The tunes just keep on coming …

Tess

Greatest song ever, it's going to take me a while before I'm able to get past it in order to listen to the actual Update.

Simon H&H

Jean-Phillipe Krasso. Free transfer. 31 games, 16 goals, 9 assists.

Graham Roy

Marcus Thuram although probably unlikely coming from Germany on a free!

The funniest part is when you look at the comment section of PLZ. Riddled with tims accusing Peter Martin and Alan Rough of being pro Rangers 😂

Martin Boyd

Liam Bennet 21 year old right back, Cambridge Utd, will not be there long already good enough for Championship. Only came into the side halfway through last season now first pick , quick, likes a tackle and can pass. He will go onto have a good career I think, a short version of Stuart Munro. I do know it will be sniffed at because of the level he plays at but we will need to look for diamonds in the rough especially as backup.

I’m a fan of Yukinari Sugawara from AZ Alkmaar. Could be a solid replacement for Tav

Stephen Wright

Should get that PLZ branded microphone tae fck at any of our press conferences, always front and centre.

David_Davy_Dave

PLZ makes me think of the Alan Partridge episode where he puts on a show at the travel tavern and tells everyone “it’s a tv show jus not on the tv”

David Kiltie

Good pod, guys. I saw the PLZ clip on Follow Follow earlier. Why don’t they just market themselves as Celtic fans TV channel? Interesting point from David as to how a channel can finance itself with that level of viewers. I responded to a tweet from H&H’s Colin yesterday and was hit by a pile-on of nasty replies from that lot’s supporters. They really are a weird bunch.

Peter Hosie

Aribo back on loan and pay half his wages

James Cameron

Isn't it one of Lawell's sons that funds PLZ

In fairness to that lot they have spent some amount of time and money on controlling the narrative in Scotland. Very much a "Hearts and minds" style op. They noticed long ago we just shrug most of this nonsense off so with a bit of effort they can easily say what they want when they want. Our dignified silence over the years has allowed this to snowball over the years. A quick question for perspective. Over the years Rangers have had Pride over prejudice and Everyone, Anyone campaigns. Can anyone name the Celtic alternatives??? Just a small example of how they control that narrative.

John Walker

Don't know if he's still on that plz but Barry Ferguson used to be and it was truly embarrassing watching him play patsy to those Tim's.

Ross Stewart

Ratkov as CF (4-5 mil), Ben Romdhane as CM (OOC), Maja as CF(OOC), Omeragic as CB (OOC)

John Palmer

I used to watch PLZ a while ago but went off it due to it's very amateurish running of the Channel and very poor Punditry ie Tam McManus who's an utter muppet. I'm not sure I'd agree it being a "Them" Channel as again it's just very poorly run.

Great pod gents. On the SPFL transfer opportunities I think we should be looking at more local talent. Yes I get the idea that they might not be at the level we are aiming for in terms of Europe but this IS the level we play at week in week out and many of the rest of the league teams get guys who perform for them. Your point is spot on but the counter is with better players and coaching could they improve ? The bigger issues is the second point you make around Johnson, its fine grabbing a young developing first team player who’s showing up well but if we then sit them on the bench we ruin their de elopement potentially. Far too many of our players come in, play second fiddle then leave having basically cashed a cheque for a few years but having set themselves back in a football sense. I get the money argument but 18 to 24 months of money and then a backwards step isn’t always the best for me. I wonder how our recent transfer dealings and our lack of a real development record for players in recent years would impact players coming to us its been sometime since we plucked a Scottish league talent, improved them and then moved them onto better things.

Aye Cammy has a point with the lack of opportunity. I just get fed up looking at Hickey etc and thinking ‘we could have had him’ and I think we’ll be exactly the same with this kid.

Spoon

Your absolutely right and I would argue given how our model has performed in recent years it might be time to at least give some of these guys a chance as starters, if it doesn’t work we can always move them on. If your a young hungry player making a name for yourselves I’m not sure switching 40 games a season to our bench is a great long game career move. I think there’s a lot being missed in terms of potential when a guy is at a neighbouring team racking up numbers in what’s probably a lesser squad. Of course flip is do they come to us and suddenly find they can’t do it against a flat back 10 with no space. Think we definitely need to accept our recent strategy hasn’t been as effective as we would have liked. Big concern is we aren’t as attractive an option for local talent now and might miss out.

Heart and Hand

I don’t think it has worked at all which is why Wilson tried to use Bassey and Patterson as shields to deflect criticism.

Spoon

Yep very much exceptions to a failed system, like the squad just everything about how we do things needs a review, rethink and a refresh
