1966 the Jules Rimet World Cup trophy was stolen in England and was found in a bush by a dog called Pickles.

Bob MacCallum

In1966 Pickles, the dog, found the World Cup trophy that had been nicked.

Bob MacCallum

PS from memory, think it had been on display in a London hotel.

Bob MacCallum

Cheer up, Ash. Celtic might have been dominant during WW1 but Gers dominated from 1920 - 64 when Celtic were nothing, apart from the odd title and Scottish Cup win.

Bob MacCallum

Sorry, Ash but you can't count the Glasgow and Charity cups as " The Treble" as obviously these weren't national competitions, as the names suggets.

James McSween

Great concept for a show but finding it a hard listen unfortunately. Think it’s missing an older head like Bob or someone to help with research and knowledge.

Ashley_H

Sorry to hear that, James. What specifically is hard to listen to? Keen to improve to make the show enjoyable for all listeners

Ashley_H

Cheers, Bob. Poor choice of phrasing on my part, treble in the sense it was three trophies but fully agree not a treble in traditional sense of Scottish football

I like the format and enthusiasm you guys bring. Maybe some things could be cleared up with a quick google in advance but on the whole you’re doing a great job highlighting history that lots of fans don’t know about.

Gazza G

If you are keen on the history of the club I would recommend the Founders Trail which is fantastic and a day really well spent.

Ashley_H

Great shout, Gazza. It’s been on my to do list for a while so need to get it booked

Opinionated Scotsman

Queens Park stayed amateur all the way up until about 2019 I believe

The Jules Rimet World Cup was stolen in 1966 but found later by a dog called Pickles. The trophy was stolen again in 1983 In Brazil after that country had won it in perpetuity having won it for a third time in 1970. It has never been found, funnily enough this links it tenuously to the oldest non British footballing trophy, the Durand Cup, which was also awarded to the HLI after that Scottish Regiment won it for a third time (it now resides in the Regimental museum on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow

Sandy

Can understand the complaint, but I also enjoy the fact this is being produced, not by out and out experts, but rather by enthusiastic amateurs, I’ve quite enjoyed doing my own fact checking…. Swings and roundabouts I feel James

Kellie

Great job guys. Enjoying hearing and learning about the old captains and looking forward to getting to more recent ones.
