Dont hate me but, not qualifying for the champions league, finishing 3rd in the Europa group and dropping to the Conference and winning that, before going to the club world cup, would be more than Ok IMO

Wasn't too excited about Dessers when we were first linked, but I've warmed to the idea. He's played in the top flights in Italy, The Netherlands and Belgium and he's done alright - more than alright in some years - and that makes a change from targeting players from the Championship. Have to disagree about the Club World Cup stuff. It's always just seemed like a pointless competition other than FIFA bringing in money for themselves. Can't say I'd ever have any interest in it.

I’ve been desperate to take part in the club World Cup for years. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I think it’s a really fun tournament

I just want to win the League Cup at this point, David, never mind a World Club Cup. I miss the League Cup.

The Club World Cup, Yes please. Firstly because I want us there playing these type of games and our support love a good away trip. More importantly from the club's point of view the money involved for competing is big. FIFA' will market it to death. The very top end sponsors, video games, merch, TVstreaming deals and it will get us blue chip sponsors of our own. Bisgrove may be moving out of the commercial seat but I bet he will be salivating.

The other issue with young players has been immigration. Pre Brexit players had a choice of anywhere in Europe and post Brexit it's harder to get a work permit for younger players (but the rules in Scotland are easier than England, so we may see youngsters from outside the UK with an ambition to play in England being more willing to come to Scotland until they qualify for a move to England).

I thought making the Champions League group stages meant you got a fortune right up til we do it, then it seems you only get a packet of space raiders and a joob joob

Expect our chums to lobby like hell to stop us getting the single slot if that’s on the cards.

Watched some clips of this new striker from italy, looks a handful and would do really well here, also replace Alfredo when defending corners which he was very good at, excited by this one

The thing that bothers me about the top - the pattern doesn't follow round to the back. Last year's home and away were the same. If the squares went all the way round I would say it was one of their better strips

Wikipedia gives a different set up for club world cup qualification. 12 European teams, no more than 2 per country (unless 3 teams from one country win the ECL). The 12 would normally be 2 from England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France, plus 1 each from Portugal and Holland. It would appear that it's the poor performing 2nd French team that is giving Rangers the chance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_FIFA_Club_World_Cup?wprov=sfla1
