Mr J K Murray

ty,Scotty arrived from Burnley & thought it was a good signing, not to harp on the negative, if we had better players around him might have been a different ball game, however, we did exceed expectations, excuse me for singing like a rooster, yors duty officer

On Alfie, the 3-3 game at Benfica where they had Zabaleta and Vertonghen at centre half. I remember saying to a colleague that Alfie outnumbered the pair of them on his own. There's no way they were coping with peak Alf.

Great pod lads. Just on unfair expectations and Ryan Kent.. I fully believe if players like Cooper or McCann were playing now in his position fans would be having kittens over their 'contributions'. What everyone wanted in Kent was a 2 footed dribbler who could knock in 20 goals on top of his 20 Assists a season...aye okay.

Graham Roy

Your not wrong however Cooper and McCann scored more goals than Kent. I do think Kent did suffer by not having a really good goalscorer over his time if he had a hateley or McCoist type player then he would have got way more assists.

Russ

People misremember some of our heroes I think. Both McCann and Kent played 113 league games (going off wikipedia) McCann scored 19 and Kent had 22. Again, going off Coopers wikipedia he got 49 in 376, which is a worse rate than Kents. Different times for sure and both brilliant players but let's not pretend that we've had wingers knocking in 40 g/a in a season. Don't even think Gazza was doing that in his prime for us.

John Walker

Cheers Iain another great show. All the best from Auz.

McGregor absolute legend for Rangers but my god awful his last 2 seasons: sad he thought he could keep going

AGS

Referee, “take the credit it was a good save: McGregor “I don’t want the fucking credit”

I think Kent gets a bit more stick than he deserves. He was severely restricted in Gio's ridiculous horseshoe tactic and let's not forget he started last season with a hamstring issue. He has been poor second half of this season but I don't think the 18 months before that were necessarily all on him.

Graham Roy

I would still have cooper or McCann miles ahead of Kent. Cooper was world class on his day and in the early 80’s could have walked into most teams! McCann was far more consistent than Kent and had it not been for our financial issues at the time he would have played far longer for Rangers than he did. Not sure if you saw them play for Rangers but I doubt many that did would even have Kent in the same breath as them!

Russ

Not disputing that mate, just backing up the point that fans expect something that we've never had - a winger that gets 20 goals and 20 Assists a season. I still hold that if either Cooper or McCann had posted those numbers these days fans would question it, as I say.. a change in times. It's more a slight on modern fan expectations rather than questioning past players.

Graham Roy

I don’t agree. Cooper and McCann would have done amazing in this side. The chances they would have created especially against Celtic would have blown Kent out of water. Also these players delivered in finals and in particular games we had to win. Kent in past 2 seasons was far too inconsistent (not all his fault due to tactics) but if you look at this season he has been non existent. Whilst cooper and McCann had bad games they never had as poor a spell over an entire season.
