and I was gutted, him returning was actually a brilliant closure for me even at a relatively young age as he made an impact vs them but ultimately it was clear that he was done at that level.

Spoon

Given we play the majority of our games against teams who sit in, even when we score they don’t come out, then we need to solve the problem asap as it will cost us as it has done this season already. The more worrying thing for me is the lack of consistency in message. We need to cut the cord with the past but let’s keep all my old guard from back in the day … we need to make a lot of changes to the squad but then talking about only 3 maybe 4 players moving on. I’m not unrealistic but this squad needs gutted, the sentiment binned with under performers and a new style developed as we are stale top to bottom with same players, same squad, same laboured play and same results week in week out. This league has worked us and our long serving players are ineffective, guys like Kent had their time but I’m convinced nobody really fears our players any more, even the stars are jaded just from being here a few years too long. I know it’s not going to be an overnight solution but I wish Beale would at least acknowledge the issues with the stale players but he talks more about keeping them which is a real concern.

Christopher Ferguson

Born in 1990 Albertz would be the main one I was gutted about leaving, but I remember being around 10 years old and absolutely scunnered at Rod Wallace leaving 😂

Forsyth Henderson

Do you think Beale is thinking about playing three (big guys) at the back to be more of a threat at set plays? This would be against teams that sit deep all the time.

Alan Bradley

Faults on both sides, not a case of taking the Board’s word as gospel. Lots of good stuff from the Union Bears, but in the past they have let themselves down and our Club down too. Whilst it may be commonplace in football, the ACAB banner I don’t feel is something that shows them or our support in a positive light. Hopefully I’ll have my ABACAB banner ready for the semi/final.

Jonny Aitken

Totally disagree which is fine. I understand the legitimate complaints regarding the Union Bears but again everyone is taking the board at their word over this matter when it has been proven they hate the protest banners. At the game vs Kilmarnock the board actively sent stewards to remove banners that they did not like, this should have sounded alarm bells ringing. Then on Sunday, conveniently, the Unions Bears happened to have a banner that both Police and the Board did not like therefore the banners were refused entry. It comes across most are blaming the Union Bears for what went on eventhough we have a board with a proven track record of lying and not caring about the support atall. They would rather do without the UB’s let’s be honest. Lastly on the matter, we are all adults here and can give our opinions as such without falling out and being reasonable but I will just finish and say - to say they need to grow up is very harsh. Did they need to grow up when they made the 150th anniversary display all by themselves with zero help from the club? They do more good than bad for our club and the club are happy to take credit for what they do. Was planning on scrolling twitter on Tuesday morning, not write a paragraph on the benefits of the UB’s 😀

Graeme Smith

I think my first time being gutted truly at a player leaving was Davie Cooper. I genuinely couldn’t understand why he would leave Ibrox ultimately for Motherwell. I was angry at him for weeks then I met him as my cousin knew him quite well and well they say never meet your heroes but he was brilliant with an 11 yr old me. Even today 35 years on, he remains my hero

Charlie Nicolson

Born in 72. Funnily enough the first one that hurt was Albertz. Possibly because Laudrup wanted away. Young me didn't develop an emotional attachment to players. Had Alfie gone two seasons ago, I'd have been sorry, but £16M into the coffers would have eased that. If he leaves at the end of the season then so be it, it's his time. His behaviour over the next ten weeks dictates whether he will get a great reception doing half time draws in the 2030's

Alan Bradley

Absolutely fine Jonny with the “agree to disagree” on this one. One of the many positives I feel about H&H is we can do this respectfully, as part of the same Rangers family. Have fun on twitter.

Derek Eaglesham

My first one i was really gutted about was Davie Robertson, i grew up with him and then Laudrup marauding up and down that left side, underlapping, overlapping the lot. Always remember thinking when he got the ball something exciting was going to happen. Couldn't understand why he'd leave and to leave for Leeds, never thought I'd see a player like him again. Think the cycling shorts played some part as well!!

Matt McGuire

Born in 92, so my first heartbreak would have to be the god Laudrup. He left when I was 6 & had just been getting into Rangers for a season or two beforehand. Another one, but not so much because they left the club, was when Mols got his leg snapped against Bayern as he was just so good. He basically became my hero after Laudrup and Albertz and to see that happen to him and then come back and be a different player of sorts, it hurt.

Fraser Doonan

For me it was Mikel Arteta and what made it worse was moving to a club I hadn’t even heard of at the time. In my eyes if he was going to a Spanish team there was only Barcelona or Real Madrid

George Higgins

As a wee boy of about 8 I was sad when Jim Baxter left. Not distraught but sad. He returned a few years later but it became obvious he was a spent force by then.

Lee

Mine was Ally, my room was covered in his posters as was my school books. I got a birthday card for my 8th birthday that I kept in my drawer for a few years that was just a picture of him, not even from him 😂. I was 11 when he left and I was absolutely gutted, my dad had to explain that he’s just a little too old now but my 11 year old logic was he’s still playing for Kilmarnock so he can still play for Rangers.

Stuart McCall

When Ian Ferguson left in 99/00 season. That was the end of my childhood Rangers team gone. Plus he was a proper Rangers player.

Steve Clark

With Alan,I was devastated when my dad told me we had sold Colin stein to Coventry.he was the first rangers player I had a poster of on my bedroom wall.

Ryan Stewart

Interesting discussion on Cantwell. I think both David and Andy mentioned that they don’t think he is going to score many goals. If that’s the case, can we go into next season with both Cantwell and Kent in our first 11? That’s 2 of your front 4 who aren’t going to score goals. Our main problem outwith 1 season is that we don’t have anywhere near enough goals in the team. Both are easy on the eye but particularly domestically we need killers in the final third. I know people don’t like to compare us to them, but if you look across the city, at anytime they have 3/4 players in their 11 who score goals regularly.

Graeme Burns

January 1998 still rankles with me big time for that’s the month our hopes of 10-in-a-row walked out the door and up to Perth with the catastrophic, short sighted and utterly ridiculous sale of the Dundee Lizerazu, aka Gary Bollan, to St Johnstone. I refused to go to school, take my meds or use a toilet that week such was my utter desolation at the loss of our talisman, hero and icon.

Calum Robertson

A few years when needed by Walter Smith, big Mark didn’t return he came back home to do what he did best giving it to the beggars defence

Paul Coulter

My 1st memory of being confused about a player leaving was the legend Tugay. I was desperate to see him succeed and was gutted when he left

Kris Manson

I was born in 87 and Ally leaving in 98 broke my heart after the run at the end of his final season. He was all I knew as a Rangers fan, that summer of 98 was hard letting go of my childhood heroes Laudrup, Goram etc but McCoist will always be my all time favourite player.

David Bill

My first game coincides with the arrival of Colin Stein at ibrox. It was the game against Clyde we won 6-0 he scored 3 and got sent off….he was a revelation. He was my hero, I’d be him over the park playing with my pals. So when he left I was absolutely gutted Colin Stein is my pic

Christopher Fair

Tuguay was my first love for some reason. I remember having the sort of multi coloured purple/lilic away shirt with him in the back and the white with the red and blue stripes. Albertz was my generational hero though. Also a fondness for Jonas Thern. My first out firm game was his goal against them

David Tod

I was heartbroken when Davie Wilson left.I was nine and I was wee and blonde so that tells it’s own story. My Old Man was of no assistance ‘cos he was a Thirds fan and my mum had got random neighbours to take me to games. My gutted for no apparent reason is Gabby Amato. When he was good he was fucking unplayable.

James Kelly

Mine was when Ray Wilkins left I was only 9 and was at his last game. I think it's because I always remember my dad saying how classy a player he was and then wondering why he has to leave Rangers.

G Dewar

Gazza was my first heartbreak I was 12 and absolutely gutted and baffled when we let him go. I thought we were throwing away the title. I still agree with my 12 year old self on that!

Ross

Couple for me that I can’t decide on Trevor Steven, was outstanding when he left. Then I was equally excited when he came back and he dipped about 20% The other was Mark Walters 😭

Stuart MacKenzie

Steven Davis (the first time). Don’t cry for my broken heart. Cry for the abandoned near posts.

Benjamin McGlinchey

Got to be Barry Ferguson. Equally devastated both times, but felt like the heart was ripped out the side in 2003.

Stuart MacKenzie

Steven Davis (the first time). Don’t cry for my broken heart. Cry for the abandoned near posts.

Heart and Hand

I shouldn't have asked this, all these are bringing back terrible memories!

Gregor Anderson

If McCoist had ever left early in 90's I would have been inconsolable. When a wee guy the first player to leave that I took really badly Was Mark Walters ☹️ Was my favourite player for ages when a nipper and If McCoist was not there it probably would have been much worse. 😁 40 year old and I think I'm going to need that talk that Stevie gave his lads when buff leaves (IF... IF ... IF he leaves) I'm still holding out hope 🤣🤣🤣 IF buff does leave I'm going to be like a bear with a sore head for a while especially if I still have to watch a few of these absolute losers. I will honestly have no patience for many of them especially Kent. 7m million and nowhere near the contribution of Morelos in roughly the same time period yet Beale falling over himself to try and keep him yet 'Morelos needs to show more' 🤔

Alan Duffy

Strangely, Jim Bett. Can't really remember why. I really liked the way Bett played and couldn't believe he left for a team I'd never heard of.

Graham johnston

Chris Woods. I couldn't understand why we were getting rid of him back in the day. Then I was to stubborn to accept Goram until its was totally obvious he was top class. Looking back it's obviously the 3 foreigner rule was partly the reason why Woods left but it certain worked out well for us.

Gordon Smith

Ted “the tin man” McMinn still remember it couldn’t believe he was aloud to leave just when he was becoming a real hero at the club. Have to point out he went to Sevilla. Although it was to join up with Jock Wallace.

David McBurney

My first heartbreak was Robert Fleck I was 11 years old and I remember my dad telling me he'd joined Norwich and I was absolutely devastated

Gordon Smith

He was a great player. We missed him dreadfully. Those crazy days when we lost players to Aberdeen.

ally keith

Mines was Stuart Munro, I thought when I was 14/15 the team should have been built around him..he was a great player for us and won a few trophies….

Bob MacCallum

Mine was Jim Baxter in 1965. I cried in my bed the night he left.....and I was 14 at the time!
