Absolutely correct Andy. The manager needs to be more circumspect with his comments.

John Smith

Andy, just wanted to ask a business question. What’s the difference between a Subsidiary and a Division ? Would a joint venture be considered a subsidiary ?

Gregg

A subsidiary is a company owned by the parent or holding company. You could have various divisions in one company - rangers could be Mens team, womens team etc. A JV is typically a 50/50 enterprise with an outside partner - not a subsidiary.

Colin Mathie

So we have more injuries, same shit, different weekend.

James McConnachie

See this recruitment pish - I’m wondering how we ever won anything in the past when the manager or assistant went to watch someone and then signed them. If the new DofF comes in and rips up the transfer plans for arse paper that’s maybe not a bad thing? The recruitment team haven’t exactly been swinging for the fences.

James McConnachie

Short term thinking? Stadium capacity. That’s another factor that underpins Celtic’s ongoing success. Every single year the tens of thousands more fans they get in is a strategic advantage.

Louch

Good and fair update, after having to stop listening to the extra show this week due to it being doom and gloom it was good to get a bit of excitable Rangers chat again that it’s not all terrible 👍🏻

Andy McGowan

Return on investment for any big stadium increases would be very long and would need substantial outlay that could only be funded by long term debt. EH is the opposite - short term outlay, perpetual revenue, and an asset on the balance sheet. So bang for your buck is quicker to land

Andy McGowan

I refuse to believe we can come back from being reset to the stone age in 2012 to win the league and reach a euro final, but Celtic are now apparently unstoppable and we're done for 😂 It simply doesn't compute in my auld brain.

Louch

Completely agree Andy. A few years ago the complaint was we didn’t have a museum or anything to do at the ground. Now we do. Many getting caught up on 5 years to pay it off. Great, then we have 100+ years after it of pure profit( minus upkeep). We have had stinking year no doubt, for many many unforeseen reasons, but the incessant hunt for other things to take shots at must be massively tiring and that’s no way to live.

Christopher Fair

Hi Andy, Not sure if you can respond on this platform but I have a question. You said that if we had to live within our means we wouldn’t like it….Is this solely down to a financial disparity due to the income streams you talk about or do you think it’s something different? I’m a financial laymen so just interest in your opinion on that?

Alex Hood

Fair comments on Edmiston House and Beale’s presser, Andy. On transfers, if Cantwell and Raskin are a sign of things to come, then I’m going to take an optimistic view of the summer activity.

John Hammond

Always enjoy hearing Andy's opinions, which are measured and give new context to the topic.

Graham Jones

The manager just has his own style of fielding questions, but he cans shut someone down when he needs to. I think he gets an easier ride just answering questions when they’re asked. The media management hasn’t been the same since David Graham left. They were shit scared of him. Andy is very bullish on the NEH figures, and I respect he probably has reasons for doing so. I think they will fall short of those numbers, certainly in the first year. I hope he’s right for al our sakes, because If it doesn’t pay it’s keep then it’s a failure. It’l be a nice place to meet on match days, but it has to be financially successful. As Andy said, it has to be a revenue earner, and substantially so. I’m just unsure how much of the Glasgow live venue market we can gain on an ongoing basis. John Bennet has some big decisions to make in the next couple of weeks, but I am confident with him at the helm. I suspect we’ll see new blood come onto the board, along with new money. It will be interesting to see whether the plans for the disabled section are effected in terms of the timetable.

KAD87

Completely agree with Andy, as per, in relation to the way that Beale communicates. He says things he doesn’t need to say. The first red flag was Tom Davies. Why put himself or the club under pressure?

Andy McGowan

Hi Christopher, I just think that it is either taken for granted or unknown to a lot of our support just how unbelievably grim the last 8 years would have been without our investors making a huge difference, and now that the perception is that we're back to normal I sense we are innured to the investor "Top ups" that are still happening. Celtic have a model embedded over decades - we have 1 year of being profitable since 2012. We still have a lot of work to do to maintain self sustainability year on year whilst delivering success.
