Tune! … Again!!! For the avoidance of doubt, Clancy is a cheat and the SFA know, and condone it

dotty 84

The plus is this was 3-2 with a strike force that can't score to save our lives this season. Being cheated out by the opening goal and handing them 2 goals on a platter. Without Goldson, Helander, Lawrence, Hagi, Roofe. If that's the best they've got or their best team for Years then it's not going to take much to overtake them. Biggest Summer since Gerrard first one coming up.

Joe Baxter

Stop the online abuse . Stop being Mr nice guys , when final whistle blows go to the fans and applaud and completely ignore the officials . Do our talking on the park as well .

Leslie White

Still disagree end of the season all out of contracts, thanks and goodbye. Jack overall takes the easy way out back and sideways passes possibly lucky to get shots out of him goodbye.

Gregg

There’s a difference between inadequate part time refs and a blatant cheat. Cry me a river Kevin.

Tamus

Ah ha ha - ever get the feeling you've been Cheated! (c) Lydon 1978

Been attending games for over 40 years and I seen some genuinely terrible Scottish referees in that time, Bob Vatican, Andrew Waddell, Dougie Hope etc but this latest crop are worse. Clancy is not just incompetent it is a blatant and obvious choice to not give the correct decisions when Rangers are playing. The fact the SFA are doubling down and the usual moonhowlers are calling out Rangers for complaining is all the evidence needed. We are a farce as a nation both currently politically and from a football governing body perspective. I don’t see it getting any better as heads are firmly in the sand. Getting more and disengaged from it as the weeks pass. This current crop of “past their best or never reached their best” players doesn’t help either. Jack at a push for a contract but none of the rest. Offload the likes of Matondo, Kamara,Wright, Lundstram and Barisic as well.

Heart and Hand

Apparently Celtic fans on Twitter are upset with me because I said Clancy was a cheat. My heart bleeds purple piss hearing that, so it does.

Greg

Have they actually reported these alleged threats to the police?

Bill Jones

Having watched the goal a few times, keep an eye on Clancy. For a split second he goes to give it then changes his mind

Billy McCormack

Rangers need to get to fuck out of Scottish football it's geared to help one team and it'll be that way for a long long time.

Scott Macrae

The picture of Clancy laughing outside speaks volumes. RE Jack, the weekend still haunting me, that pass. Is he really worthy of a new deal? He’s a very lucky guy if he gets a new one. Theres definitely a debate to be had about whether we get rid of everyone who’s potentially ran their course and been on the end of a loss in big games one too many times.

Went to school with Alan and played for milngavie boys club with him for years. Was an absolute monster of a player btw. Without doubt the biggest bear I have even known. Randomly was clearing out the other week and found a picture of me, Alan and another milngavie boy with the 3trophies at ibrox after the treble win in 1999. RIP Marshall mate

Luke

You know you’re good at your job when your family are threatened as a result of your performance.

Rona Bluebell

That SFA statement is astounding. It could be used as a passive/aggressive training example in a psychology class. That they hold senior positions is just … can’t get my head around it.

Bruce Melrose

Not the most important daily update but the first I've listened to on a family holiday in blistering heat with unlimited alcohol,so thoroughly enjoyed listening by the pool, Watp 🇬🇧🇬🇧

Graham McCallum

We know this shambles of our football association stagger from one disaster to another. Do you think they will ultimately go full nuclear and stop VAR next season? And will they try to pressure us into giving more away tickets by introducing a euro style % allocation across the board?

Graham McCallum

They were calling him a cheat before Saturday. We as a listener base have been calling out refs for years (even when we win) because they are of a poor standard and that’s down to their employers being also of a poor standard. There needs to be a draining of the swamp but I fear they’re too embedded in their own small minded mentality 😡

Graham Jones

The reports yesterday said that the Police said they hadn’t been contacted. If this is the case then the SFA are completely out of order, and have broken their own rules. Putting out fake statements to simply gaslight Rangers concern about the refereeing decisions would be bringing the game into disrepute, it whatever they call it now. Your bang on about having professional referees. If we had full time refs this would open a new job market for people who want to work in football. There could still be a part time level for lower leagues, but the top league needs to be covered by proper refs who work at it all week. All cup competitions from quarter final onward also need to be done the same way. The research gained from full time referees would filter down and improve the whole game. Maybe if the SPFL had actually handled the Tv contract properly there would no issues with funding such a set up.

Rona Bluebell

Celtic fans are ultimately upset as they are … Celtic fans. Never happy. As I’ve said many a time ‘not my fault you follow them’.

Martin Davies

Hi David, just a follow on to today's question. There are 4 players entering the final year of their contract - McLaughlin, Barisic, Lundstram and Roofe - should we be actively looking to cash in what little we can get, or is this summer's change too big without also replacing these guys? Personally, I'd move on all 4 but in the case of Roofe in particular, this won't be easy.

Scott Tolmie

I said that at the time bill, Morelos is away celebrating before he realises it’s a goal and blows his whistle, I’ve never seen that before

Craig Harrison

Completely spot on re the incidents on Saturday. There was an incident almost identical in the second half where Alfie’s header deflects off Jack, that wasn’t called as a foul and the only difference was that one didn’t end up in the net. My gast is flabbered.

Dingus

Spot on David, I’m sure your summation of the SFA/Clancy debacle captures the feelings of 99% of our support. If only your (and my) friends over on the RR could grow a pair and stop trying to excuse Clancy’s cheating

Mr Ritchie

Clancy et al are honking but given the recent performances form their EPL counterparts I'm not sure making them full-time will help. Howard Webb has said sorry more than any other word over the past few weeks.

Bigticket

Football 'saves lives' wow, talk about classic exaggeration to push a point.

keith wright

The reason they won’t make them pro is there’s no money to do it because Maxwell and his cronies take all the money and they’d have to take a pay cut!

David Baillie

Hi David, I totally agree on the majority of your comments. However, I wonder if having full time referees would only lead to fitter, better paid cheats. If you have a bias or hatred of a particular team no amount of money or training is going to overcome that. Plus I’m sure we all saw the debacle down south at the weekend with a number of diabolical refereeing and VAR decisions from officials who will be in the higher tax bracket.

Graham Kerr

Clancy is a an out and out corrupt cheat. Not a poor official, a cheat. Re the out of contract players - Jack at a push, the rest can go and reinvest those massive wages wisely.

James Anderson

There were no Scottish officials at the last World Cup and Euros....wonder why?

Stephen Haining

Alan sat in the seat behind me at Ibrox for years. He was as passionate a supporter as I’ve ever met. I learned of his passing at the last game. It won’t be the same without his very vocal support! Rest easy big guy.

David Millar

While I agree that full time referees should produce better outcomes I’m not convinced it would help us for two reasons, 1. Clancy knows what he is doing, the issue is not that he doesn’t know the rules it’s that he refuses to apply them when we are involved, 2. Full time referees would, in my opinion, would be more likely than our present hobbyists to ensure their job and, having given up their real job, income weren’t threatened and in the present football set up in Scotland that would mean being even more careful to avoid the ire of the scum by leaning yet further against us.

Andy Gray

Not enough is being made of Nick Walsh on VAR - yes Clancy got it wrong but that’s the point of having a video review so he’s as much to blame as anyone.

Rod

Ask an English pro ref what their week looks like and reffing a game is a tiny part of it with the bulk being training, learning and practicing, just like players. In Scotland, instead of training, learning and practicing they are in an office or a classroom working 9 to 5. It's a joke.

Colin Wieland

Good point re Nick Walsh. I always thought he was one of better, if that not too strong a word, refs. He completely shat it. Re Alfie, I think the majority of us believe his time is up. But I can't help but smile when I hear "for what he would want" in terms of a new contract. He really would have to be a cheeky fucka to ask anywhere near what he on now, never mind more than.

Alan Keegan

Thanks David, pretty much nail on the head along with the 4 lads piece today. A lot of affection for this team but it’s done.

David Campbell

Am slightly worried about the summer rebuild out of all the players out of contract i would keep two Jack and Kent. Kent is so frustrating but we know he's a quality players that's very capable of being a game changer. I don't see us replacing Kent with better tbh so provided he's not wanting stupid money id offer him a 2 year extension with the option of a 3rd. 1 more year if it doesn't work out we sell next summer and move on.

Martin Davies

Hi David B I worked beside one of the top refs in Scotland and he explained that going professional would avoid the constant stress of having to take time off from the day job. He explained that midweek trips to Pittodrie for e.g. were a nightmare because you'd be rushing out of meetings, etc to get in the car and drive north, and on the journey you're not focused on the up and coming game - instead your still thinking about the day job. He did day that most referees have very decent day jobs, and they probably wouldn't want to go full time - they'd be sacrificing their long term career and the money on offer just wouldn't be enough. I always felt that refereeing would be a good progression for football academy drop outs - £50k/year would be decent money for people without a trade, a degree or an established career, and instead of current referees on VAR, why not allow refs to prolong their careers into their 50s or even 60s by reviewing VAR - there's no physical requirements afterall.

Robert Ryan

To be honest, I find Referee criticism quite tiresome. We might not have won the game even with the Alfie chopped off goal or even with the penalty shout later, might not have scored it. Sliding Doors a good movie.

John Palmer

That's not accurate at all. Rangers last 6 games including the game at the weekend, have scored 18 goals which is 1 less than them across the City. 18/6 is an average of 3 goals a game

dotty 84

How many league goals has Kent, Morelos, Sakala and Čolak, Roofe, Wright got between each other this Season?

David Baillie

Hi Martin, thanks for the reply. All valid points. I also knew a top level referee. He wasn’t good enough for the school team, never played amateur so he became a referee. I used to meet him in the village on a Sunday morning and chat about the weekends games. He had been out injured for a number of weeks and I casually remarked that he would have been missing refereeing. He replied in no uncertain terms that he was missing the money! At that time I think they were on £650 a game. That was double my wage. I followed his career as he was fast tracked through the SFA levels. I watched him referee at junior level and quite honestly he wasn’t very good. It didn’t stop his rise through the levels. He went all the way to Grade One. In private life he became a company director. Eventually after, shall we say, a colourful career. He was appointed head of referees. That was following some “ controversial “ high profile matches and a visit from a double glazing company.🤨 He left the SFA in disgrace following some historical WhatsApp messages came to light. He was always portrayed in the mhedia as being pro Rangers. All the time we were at school I rarely saw him without a Motherwell scarf round his neck. I’ve often wondered why we don’t see many working class, blue collar lads make it to the upper echelons of refereeing circles? Why are they all accountants, lawyers, business managers. Could you possibly imagine Clancy walking onto a building site or into a factory on Monday morning? You make a very interesting point in regard to academy dropouts. Why not extend that to ex players. It has to be attractive enough financially to be able to make a career out of it. What will happen to improve the current set up? The answer I’m afraid is, SFA. 🤨

Stace1ofthePeople

I love Kent but really don't rate him as a game changer anymore. Just my opinion. I love Kent and wanted to keep him but now I just feel its too little end product. I think we could do better for less than 7m and get e better goal return

Gregg

The £7m is kinda not relevant now - can we do better for the wages he’s asking and no fee is the comparable. I’ve no idea

Rose Mcloughlin

Sending condolences to Alans family..another loss of a teddy bear..hope he is joining the biggest fan club above.💔🔴⚪🔵
